love affair

Chapter one

Waking up from my sleep late at midnight thinking about dad the king of the elves and the meeting with the human Nation, nothing seems to be peaceful when it comes to these two great kingdoms right from dad's days as a young prince elf up until now.

Both kingdoms have been at war with each other with so many devastating ending, I can remember dad telling me how he lost his twin brother in one of the wars in the middle land with the humans, it was a dark day for the elves loosing one of the princes.

Middle land was known not just for the death of dad's brother, but it was a sacred place both to the elves and humans long before the great war between the two kingdoms.

As I wondered in my thoughts, I then fell back asleep.

A knock on the door didn't totally wake me up from my sleep but shortly afterwards I felt a tap on my hand, then I opened my eyes a little, low and behold it was my little brother laughing and touching my hands with little taps, I wasn't quite happy due to the fact he interrupted my sleep, then an idea came into my mind, I decided to keep my eyes closed pretending to be sleeping then suddenly I felt a drop of water on my hand and I decided to open my eyes my brother was now crying, I smiled and then called his name "Elton" he looked up then I tickled him, his laughter filled the room.

Elton and I were fond of doing this same thing every morning, most times I felt like Elton's laughter was all I need to take my mind away from the impending war.

However, reality struck me when I heard the gates trumpets been blown, it was my dad and some knights returning from the previous meeting with the duke of the five provinces in the elf kingdom.

I raced down the staircase to greet dad, but I was stopped by the palace guards, I could see the sad face dad was wearing, then I knew the meeting with the chieftains wasn't fruitful.

Growing up with my two older siblings Lisa and tarvan, Lisa was the fairest in the whole elf kingdom, but some would argue that I was more pretty and cute than her but one thing I know Lisa was good at was the playing of the flute, she would stay by the palace pool early in the morning playing the flute with so much enthusiasm, I could remember last year when the royal flutist fell ill during Elton's one-year birthday, Lisa took the bold step by leading the royal music band with her elegant and skillfully playing of the flute, mom and dad were happy that day, although the celebration was cut short when a messenger came into the palace with the news that one of the city at the outskirt of the capital was being attacked, it wasn't clear who the attackers were, but one thing was certain that if an attack were to be carried out on any city near the capital it surely would be the humans.

Tarvan was the tallest among us siblings with a very muscular feature, his calves, triceps, biceps,chest, arms and thighs were all built up strong and firm, one would say he took those looks from his maternal ancestral home because dad had neither of those features.

Tarvan was a great fan of the horse challenge cup,this was a sport our elf ancestors took from them humans during the days of peace that was a hundred years ago.

The game was keenly contested by several knights from the five different provinces and its capital,it involved racing to the end against your fellow Knights most times some knights usually took the leverage to assault others during the race although it was allowed in the rules of the game.

I could remember dad taking I, Lisa and tarvan to the battle arena when we were much smaller to watch the horse challenge cup, then we were much smaller, I would cry when I saw some knights fall off from there horses and tarvan would laugh at me.

Those memories made me smile with tears of joy each time recalled them.

The elf kingdom had its capital lao Doa towards the earthern mountain while its five provinces zenk, philia,pane, cres and aradon were all scattered around the capital

Each provinces were known for its peculiarity, Zenk was known for its much production in livestock and farming,Aradon produced more of the strong and mighty knights in the elf kingdom,cres had elves who were good at their fishing prowess,philia had the nobles and wealthiest elves in it, lower class elves couldn't afford living in philia even the middle class elves still complained about the cost of living, while pane was more of a political ambition city from the king and some nobles in the capital to decentralize the population in lao Doa,the capital on the other hand had just a bit of everything the nobles,royals,wealthy, farmers,middle class elves and the rest.

Hertha, Queen of the elf kingdom also mother to Lisa,Tarvan,Elton and I grew up from the fiercest province which is aradon known for its mightiest men and women.

Not much was known about mom's family because they weren't the wealthiest but rumors heard it that Kane,mom's dad aborted a coup staged by some knights to kill the former duke of aradon,that alone increased mom's family status but it also brought with it hate from some quarters of the knights.

However, from the little I know about dad,he didn't stay in the capital for too long.

His father king Aragon the third sent both dad and his twin brother to aradon when they were ten to learn the arts of war.

Dad came back to lao Doa the capital of the elf kingdom after the death of his older brother,prince Aragon the fourth.

Although the death of dad's older brother meant that dad,also known as prince eragon didn't go for battles any longer at least to preserve the royal bloodline.
