Chapter 2-1

Chapter Two RENA Tossing the towel on the bed, I strolled out of the bathroom with my lotion in hand. Today had been a day I didn’t expect. When I confronted Sante about getting me fired, he wanted to play it off, but I knew he was a sneaky bastard when I saw one. Samira told me that I was let go because I showed up late too many times and received complaints. Who does something so childish and gets a person fired? McKayla thought I was crazy for going up there and confronting him, but I didn’t give a damn what he thought or how I looked in front of his brothers or staff. This job was all I knew and what I loved to do. Growing up, I wanted to be a designer and make all my clothes. My brother and I grew up without our father, and the pressure put on my mom to get us through school was hard on her. I liked to take in those times and be grateful because they made me a stronger person who didn’t take s**t from anyone. I dropped the robe and scanned my body again. Even though no bullets hit me, I still dropped to the ground fast and scarred my leg. “Here you go. Rena, please put some clothes on.” McKayla shook her head and passed the tray of soup and a bottle of water to me. I called her on my way home and checked if she could sit with me. At first, Savio was against her leaving the house, but McKayla told him she’d sneak out if he didn’t agree, but he did force her to drive over with the entire military force. “Why? This is my house and bedroom.” I planted my hands on my hips, tilting my head to the right. “I’m a guest, and we have bodyguards in the living room.” “Who cares? They’ll welcome a little T&A for a change compared to today’s events.” She waved me off and sat on the bed, rubbing her stomach. “Tell me again what happened.” I groaned and stomped over to the closet to pick out a short shirt set to change into. “I confronted Sante in the office about getting me fired, then left.” “Are you positive he was the one who got you fired?” “Who else would have done it, McKayla?” “Be honest with yourself. You really didn’t like the job.” “Honestly, as my best friend, you should be on my side.” I grabbed my brush and combed my hair into a ponytail away. “Where are you going?” “To my mom’s.” “How is she doing?” McKayla reached her hand out for help to stand. I ran a hand across her pregnant belly. “How far along are you now?” “Eight months.” McKayla blew out a breath. “Is Savio ready for fatherhood?” “He has no choice. All this is his fault,” she joked. I grabbed my purse and sauntered out of my room. “Surprised he let you out of the house.” “I threatened to sneak out.” I grasped the knob, and a guard jumped up and blocked me. “Miss Clark, we have instructions to keep you inside.” “On whose orders?” “Mr. Sante.” I c****d my head at McKayla. “How am I being forced to stay in my apartment when I’ve done nothing wrong and have no relationship to this family?” “Rena maybe call her.” I stomped my foot. “No! You might let them run your life, but I don’t, McKayla. This is ridiculous. Move out of my way.” I tried to push him aside, but he didn’t budge. “We can’t let you do that,” he replied, cuffing his hands. I reached in my purse and pulled out my g*n and pointed at him, McKayla gasped. “Rena!” “Either you move on your own, or I move you myself.” He held up his hands in surrender, and I smirked. “Thank you.” I opened the door and walked out. “Rena, hold up!” McKayla shouted. I poked my head back in the apartment. “Ma’am, we can’t let you go. She’s not Savio’s wife, so we can’t force her,” he declared, blocking her from leaving. “Don’t worry, I’ll call you later.” I blew her a kiss and headed to the awaiting car service I had ordered earlier. “Where to, ma’am?” “Home to Naperville.” Ring! Sante: You pulled a g*n on my men? I chuckled and replied. Rena: Yep. Sante: Are you f*****g crazy? Rena: Yes and I told you that the first time you kidn*pped me.
