Pov: Zach
"Who touched my mate?"
I roared through the grand hall as my voice tore the whole auditorium.
The stones beneath my feet even began to vibrate. When I looked down, my heart stopped because Diana was lying there in a pool of light red blood.
Her white lace dress was blood-stained and she was obviously dying. I was filled with black fury. My wolf took over entirely as my claws appeared, cutting into my own palms.
I gave out my full Alpha aura which was so powerful that it almost physically hit the room.
The stone pillars cracked as the glass windows shattered into a thousand pieces.
Four hundred wolves came crashing down to the ground. The mighty warriors, wise elders, and native alphas, all of them fell to their knees. They placed their faces on the cold stone surface, panting.
No one was able to resist my pressure.
They had never seen me angry. Now, they saw a monster.
I walked forward, as my eyes fixed on the man standing nearest to her.
Jax.
From the floor, he looked at me, his face milked of all the color in fright. He looked at Diana, then at me again. Then, he realized that the Alpha King knew Diana. He realized she belonged to me.
But it was too late for him.
I closed the distance in a single second.
I grabbed Jax by his throat and and hoisted him up with one hand.
He choked, his legs kicking the air.
Without a second thought, I did not hesitate. By the same hand, I grabbed his right arm and twisted it until the bone broke through the skin.
Jax screamed, a high, piercing sound of agony due to the extreme pain.
"You dare touch what is mine?" I growled.
Jax sobbed, his head rolling back. I did not waste another second on him. I threw his broken body across the grand hall as he smashed into a heavy stone pillar and slid to the floor, unconscious.
"Kill him!" Ivy shrieked from the floor as she pointed a trembling finger at me, looking at the pack guards.
"There are dozens of us! Attack!"
She thought numbers mattered. And she thought that her guards would be able to save her.
Twelve elite warriors forced themselves up through my pressure as they all drew their swords and threw themselves at me from all sides.
I did not even draw a weapon.
I moved like a shadow and ripped the throat out of the first guard with my bare claws.
I turned and drove my fist straight through the chest of the second man.
The other two guards tried to attack me from the rear. By grabbing their heads, I smashed them against each other so hard that their skulls got crushed.
Blood sprayed across the walls as I cut through them like paper.
Within half a minute, all twelve guards were dead and lying on the floor.
The few wolves left in the hall were so terrified that they wept in terror. They shut their eyes tightly in anticipation of death.
I ignored them as the rage vanished, instead, a cold dreadful emptiness took over me.
I dropped to my knees beside Diana as my long black coat soaked up her blood.
I pressed my hands on the heavy wound in her stomach to stop the flowing red. I was shaking uncontrollably. I found her pulse. It was very weak, almost fading away fast.
Hot tears spilled from my eyes.
They traced down my cheeks and touched her face which was almost colorless.
I cried Yes. I was the Alpha King, the most merciless wolf on earth, but I was bawling in the same way as a helpless kid.
Then to my greatest surprise, Diana’s eyes fluttered open.
She looked up at my tears in complete shock. Seeing my tears, I could guess her thoughts. She hated me. That was the reason why she always escaped from me. She believed that I was a dictator. She never even thought about why I remained so close to her pack.
I leaned down close to her ear as my voice broke. I whispered to her ear, almost inaudibly. "If only you had chosen me. I would have given you the world, Diana. I would have protected you from them."
She could not breathe properly as her eyes widened in shock as she looked at me… and then at my tears and my blood-stained hands. That was when the reality dawned on her. She finally realized everything. I did not want her land or want her inheritance.
But from the very beginning, I was in love with her all along. Right from the start, I only desired and only wanted her.
Diana raised a trembling, bloody hand toward my face. Her fingers lightly brushed against my cheek, wiping away a tear.
"I'm sorry..." she whispered. Her voice was barely a breath.
Then, her hand lost all its strength and fell back to the stone floor and her eyes closed. Suddenly, her chest stopped moving.
Darkness took her away, and my world ended.
