"BELOVED BT THE TWINS" by: Dark Flame Master This special chapter is about how Shin's mother discovered that Shin sprained his ankle which was mentioned in Chapter 12. Ruka and Luca, the twins made their regular visit to Shin’s mom one afternoon. Ever since they asked her if they could date her son the three of them had become really close. Shin’s mom, who had been surprised at first eventually accepted them because she could see how much they cared about Shin. They visited her often to make sure she wasn’t lonely and today was no different. As usual, Ruka opened the door to Shin’s mother’s hospital room without knocking. His face was lighting up with a big smile. “Mommmm! We’re here!” Ruka announced, his voice cheerful as always. He had started calling her “Mom” not long ago and she seemed to like it. Shin’s mom, lying comfortably in her hospital bed smiled warmly at the sound of his voice. Her days in the hospital could be long and boring but the twins always brought her a burst of life and energy. She looked over at them with a grin. “Are you two going to eat lunch?” she asked, looking at the boys with a knowing smile. She knew they almost always brought food with them whenever they visited. “Yes! Shin cooked lunch for us today!” Ruka said proudly as if he had made the meal himself. Luca, who was standing quietly behind his brother held up the lunch box they had brought for her. “Here,” he said, offering it to her with a small smile. “Thank you,” Shin’s mom said gratefully taking the lunch from Luca. “The food they give me here in the hospital isn’t exactly delicious,” she added with a playful roll of her eyes. Luca nodded seriously. “Yeah, I’ve tasted hospital food before. It’s not good.” “I know, right?” Ruka said. “Too bad Shin doesn’t always have the time to cook for us. His food is the best!” The twins sat down at the small table in the room opening their own lunch boxes to eat with Shin’s mom. The food Shin had prepared was simple but it was tasty and the twins were obviously enjoying it. Their faces lit up with each bite and Shin’s mom watched them with amusement. As they ate, Ruka couldn’t help but start talking about Shin. It had become something normal whenever they were around Shin’s mom. “Shin is so cute again today,” Ruka said between bites, his face glowing with happiness. “Every time I see him it’s like he gets cuter and cuter. It’s crazy, right?” Luca, used to his brother’s constant chatter about Shin just glanced over at Shin’s mom, raising an eyebrow as if to say, "Here we go again." Shin’s mom chuckled softly. She had gotten used to Ruka’s rants about her son and it always made her smile. “You really love him, don’t you?” she said, her voice was warm and amused. Ruka nodded eagerly. “Of course! I mean everything he does is just... I don’t know, it makes my heart race. I can’t handle it sometimes!” he said dramatically, putting his hand over his chest like he was about to faint. Luca, on the other hand was eating quietly but Shin’s mom noticed that he didn’t talk as much about Shin as Ruka did. “How about you, Luca?” she asked curiously. “You don’t really talk much about Shin. I’m starting to think Ruka loves him more than you do,” she teased gently. Luca paused for a moment then smiled a little. “I love Shin just as much,” he said calmly. “I just don’t feel like I need to be so loud about it. I don’t want to look childish like him,” he added, pointing his spoon at Ruka. “Childish? Who are you calling childish?” Ruka replied pretending to be offended. “You,” Luca said without missing a beat. “Childish? Ha! At least I’m not a creepy stalker,” Ruka said with a smirk knowing exactly how to get under his brother’s skin. “Stalker?” Shin’s mom asked, looking at Luca with curiosity. Ruka grinned mischievously. “Yeah, you didn’t know? Luca might seem all quiet and serious but his phone is full of pictures and videos of Shin. He even has some secret ones that he didn’t take in front of Shin.” Shin’s mom raised an eyebrow in surprise, then laughed. “So you are a stalker huh? Luca? Well, I might have to rethink letting you date my son if you’re going to be sneaky like that,” she joked, though her tone was lighthearted. Luca’s face turned red. He was clearly embarrassed by his brother’s teasing. “I’m not a stalker! It’s not like that! You already said we could date him!” He argued, his voice a bit flustered. Ruka wasn’t done with his teasing though. “Oh, but that’s not the worst part. You should see Luca’s phone. He even has a picture of Shin naked in the—” Before Ruka could finish, Luca grabbed a spoonful of rice and shoved it into Ruka’s mouth effectively shutting him up. “Naked?” Shin’s mom asked, her eyes widening in surprise. She wasn’t sure if Ruka was joking or telling the truth but she wanted to know more. Luca’s face turned even redder and he waved his hands around in a panic. “No, no, it’s not what you think! I didn’t mean for that to happen!” Shin’s mom looked at him seriously. “Luca, you promised me that you wouldn’t do anything with Shin until he turned 18. You boys better be keeping your word. Luca’s face fell. “It’s not like that! I didn’t do anything wrong, I swear!” Ruka finally swallowed the food Luca had stuffed into his mouth and jumped in to defend his brother. “Don’t worry, Mom we didn’t do anything weird. Shin just slipped in the bathroom and we were helping him that’s all,” he said quickly hoping to calm her down. “Slipped in the bathroom?” Shin’s mom repeated, now looking worried. “Is he okay?” Ruka’s face turned pale as he realized he had said something he wasn’t supposed to. “Oh no... I wasn’t supposed to say that. Please don’t tell Shin I told you!” he said, his voice shaking a little. Shin’s mom crossed her arms. “Ruka, I’m his mother. Of course I’m going to be concerned if my son hurts himself. Now, tell me what happened,” she said firmly not letting them avoid the subject. Luca sighed. “Okay, okay, I’ll explain,” he said, knowing there was no getting out of this now. “So yesterday, after Shin finished taking a bath he couldn’t find his clothes or his towel. He called for us and we went to help him but...” “But?” Shin’s mom pressed. Ruka took over the story. “Well, Luca here thought it would be funny to prank Shin so he swapped out Shin’s clothes with a pair of cat-pattern pajamas,” Ruka said, unable to keep the smile off his face. Shin’s mom couldn’t help but smile, too. “Cat-pattern pajamas? Really?” Luca nodded. “Yeah, I thought it would be cute,” he admitted. Ruka continued. “But when we went to give Shin the pajamas, I accidentally opened the bathroom door a little too much and Shin got scared and slipped on the wet floor. So he's resting now because he sprained his ankle” Shin’s mom shook her head, sighing in frustration. “You boys need to be more careful. You can’t just play around like that. You have to take care of him if he’s hurt.” Luca nodded solemnly. “We will, Mom. We promise.” Ruka, being his usual self couldn’t resist saying one more thing. “But you know, seeing Shin’s body up close like that... I couldn’t help but think how sexy he looked. He’s got a really nice body, you know? It’s kind of a turn—” “Stop right there!” Shin’s mom interrupted, holding up her hand. “I don’t need to hear about how attractive you think my son is. Keep those thoughts to yourselves, alright?” Ruka blushed, realizing he had crossed a line. “Sorry, Mom.” They finished their lunch quietly after cleaning up the room and making sure everything was tidy. Despite the teasing, they enjoyed spending time with Shin’s mom and she appreciated their company more than she let on. As they were getting ready to leave Ruka suddenly looked a little anxious. “Hey, Luca... what if Shin doesn’t want to be with us when he turns 18? What if he says no?” Luca paused, thinking about it for a moment. “Well, if he prefers girls there’s not much we can do about that. We’ll have to respect his choice.” Shin’s mom who had been listening, smiled knowingly. “Girls? I don’t think you have to worry about that,” she said, her tone teasing. Ruka looked at her with wide eyes. “Wait, what do you mean?” Shin’s mom chuckled. “Let’s just say, I don’t think Shin is going to say no to you two. And besides you don’t have to wait much longer. His birthday is next month.” Luca’s eyes widened. “Next month? When exactly?” Shin’s mom leaned in and whispered the exact date to the twins
