"Are you crazy?!" Freya blinked her eyes as she took few steps into the room.
"Exactly, what you think I'm doing?!" She repeated his words flabbergasted, a bile forming at the back of her throat. She couldn't believe he would say that to her. Kane rubbed his temple while the woman laying beside him with a sinister look on her face as she stared at Freya smirked.
She had tempting blue eyes which could drown her preys if they stared too long into them. She didn't bother to cover herself in the presence of Freya as her plump breast protruded proudly. Her black long wavy hair were a mess, lips swollen and red from kissing Kane for what felt like eternity and her slender body was perfect, having curves at the right places and her smooth ivory skin glistened under the chandelier lights in the room.
"I can't believe you dated someone like her, darling. She's just a mere weak human..." The woman snickered, placing her tender fingers on Kane's bare chest, and leaned her head on his shoulder.
Darling?
Weak Human? What the hell was going on?!
What nonsense was the woman talking about?
"That's what makes them interesting... weak!" Kane said, his eyes boring into Freya.
What?
Freya just wanted to wake up from this nightmare, she really hoped it was a nightmare... one she would eventually wake up from.
In all these while, Freya never thought Kane would betray her this way. He had portrayed the perfect gentle, loyal man, stealing Freya's heart and locking her in, but this—this was beyond betrayal, deception, and he decided to show his true color on their anniversary.
Freya's eyes had become a dam, streaming tears without control, her feet weak as she looked at Kane, hoping he would at least say something to her, an explanation, anything...to justify his action.
"Why?" Freya questioned, her world turning into void and sinking into nothingness that would last a lifetime.
"Wh-why did you do this to me?" Her voice broke, lips quivering as she spoke, each word carrying a weight of distress and sadness.
"How could you do this to me!" She fired suddenly, her voice growing more tensed and angry, hot tears rolled down her cheeks and dropped to the floor.
Kane didn't say anything, instead he stared at her with contempt, gave her a condescending and irritated look.
"Say something! Say something Kane!!" Freya busted but Kane remained silent, his eyes prying at her while the woman beside him rolled her eyes.
Freya's face twisted into frustration, Kane just resting his back against the headboard and not saying anything just made her look like a fool, but she won't relent until she got the answers she needed from him while she would ignore the shameless woman beside him. Her business was with Kane and not the woman, even though it took all the self-control in her not to jump on the bed and scratch the lady's pretty face who had been staring direfully at her.
"Kane!"
"I-I..."
"Well, since you are here, I shouldn't deprive you of an introduction, should I?" Kane scoffed, and Freya's jaw hung in the air.
Kane placed his hand over the woman's shoulder, pulling her even closer to himself, and the woman giggled. "Meet Donna, my mate. She's going to be my wife and Luna of my pack soon." Kane dropped and Freya was dumbstruck, dumbfounded in fact.
"Oh, darling, I can't wait to be fully yours," the woman smiled at Kane, leaned closer, and placed a short kiss on his lips before throwing her malicious gaze at Freya.
A pompous look on her face, telling Freya she had won her man to herself.
For a minute, Freya doesn't know if this was a joke or if he was being serious. Did he just say mate?
"Your mate?" Freya muttered, she was confused, but then something snapped in her as she glared at Kane.
"You must think I'm a fool to believe all the nonsense you just spouted." Freya shot, her hands balling into a fist by her side.
She was angry, and one thing she hated was people taking her as a fool!
"What?" Kane's countenance darkened as he stared at the woman he had once claimed to love. His brows arched at her as he frowned.
"What the hell do you mean by she's your mate, Luna?!" Freya blasted then chuckled painfully to herself, this was quite amusing for her, "This is not a fantasy world, Kane," her heart constricted with an ache, and her head—it seemed as if everything around her was starting to spin.
"The human girl doesn't know?" Donna asked in a mocking tone, staring at Kane, and she laughed and Freya diverted her attention to the woman, their eyes meeting since she had stepped into the room.
"Doesn't know what?" Freya gritted, glaring with pure hatred for the woman.
"That your boyfriend is a werewolf, or should I say ex-boyfriend," she smirked and Freya looked at Kane.
"A werewolf?" Freya inquired with a creased brow, her features tensing up as she tried to register what the woman had said.
"Kane, what the hell is she talking about?"
"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk, there's so much you need to know about the world, girl!" Donna spoke and Freya snapped at her. Her eyes burned with fury.
Freya was getting annoyed of the vile lady answering her questions when she didn't ask for her opinion, but the woman ignored her and continued talking on behalf of Kane.
"My sweet Kane here is the Alpha of the Stormbringer pack and just as he said earlier, I'm going to be his wife and Luna of the pack because I'm his mate," she informed happily and Freya gaped speechlessly.
This was truly a nightmare and she doubts she would be waking up from this one.
Freya shook her head, it was difficult for her to comprehend what was going on. First, is her boyfriend cheating on her and not being remorseful about it and second is this b***h revealing to her that her boyfriend wasn't a human and is a werewolf.
"It's not true!" Freya muttered to herself, her legs growing weak.
She shakes her head in disbelief, her eyes red and teary, "It's all a lie," she said, looking up and staring at Kane.
"Tell me the truth, Kane!" She demanded, releasing and fisting her hands by the side, her knuckles growing weary.
"Don't just f*****g sit there and look at me! Tell me she's lying that all what she said it's not true, Kane." Freya stared at him, her bloodshot eyes coming in contact with his.
Kane sighed, standing up from the bed and wore his brief, then turned to face Freya, his face calm and collected. "You should leave while you can," he said sternly while Donna twittered on the bed enjoying the show.
"What?!" Freya gaped, her eyes bulging from their sockets as she stared unbelievably at Kane.
Kane took a step forward, his tall height and manly body intimidating as his gaze struck at the woman before him, his jaw clenching hard. "You weren't mine to begin with," he seethed, his sharp jawline slicing through his words and Freya gasped.
Freya shook her head, fresh tears welling up in her eyes. "Please, no..." she whispered, it was breaking her to see the man she loved dearly do this to her.
Something was wrong somewhere.
She swallowed. "Kane," she called his name softly. "You can't do this to me... remember what you used to say to me," she covered the distance between them.
"That no matter what comes between us, no matter what challenges we faced, you will always be there for me. Kane, I need you... please!" Something flickered in Kane as he heard those words coming desperately from Freya's lips, but before it could sink in, something in him snapped— something dangerous.
Freya turned pale as soon as she looked into Kane's eyes. They weren't the beautiful hazel eyes that used to break her resistance and tempt her, instead they were different— glowing golden eyes screaming at her to run while she could.
"Yo-your ey-eyes..." Freya stumbled back in fear and Kane grabbed her arm, pulling her closer to his body before she could be out of reach from him.
He sneered showing his canine teeth which had grown two inches longer and thicker. "I told you to f*****g leave!" He growled like a feral beast, and Freya's knees bucked, her blood running cold as she looked at the monster in front of her.
This wasn't the man she had fallen in love with... this was someone else, a beast, a monster—a devil!
Freya trembled when she realized his nails had grown into claws and were sinking into her flesh.
"Please!" she sobbed.
"Tsk! You made the Alpha angry, now you believe what he actually is," Donna smirked, coming up behind Kane.
She hugged Kane, pressing her breasts flat on his back. "Let the weak human go, darling, you have better things to do than waste your time on her," Donna cooed.
Kane pushed Freya to the ground away from him. "Leave and I never want to see your face again!" he warned.
Freya, shuddering in fear, nodded her head and scurried to her feet, running out of the penthouse as fast as she could.
Freya gasped ceaselessly, choking, and her entire body trembling from within. Her chest constricted painfully, and it was difficult for her to breathe as she inhaled and exhaled sharply, walking barefooted on the street—she was having a panic attack.
She had run out of the penthouse in stunned horror, forgetting she had brought her car to the building.
Tears of agony shot out from her eyes as the cold wind slapped her face harshly, reminding her of the cruel reality she was in.
Kane was a werewolf? She thought those mythical creatures existed only in books, but she had lived to see one in her life, the one she had fallen in love with.
Freya's legs came to a halt weakly, she couldn't walk anymore.
Why was this happening to her? She looked up at the dark sky sparkling with bright stars.
Why! She thought as began to sob loudly, crying her heart out. She cried so much that she wished for it all to end. She starts to feel uneasy within herself, something strange and odd, like a seizure in her chest that wanted to explode.
Freya gasped for air, she was tired, and her legs started to move again. As she walked, her fragile heart drifted to the happy moments she had with Kane.
She suddenly remembers his loving and tender kisses, the late-night calls, or him reading her favorite books with his deep voice. She remembers how he would come up behind her to tease her, she remembered his gentle touch, his charming smile, and his handsome physique that made her lower belly churn anytime she saw him.
She remembered how he would stay up the whole night for her each time she was sick or had trouble sleeping at night. She remembered how he had left his business meeting just to be with her when she informed him she had a minor accident. Kane was caring and loving to her, the perfect gentleman, he always made sure to prioritize her first. She remembered it all... there was no way he could have been that monster she saw tonight—a werewolf?
Freya was so deep and lost in her thoughts that she didn't know when she had absent-mindedly crossed the road and a huge truck was coming her way in a high speed, which had been honking relentlessly for her to get out of the way.
Finally, Freya jolted from her trance, but it was too late. She gasped, realizing this was the last straw for her. Her legs rooted to the ground, unable to move.
The persistent honk and terrifying flashlight that shone on her made her realize that her life was flashing right in front of her.
So, this was it for her?
This was how it was going to end for her.
A last single tear escaped Freya's eyes as she stretched her left hand in fear towards the truck waiting to be hit and thrown into the afterlife as she as already accepted her fate.
Maybe then Kane would regret what he had done to her if he heard of her dismissal.
To Freya's surprise, something stirred in her, a surging amount of adrenaline rushed and pumped through her veins, increasing the rate of her blood flow and her hands burned.
What was happening to her? Before Freya could process what had taken over her body because she had never felt anything like that in her entire lifetime, a blue lightening glow erupted from her palm sending shocking waves through her body and her surroundings.
The truck, which was barely away from her, flipped and tumbled, tires screeching violently in the air before it landed with an unexplainable amount of force and crashed on its side on the road, shooting broken pieces of glass and metal.
Freya breathed hard, her whole body was burning as she looked at her hands which glowed in faint yellow. She stared at the catastrophe she had done and how the truck was crushed beyond repair, and her eyes widened in fear and anxiety.
What the hell just happened?
Her breath ceased before she could think it through, her head banging like it would burst at any moment.
Freya's body went numb, and she fell to the ground unconsciously, everything around her blacking out.
