Chapter 3
Reese
Reese carried tray stacks to the back of his truck while Dave carried a silver coffee earn and empty white coffee cups.
A man whose bald head glinted from the sun approached Reese. The FBI ID tag that was pinned to his suit made Reese pause.
"Excuse me. You, Malone?" the man asked. The reflection that came off of his eyeglasses obscured his eyes.
"Yeah," Reese responded.
"I'm Agent Smalls, an investigator for the FBI. I need to ask you some questions about someone you're associated with."
Reese turned to his Steve, "Finish up for me, bro. I'll be back in a second."
Dave nodded and left.
Agent Smalls led Reese a bit away from the truck and asked, "Do you know somebody by the name of Frank Cantelli, he goes by Frankie Fish."
"Yeah, I know him," Reese answered and crossed his arms.
"What do you know about him?" The agent asked as he rested both fists on his hips.
"Uncle to my ex. He's a made man from what I could tell."
"From what you could tell? So you're sayin' that you were never involved with him?"
Reese shook his head and looked off in the distance. "Naw. He was busy doin' his thing, and I was busy doin' mine."
"Except...he's interested in your thing now?" Agent Smalls asked.
Reese looked at the man and nodded. "My ex suddenly took an interest."
Smalls tilted his head, "Good. Keep her interest. We need to know where they're funneling their money to."
Reese shook his head. "No. I don't wanna get involved with them. Can't you send investigators to figure this out?"
One side of Smalls' mouth twitched. "We have our way of doing things, Malone. This is the best route to get to what we need for the bust." Smalls reached in his back pocket and pulled out his wallet. He grabbed a small white card from the side pocket and handed it to Reese. Then said, "That's my number. I already have yours and I'll be in touch."
