Jacobs POV
'Tell the officer to send a female back later or something, I need to fix this now!'
'Fine. I'll tell mum to come down. She might need a woman's point of view.'
'Thank you!'
After mind linking with my brother I focus on my beautiful mate again. I'm unsure how to begin to explain my entire being to a human. 'Then let me, she is mine. She will understand. She is meant for us.' Blue orders with confidence trying to get forward. 'Stop frightening her' I snap back trying to focus on her wonderful face.
"Tell me what you are!" She demands more forcefully, this time with a firm look. She is sexy when she gets dominant and all demanding. What the f**k is wrong with me? I mentally slap myself telling me to focus. Lucas comes and sits on the floor with us. He takes one of her hands and massages her fingers, palm, and wrist.
"We are not humans…" he begins looking at her and then me. "But, we are not the same being either." He grabs her other hand and gives it the same treatment. She listens attentively to Luc, seemingly unaware of his treatment. I brush my nose against her forehead, smelling her.
"I am a werewolf," I whisper, unable to say it out loud. As if whispering will make it easier to accept.
"And I am a bear. A werebear." Luc tells her. And then we wait for a response. She gets this adorable little wrinkle between her eyebrows, and she scrunches up her nose. You can almost hear the wheels turning inside her head when she tries to comprehend what we just told her. I'm getting nervous, is she going to scream again, will she reject us, laugh at us? Time slows down and then it stops, she opens her mouth, those soft pink lips.
"Prove it" she demands with determination. Blue purrs in my mind, he rejoices at her wanting to meet him. He pushes forward and in a second he takes control of me.
Lucas POV
Suddenly Jakes demeanor change, his eyes becomes dark, and Blue takes over completely;
"You want to meet me gorgeous?" He asks excitedly looking at her. She jumps a little from the change of voice and eyes and turns to me for help. I chuckled, I have met Blue before and know he can be a bit much.
"Have you turned into a pup, Jake? I have never seen you lose control this much, ever!" I joke even though I know Jake can't answer at the moment. "Hi Blue, would you let Jake back so we can do this?" I ask.
"Why, she wants to meet me. Don't you, Princess?" Blue asks, looking at Sofia. She looks dumbfounded not knowing how to respond, and just nod.
"That's my girl!" Blue purrs leaning in to brush Jake's nose against hers without breaking eye contact.
"How about this, we will show you but not here. This room is a bit too small!" I try to reason with both of them. Never once letting her hands go. "And there are more important issues to attend to than showing off!" I continued with a stern look at Blue. Before Blue can growl annoyed at me Jake managed to take him down back into his mind. He closed his eyes for a moment, clearing them from Blue. "I'm sorry!" He mumbled. Not looking at her.
"Sofia, the police officer that was outside wanted to confirm your identity. What's your surname?" I went on to ask her, giving Jake a moment.
"Bell, my name is Sofia Bell." She tells us absently, looking at Jake apprehensive.
"What do you remember from when you were taken?" I pressed on. I can see Jake's grip around her stiffen.
"I was asleep in my bed when Hugo snuck up behind me and muffled me. When I resisted he threatened to harm my family, so I did as he said. He covered me in a blanket and carried me outside and into his truck." She recounted still absent, deep in thought. I am unsure how to do this. Am I supposed to tell her? We have dropped a great thing in her lap. Maybe we should wait. But what if she finds out that we know and didn't tell her?
"Can I borrow a phone? I need to call home and let them know…" she questioned me. Her blue eyes brimming with tears. I look at her soft round face, reddened cheeks, and her ruffled hair still in a braid.
"How about this? You take a shower, we will get some new clothes for you. And then let's talk to the police!"
"No. Just let me borrow a phone so that I can call Hanna!" She responds annoyedly and holds out her hand to me expectedly.
"Sofia, please…" I start to plead, then the door opens, and doctor Summers walks in with Maggie. We all turn our heads towards them, and Sofia's hand drops. The doctor smiles.
"Hello, I would like to do a quick check-up! Mr. Brown and Mr. Winter if you would be so kind!" She holds the door open and gives us a smile. Jake rises effortlessly, still holding Sofia. He walks the three steps back to the bed carrying her and puts her down on it. He leaves without a word, I give her a faint smile and walk out behind him. She sits motionless and shows no emotions.
Sofia's POV
"I am a werewolf," Jacob whispers. "And I am a bear. A werebear." Lucas tells me.
Okay! I have apparently ended up in loony town. I need to get out of this place. They are insane, I didn't know you could be collectively insane? I will play along and maybe make it out of this alive and sane. My brain and mouth seem to have disconnected, before I can stop myself I throw out "Prove it". All I want to do is slap myself. Jacob's eyes turn black, his perfect face erupts in a big grin.
"You want to meet me gorgeous?" He asks excitedly with a deeper voice looking at me. I jump a little from the change and turn to Lucas for help. He just chuckled, like it's funny?
"Have you turned into a pup, Jake? I have never seen you lose control this much, ever!" He jokes, but I don't see what's so funny. "Hi Blue, would you let Jake back so we can do this?" Who the f**k is Blue? Oh no, okay. Perhaps Jacob is insane. Schizophrenia or something?
"Why, she wants to meet me. Don't you Princess?" Jacob answered, looking at me. I just stare not knowing how to respond, so I nod.
"That's my girl!" He purrs, he f*****g purrs. And leans in and brushes his nose against mine, not breaking eye contact. Why, why does it have to be the sexy ones? It's not fair! Lucas keeps on talking somewhere in the background. But I can't focus, I need to plan how to get home. When Lucas asks about my name I answer truthfully "Bell, my name is Sofia Bell." I tell him absently. I'm still looking at Jake who seems to be 'back to normal'.
"What do you remember from when you were taken?" He pressed on. I can feel Jacob's grip around me harden.
"I was asleep in my bed when some snuck up behind me and muffled me. When I resisted he threatened to harm my family, so I did as he said. He covered me in a blanket and carried me outside and into his truck." I recounted. Then it hits me, I need to go home. They can't stop me from getting back to my family. All I need to do is call mom, and they will come and get me, right?
"Can I borrow a phone? I need to call home and let them know…" I say the words get stuck in my throat thinking about them. I can feel my eyes brimming with tears.
"How about this? You take a shower, we will get some new clothes for you. And then let's talk to the police!" Lucas said.
"No. Just let me borrow a phone so I can call Hanna!" I argue. When the door opens Dr. Summers walks in with Maggie I'm relieved. Jacob lifts me up from the floor like nothing and puts me down on the bed. Then he leaves, Lucas gives me a small smile before following.
"So, I guess it's been an eventful morning?" The Dr sings.
"Yeah, you could say that," I mutter not in the same spirit as she. Maggie keeps in the background. The Dr then continued asking me about how I'm feeling today. If I have had some side effects from the medication or bleeding. She asks me to take my hospital garment off and show her my back. And I do it, listening to her half-heartedly. She gives me a new, big white hospital shirt and asks; "Do you need anything before I go?"
"Yes, I need to know. Are you a wolf or a bear?"
She looks at me with hesitation and then looks at Maggie. Maggie nods her way as to give permission.
"I am a wolf, all of us are. Mr. Brown is an exception." She answers. I nod, so they aren't insane. It's a cult or sect of some kind. As I button the shirt, long enough to be a dress I start to make up a plan in my head.
"I need to be alone." I whisper "please" I added, without turning to look at them. She is quiet.
"Do you want me to tell them?"
"Yes, please."
And with that they both leaves.
When I finally am alone. I curse myself silently. How could I let it go a whole day without contacting my family? Why did I let myself be "enchanted" by two beautiful men, how weak can you really be? Okay, I needed medical attention, but how serious can this hospital be if it's run by a cult of some kind? For the first time, I pull back the curtains and lookout. I'm on the ground floor, perfect! Outside is a garden. It looks like a courtyard for the hospital. The sun is shining brightly, I turn around and check the clock on the wall. She's already showing at half-past nine. Quickly I take down my braid and brush through my hair. Then I put it up in a messy bun on my head. I can not do anything about the clothes.
I opened the window ajar, it make this little squeaky sound. I don't think they open them often. I stop and wait but nothing happens. Without further delay, I open the window completely and climb up and jump out. The garden is designed as a park, with trees for shade and benches to sit on. There are several gravel paths that all lead to a circular center. It's a pleasant place. I remember a TV show with a man who was a robber. He said that to get away undiscovered, you have to walk calmly with a clear goal. pretend to be exactly where you should be, that you do what you are supposed to. So I go out into the sun and follow one of the gravel paths towards the middle. From there I can see the whole courtyard. The many windows on the red brick building that have two floors. I can also see an arch leading out of the courtyard so I go that way calmly but with my heart racing in my chest. The sun warms me from head to toe. An incredibly wonderful feeling. In the last two weeks, I have mostly been out at night if at all. One thought strikes me suddenly, another glorious warmth. The one from Lucas and Jacobs is hands on top of mine. Crazy, why did they have to be so handsome and not normal? I shake off the feeling of loss and continue into the tunnel that leads out to reality.
I come out on a busy road. In what appears to be the center of a larger village. To the right, the entrance to the hospital seems to be further down a small square. I turn left towards what I hope is the way out. I increase my steps slightly to look like I'm in a hurry, matching the tempo of the street. While I hope no one will see my strange clothes and bruised face. After all, it's summer, if I'm lucky it looks like a loose dress. That I am barefoot is a little strange, if I'm lucky no one looks at my feet. It's a nice village, small cozy shops with various contents, and a patisserie that smells heavenly. My stomach growls so I hurry on. The shops are gradually exchanged for villas with well-kept gardens. I meet some people here and there, some greet me kindly and smile. But no one tries to stop me or asks where I'm going. When the houses become fewer and are replaced by forest, I feel calmer. I seem to have been lucky and found the main road so I continue to follow it. This forest isn't like home, it's more, I don't know. I like it. It would be fun to explore this. After walking for I guess one hour I need a break and sit down in a clearing. Breakfast would have been nice, in this small amount of time I have already got used to feeling full. I lie down in the grass and squint up at the sky. It's summer-blue with small thin clouds gliding past, slowly. No cars are heard here, no people. Just silence, the rustle of leaves and birds in the trees. It is a pleasant, relaxing, and soothing sound. I close my eyes, allowing myself a break.
Something cold and wet suddenly tickles my cheek. A wet tongue licks my throat and ear. It tickles and I giggle and raise my hands to make it stop. With a jerk, I open my eyes realizing I'm found. I am met by a big nose. A snout on a giant animal with soft steel-gray fur that almost shimmers blue in the sun and has dark eyes. I gasp and push myself up on my elbows and quickly pull backward. In front of me is an incredibly large wolf, at least three times as big as a regular one, and it follows me with its gaze. I look around desperately for a way out. Getting up and running is not an option. It will catch up with me in no time. So I continue to back up with my breath in my throat and a running heart. I do not want to die! Not even Hugo made me feel this intense fear. I collide with a rock and can come no further. I am trapt. The thought of getting torn to pieces becomes too much and I can feel the warm liquid pour down my thighs and form a pool underneath me. The wolf takes a step back and for a moment it sounds like it is whining. But the sound is faint because of the pounding in my ears. Through blurry eyes and heavy shaking, I see the wolf decreasing in size. The fur seems to evanesce slowly, and there is a sickly popping sound that I can't recognize the cause of. In front of my disbelieving eyes, the wolf disappears and turns into Jacob.
