"BELOVED BY THE TWINS"
by: Dark Flame Master
The twins, Ruka and Luca arrived at the hospital like they did every day. Their routine was always the same. They check patients’ medical history, help with minor tasks, and assist wherever they are needed. It was tiring work but they were used to it by now. As they were busy organizing a stack of patient records Luca noticed that Ruka was still thinking about earlier.
"Ruka, you really need to stop bothering about Juri," Luca said while arranging the documents.
"But she’s so annoying," Ruka muttered, clearly irritated.
“At least Shin has someone to protect him at school now," Luca replied, trying to calm his brother down.
Ruka crossed his arms, frowning. "But does she have to be that clingy?"
Luca looked over at Ruka and smirked. "Are you jealous?"
Ruka looked away for a moment, then replied, “Well... aren’t you?”
Luca shrugged but a faint blush crossed his face. “I am, but did you see Shin’s face earlier? He looked so cute when he was with her.”
Ruka sighed, knowing his brother was right. “Yeah... you're right,” he admitted, his cheeks also turning red.
Luca glanced around to make sure no one was looking. Then he quickly hugged Ruka.
"I thought you didn’t like doing this in public," Ruka whispered, feeling slightly embarrassed.
"No one’s looking though," Luca replied with a smile.
Ruka grinned and whispered back, "Bend down a little."
Luca leaned forward slightly and Ruka seized the moment and kissed Luca lightly on the lips.
“Hey, stop that!” Luca said, his face a mix of surprise and amusement.
“What? I thought no one was looking,” Ruka teased, a playful grin on his face.
“Okay, but don’t do that again,” Luca mumbled, trying to sound serious but failing to hide his smile.
Ruka sighed, leaning back into his chair. “You know, I’m not that sad because I still have you,” he said softly.
Luca leaned in close and whispered into Ruka’s ear, “Wanna do it tonight?”
Ruka’s eyes widened and he nodded silently.
They went back to arranging the documents, trying to focus on their work. After finishing with the paperwork they moved on to their other tasks. The hospital was always busy and their job wasn’t just limited to sorting files. They had to walk around the wards, check on patients, and assist the doctors with whatever they needed. It was exhausting but they knew the real doctors had it even harder.
As they were finishing up another task, one of the nurses called out, “Hey, Ruka!”
Both twins looked up at the nurse.
“Um... Ruka?” The nurse looked confused, glancing back and forth between the identical faces.
“What?” they both answered in unison.
The nurse shook her head, clearly not wanting to waste time figuring out who was who. “Forget it. Just come with me,” she said.
“Where are we going?” Ruka asked as they trailed behind her.
“There’s been a call from an elementary school nearby. Some students might have food poisoning, but we’re not sure yet,” the nurse explained, walking quickly.
“Are the students coming here?” Luca asked.
“No, they don’t have time for that. We’re heading there to give them first aid, and then we’ll bring them to the hospital if needed,” the nurse replied.
The twins exchanged a glance before nodding. "Got it," they said.
When they arrived at the school, they saw teachers trying to help the sick students and worried parents gathering outside the gate. The twins immediately took action asking the teachers what had happened.
One of the teachers sighed in frustration. “Some of the kids ate from the food stall in front of the school. We think that’s what caused this.”
Luca decided to investigate the food stall, leaving Ruka to help with the students. When he arrived at the stall he quickly realized the problem. The kitchen was filthy, food left out in the open, and the cooking utensils were dirty. It was no surprise that the students had fallen ill.
Ruka, on the other hand was busy with the students. He knelt down in front of a young boy who was crying uncontrollably, clearly scared and in pain. Ruka tried his best to stay calm but it was hard seeing the child in such distress.
Luca returned from his inspection and noticed Ruka struggling with the boy. He walked over to help kneeling beside Ruka.
"Woah, did you clone yourself, Mr. Doctor?" the boy asked, his tear-filled eyes widening in surprise as he saw Luca.
Ruka couldn’t help but chuckle at the child’s reaction. "Aren’t I cool?" he said, trying to make the boy smile.
The boy sniffled and wiped his eyes. “Teach me how to do it!”
Ruka leaned in, lowering his voice as if he were sharing a secret. "All you have to do is sleep well and ask in your dream to give you the ability to clone yourself," he whispered.
The boy’s eyes lit up with hope. “Really?”
Ruka nodded. “Yes, really. But first, you have to stop crying.”
The boy immediately stopped crying, determined to gain his new "power." Ruka and Luca exchanged amused glances as they continued their work.
After giving the students first aid, they helped transport the more serious cases back to the hospital. Once there, the nurse instructed them to take a break.
"What did you just tell that kid?" Luca asked at Ruka’s explanation.
"He wouldn’t stop crying! I had to say something," Ruka replied, shrugging his shoulders.
“But you could’ve come up with something better than that!” Luca teased. “The poor kid is going to be disappointed when he doesn’t wake up with a clone tomorrow.”
Ruka just grinned and shook his head, happy to have made the boy smile.
As the night approached, they noticed the boy they had helped earlier leaving the hospital looking much better. The twins waved at him as he went home with his parents.
“Do you have anything else to do tonight?” Luca asked, stretching his arms.
“Yeah, I just need to check on one last patient,” Ruka replied.
“Is it the new girl in room 301?” Luca asked.
“Yes,” Ruka said, glancing at the chart in his hand.
“Then I’ll come with you,” Luca said, standing up.
They walked together to room 301 where they found a young woman sitting up in bed. She smiled as they entered.
“Good evening, Ai,” Ruka greeted her.
Ai blinked, her eyes moving from Ruka to Luca. “Wait... there’s two of you?” she said, surprised.
“Hi! It’s our first time meeting,” Luca said with a friendly smile.
“Yes, but it feels like we’ve met before because you two look so alike,” Ai replied with a chuckle.
Ruka smiled back before sending a quick text to Shin asking what he was up to.
“So, how are you feeling? Does your head still hurt?” Ruka asked, focusing on Ai’s condition.
Ai nodded. “It still hurts, especially at night. Maybe it’s because it gets colder then.”
Ruka felt his phone buzz again but he ignored it for the moment, listening to Ai’s response.
“Sorry, I just need to check this,” Ruka said, finally pulling out his phone. When he opened the message, his mood darkened instantly. It was a photo from Juri, showing Shin sleeping peacefully on her bed with her in the background doing a peace sign.
"What happened?" Ai asked, noticing Ruka’s change in expression.
“There’s this short, annoying girl, and she just sent me this,” Ruka muttered, showing the picture to Ai and Luca.
Luca chuckled and responded to the text. "He’s cute. Take more pictures," he typed and sent.
To their surprise, Ai’s eyes widened when she saw the picture. Ruka noticed her reaction and raised an eyebrow.
"You know her?" Ruka asked.
Ai hesitated for a moment before nodding. “Yeah, that’s Juri... she’s my ex.”
Ruka blinked, clearly shocked by the revelation. Before he could say anything, Luca spoke up.
“Can you give me her account?” Luca asked, his tone more serious than before.
“Why do you need it?” Ai asked, looking confused.
“I just want to ask her something,” Luca replied.
After a brief pause, Ai gave Luca Juri’s account information.
"Thanks," Luca said, typing quickly on his phone.
Meanwhile at Juri’s apartment, she was sitting on her sofa deep in thought. She couldn’t help but feel a little envious of Shin. He had not just one but two people who loved him so much. Juri sighed, wondering if she’d ever experience something like that again.
Her phone suddenly buzzed, snapping her out of her thoughts. She glanced at the screen and saw it was a video call request. Confused, she answered it. To her surprise, one of the twins appeared on the screen sitting on a couch.
“Take more pictures of Shin and send them to me. Also, where do you live?” Luca demanded.
“How did you get my account?” Juri asked, her eyes narrowing suspiciously.
"Secret. Just do what I tell you," Luca replied nonchalantly.
Juri raised an eyebrow. “You really want to see him?”
“Yeah, but don’t wake him up,” Luca insisted.
Rolling her eyes, Juri turned the camera towards Shin’s sleeping face. Shin lay there peacefully, his chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. Luca’s expression softened as he looked at the screen.
"Happy?" Juri asked, her voice laced with irritation.
Luca grinned. "Yeah, very happy. We’re going to your house later but take another picture of him first. Bye," he said, ending the call before Juri could respond.
Juri stared at her phone, stunned. “What a jerk,” she muttered under her breath, feeling a mixture of annoyance and unease.
