Her Rogue

I had dreamt of my mate. I could still smell him. He was filthy. Covered in dirt and dried blood. Three things I know. One, he is quite large for a rogue. Second, he had the kindest gray eyes I'd ever seen. Three, he smelled of cedar, sage and fresh water. Amazing earthy scents!

I crawled out of bed. One quick look in the mirror and I realized I shouldn't have taken a nap with wet hair! Ugh!

I could hear Kate chuckling at me.

I just glared in the mirror. I grabbed my brush and started brushed my hair the best I could and put it in a tight braid.

Someone was home. It was my mom.

"Hey mom!" I shouted as I was coming from my room.

"Hey there princess!" Mom said smiling at me.

I gave her a big hug. "How was work?"

"Same ol same ol." She smiled.

Mom worked long hours. She was the doctor for our cousin pack as well. Their doctor died unexpectedly. The new doctor was still in school and won't have her PhD for another 3 years. So mom rarely came home. She usually brought some groceries and grabbed some new clothes.

"I'll put the groceries away. I know you don't have much time, so go grab some fresh clothes."

"Thank you princess." Mom said. Giving me a kiss on my forehead. She left to change and pack some fresh clothes.

I hummed some tune while I put all the groceries away.

"I should be home Friday morning to help you get ready for the Mating Hunt." Mom said as she returned to the kitchen.

My mom was beautiful. I had her hair color and her tan but her eyes were a hazel green. She is 5'9 to my 5'7. My mom was elegant. I noticed some gray in her hair. Approaching 60 and you almost wouldn't have known it.

"Awwww mom! That would be awesome!" I gave her a huge smile.

"Well I'll sure try. Being the doctor of two packs is exhausting. But it's worth it." She smiled back at me. "The Alpha and Luna of our cousin pack, still have no Alpha heir."

"Really? What are they going to do?" I asked her.

"If they don't have a vital heir, then the Beta may step up or the Alpha will replace his Luna."

I was very surprised. No vital heir can create a war among its pack members. The Alpha may kill his Luna and find a mate who can bare his heir. It's horrible. We handle things differently within our Briar Fern pack. My cousin pack, the Shadow Rain pack, is known for its blood thirst. They have a history of violence. For the last thirty years or so, they have tried to change their ways. Most other packs compare them to rogues.

"Well princess, I need to go. Here's some money for you. I love you. See you Friday."

She gave me a quick HUD and kiss one my forehead.

"I love you too mom." I replied.

I hated seeking her go but she has to work.

I finished the groceries and headed back to my room. I check my iPhone and there was a few messages from two of my friends, Jenna and Kyle.

"Lacey, what's up? Haven't heard back from you. Call me."

"Lacey! Pick up your phone! We need to hang out!"

Both from Jenna.

"Hey Lacey girl! Jenna has been blowing up my phone! Ha ha ha! Please answer her. Later"

From Kyle.

I sent a message to Jenna.

"Hey J, I went for a run and took a nap. What do you want to do?"

Jenna, "Hey L, let's go see a movie! I'll text K."

Me, "Okay. I'll come pick you both up."

Kyle, "Movie night! Alright! See you ladies soon!"

I put my phone on my bed. I went to my closest and grabbed a pair of stonewashed blue jeans, a green, blue and purple tie dye shirt. I found my purple converse and my black hoodie with a skull, snake and roses on the front.

I left my hair braided. I grabbed my iPhone, purse and keys.

I didn't own a flashy car like most of the teens I went to school with.

My car was a basic sedan. Charcoal exterior, black leather interior. I love my car. My dad bought it for me for my 17th birthday. My first car was a Honda Accord. It was my brother's car and it had a few issues. So my dad had me drive it to a car dealership so we could trade it in and get my new car. He paid for it in full, along with my trade in. My new car is a Toyota Corolla.
