"Beep!" Emily's phone made a sound as a message popped on the screen,she sleepy ran her hand quickly under her pillow case as she searched for the phone.Opening her eyes weakly she looked at the time only to find it was three in the morning. Today the boss will be coming to the headquarters, be punctual, the message read.Emily sluggishly got out of bed and walked outside grabbing a towel along the way.She hit the showers for 5 minutes straight and was done in no time.As soon as she walked back into the house,she began to dress up in school uniform,this was her last year in high school and that required total seriousness from her,she sat at her study table and decided to do some calculations.Math wasn't really that hard for her but sometimes she felt like giving it up.She plugged into her favorite music and wore her headphones, the sums she was working on were done in a few minutes.She chose chemistry later on,she felt like she could do anything in the world just to drop it,unfortunately, it was a compulsory subject all over the country so she had no other choice but to do it.After studying for some hours, she paused to look at the time only to find it was already six.She quickly took a brief breakfast and brushed her teeth quickly before rushing outside,she bumped into a familiar person that freaked her out for a moment, her face relaxed and she turned to smile at the person,"Hey Alvin,what's up", Emily asked him as they handshaked," I'm cool,you ready to go"he asked her," Yeah,more than ready Emily said as they walked downstairs in silence everyone engulfed in their own thoughts as they walked on the streets.Emily stole a glance at Alvin, this was the only person in the building that she called a friend,although Alvin was younger than her she felt like he understood what she was going through. Alvin had a dad who was a drunkard,he was a very aggressive dad. The two of them had met on one occasion at the balcony,both of them were very emotional, that day they had shared their stories and after talking for hours they became very close"Hey umm... can we go to Kade's cyber cafe in the evening?"Alvin asked,"yeah,why not",Emily replied as Alvin jumped on her,"Thankyou...I love you Emily",he said happily,she only chuckled,take care Alvin she said.After he left,she sighed heavily as she wiped a tear that was streaming down her cheek,it was just a flashback.Alvin no longest spoke to her anymore,she was now all alone on the dusty road that led to the new school that she was supposed to be enrolled in at that particular day,she knew that the orphanage had already sent the lady who always checked up on her during the weekend at this school,another tear rolled down her cheek when she tried to remember her childhood moments,not even a single one brought back a smile on her face,she only had one memory of a young man clapping her hands as he danced to entertain her,it must have been her dad years ago,she tried to smile at her dad's image but only tears came out.She dried her eyes with the clean hanky she had and promised herself that she was going to be strong in all circumstances. she's still burned inside when she remembered her dad,where had he gone? why had here abandoned her?were was her mother then? All these questions could only be answered by herself no one really knew where her parents were, the orphanage said that her dad had left her at the ophanage and she was a little kid so why both anyway * * * * * the reception was full of people sitting on the long hard benches,Emily sat by that section and closed her eyes,as her head rested on a wall she began to imagine how her life was going to be in the future,was she going to be famous?she already was famous on social media... just that nobody knew that she was,she just wanted to get over high school as fast as she could,she knew that life outside was better than life inside,she was about to drown some more when the reception door opened and a neatly dressed woman came out,"Emily?Emily Aboki?" she called out as everybody turn to look at her.Emily stood up and the woman smiled a bit at her," Follow me please," she said politely to Emily who marvelled by her beauty.Emily was impressed by the new school that was mightily built to a fourth flour and the designs that were on the office walls,she noticed that all the offices were cleaned up and neatly arranged,the lady led her to a room that looked a bit different from the others,she slowly walked into the office after the lady and after exchanging greetings with the principal,she sat down,the woman from the orphanage was already there,she slowly zoomed her eyes around the room and was wowed by the images she saw just behind the principles chair, she also saw a shelf coated with glass from the outside,inside,she could be able to see some medals and all kinds of trophies,the principal had certificates hanged on the walls and then there was a picture of the president and another picture of himself.Emily's eyes finally landed on some pictures next to the trophy shelf they were pictures of someone who had participated in a specific game,looking closely Emily realized that the person must have been playing basketball."Woah!Real stuff here", she thought as she looked at the principal, he wasn't really old,he looked like a 45 or something year old,he was in a blue suit,white shirt and a blue tie to go with the suit,his hair was trimmed well and curved shapely the one would have thought someone baked his head in the morning,he had a Elegant smile and when he laughed,he laughed heartedly,he obviously lived a good life.Emily was still thinking about other things when she realized that the room had gone silent,she slowly turned her head to look at them"so Emily", began the principal," I've heard a lot about you,I hope you have come here with a determined soul", he said seriously."Certainly sir",Emily replied as the principal smiled warmly," okay then, let's see what you've got",he said as he pressed a button on the table,after a minute,a young man dressed up in a leather jacket and some clear glasses walked in,"Greetings everyone",he said to them,they responded back,"So,I would like you to take this young lady to her class,she is a senior student",the principal said,"Certainly sir,shall we?"the guy said turning to Emily,she silently followed him and turned to look at the woman from the orphanage,"What are you waiting for,go!",the woman almost screamed at her."Yes mother",Emily said as the woman narrowed her eyes at her,that was enough to remind her of the words she was used to being told,"don't call me mother",the words rang in her mind again and again.
