Slowly, Freya opened her eyes. Her vision was impaired and almost blurry. The bright white ceiling and walls almost blinded her.
"Where am I?" She groaned softly, taking in her surroundings as she tried to sit up on the bed and noticed her dress had been changed. She was wearing a patient robe.
"You are in the hospital, dear," Freya heard a bizarre voice that made her gasp and turned her head towards the person who had spoken and saw an old lady sitting beside her and smiling sweetly at her.
"Wh-who are you? And wh-what am I... am I doing here?" Freya asked incoherently, and a sharp pain sliced through her head.
She suddenly remembers what transpired between her and the truck that was moving towards her and how something strange had erupted from her hand, causing the truck to tumble over.
She became scared as her fingers quaked in a tremendous act, wondering if that was her doing and if the driver of the truck was okay.
"Calm down, dear little one," the old lady said, a small smile hanging on her lips, she grabbed a piece of a small white kerchief to wipe Freya's sweat.
"The driver is alright," she informed as if reading Freya's mind.
Freya wondered who the strange old lady was, since she hadn't said anything about herself yet. The woman was uniquely beautiful for her age. Less crinkled face, full silver white hair which was permed and styled in dazzling curls. Red-coated lips that brought out the lively spark of grey eyes she had, and not to mention she was dressed in a lovely designer channel dress and adorned in golden jewelry that screamed wealth.
"I'm Velena," she introduced, her eyes twinkling at the corner.
"Are you the one who brought me here?" Freya asked, curiously, staring at the old woman.
"Just listen to me, child." The woman responded.
Freya gave a troubled look, "Before you brought me here, I-I..." her voice faded as she glanced away, not knowing how to explain herself.
Velena touched Freya's arm, trying to calm the swirl of storm raging inside of her. "You are more powerful than you think, dear," Velena revealed, and Freya's brows furrowed.
"What are you talking about?" Freya questioned, unsure of what the old woman was telling her.
Velena heaved and drew her chair closer to Freya's sick bed. "There is a great power lying within you, greater than you can ever think of, child," she disclosed and Freya squeezed her face in confusion, still not grasping what the old lady was telling her.
"What power?" She inquired.
Velena smacked her lips, "How do you think you were able to throw the huge truck over the edge?" The woman asked her, and Freya's eyes widened in fear—panic.
So, that was her doing after all? She still refused to believe it.
"I-I don't get..." Freya uttered.
"You are no mere human, child, you come from a powerful bloodline, one that has existed for ages... you have the silverborn ancient bloodline running deep in your veins." The old woman elaborated, and Freya still couldn't wrap her head around what the old lady was telling her.
Freya grimaced. "Silverborn? What are you talking about? I still don't understand," she said, and Velena sighed.
She reached out to Freya's cold hand and grabbed it with her both hands, "You will understand once the time is right, dear." The old woman smiled at her.
Freya's mind was disoriented... this has to be a joke. There were so many questions she wanted to ask the strange lady, but the migraine in her head wouldn't allow her.
"So, for now, you just need to rest and take care of your unborn child in your womb," the old woman added and Freya jerked, yanking her hand from the woman's grasp.
Unborn child?
"What unborn child?" she gasped, her eyes widening in shock as she stared at the old woman.
"You don't know?" Velena c****d a brow at her and when Freya didn't answer, it dawned on her that there were a lot of things Freya still needed to figure out about herself.
"Oh, you poor dear," Velena clicked her tongue at Freya and shook her head.
"The child you're carrying in your womb is going to be great and even more powerful than you are," the old woman said, and Freya let out a noxious chuckle.
"No!" she laughed painfully, her heart constricting with profound ache.
Freya shook her head, "No! I can't be pregnant..." she uttered.
"But you are, dear," Velena tried to say.
"No!!" Freya screamed at the old woman, her eyes becoming teary and gleaming with sadness. "I-I can't be preg-pregnant for that monster," her lips quivered, her entire nerve system shuddering as she stared at the old woman.
Velena stared at her with pity, and Freya thought she must have really hit her head so badly when she fainted and was beginning to hallucinate.
It was better if the truck had hit her, and she had died than to be hearing this news, that this strange woman she knew nothing about was feeding her.
"Just make sure to keep the baby safe, hun," the woman reminded her, and Freya shot an angry glare at her.
"Who the hell are you, anyway?" Freya fired when she heard the door slide open, and she averted her attention to the door to see a pretty nurse walk in with a notepad in her left arm.
"Hey, you're finally awake!" The nurse said vibrantly, getting closer to Freya.
"How long was I out?" Freya asked the nurse who was beginning to check her temperature and scribbled on her notepad.
"Two days," the nurse answered, and Freya's eyes widened.
What?
She turned to look at the old woman who was there with her, but no one was in the chair beside her bed.
Freya's eyes bulged as she blinked profusely in shock.
Where did the old woman go? They were just talking before the nurse came in.
"Your vitals are checked and normal and your temperature is quite stable now," the nurse informed her, but Freya was astonished.
"Uhm, did you see any old lady sitting beside me when you came in?" Freya asked the nurse, turning her head to stare at her.
The nurse creased her brows, throwing a skeptical look at Freya, "There was no one in your room," she answered.
"But someone was just sitting here with me just now, her name goes by Velena," Freya argued, but the nurse pressed her lips into a thin line confused about what Freya was saying because she knew for sure no one had come to her room nor visited her.
"I don't know anyone who goes by the name Velena that has come to see you, and no one has visited you either since you were brought in here," the nurse stated and Freya swallowed, her throat getting dry.
"What?" She muttered to herself, she was just talking to someone just now, before the nurse had entered the room. She was sure of it.
"Who brought me here?" Freya asked the nurse.
"You were rescued by the paramedics when hit by the truck," the nurse said, and Freya flashed a shocking gaze at the nurse.
"I was hit?" She questioned, unsure of what was going on, but had she not made the truck tumble over on its own.
What the hell was happening to her?
"Yes, but you need not to worry. There was no internal injury in your body, just minor scratches and to top it all, your baby is doing just fine." The nurse informed with a small smile and Freya coughed, almost choking.
What?!
She had a baby? A f*****g baby was growing in her belly.
How?
"A ba-baby?" She gasped.
"I-I have a baby?" She cried and wheezed.
That can't be true! No way in hell was that true.
"You don't know? You're six weeks gone already," the nurse stated, giving Freya a worried look.
Freya looked at the nurse, her eyes watering as a tear slid off her face.
How was it possible she was having a baby for a monster, a devil... a man who deserted her?
How?
Fucking how?
Freya began to hyperventilate, her panic attacks began to resurface.
The nurse hurried to hold her in place, "Please calm down and hang on tight, I will get the doctor for you, you're showing signs of traumatic brain injury," the nurse said worriedly before pressing the intercom and shouting for someone to get a doctor.
The monitor screen checking Freya's heart rate began to run high and low in figures at the same time. She was convulsing. She heard a group of voices in the background but Freya's mind wasn't available.
How does she deal with herself having some unknown power and having a baby for Kane?
She was f*****g pregnant for Kane?!
