Jace POV

Gem went to the right, Devon went left, and Dylan and I went straight. We were wondering around hoping to catch a scent but there were too many people around. It was hard to make out any one scent. Dylan and I used this time to catch up a little. “How is everyone doing Dylan?” I ask. “Good, mom and dad are traveling my Beta Carter and Stacey are here,” he says. “Have they found their mates yet?” I ask. “Carter did about six months ago, but Stacey has not.” Was his reply. I heard Gem come through my mind link that she found her mate but that it was only him and his father in the room. What shocked me was that she said he was a dragon. I told her OK and closed the link. “Well, Gem found her mate. He was with his father but not the others. Also, she said they are dragons,” I tell Dylan. We both stop walking and look at each other. “I thought dragons were extinct,” he says. “Me too. I wonder if the other people with him were dragons as well. That could mean that our mates are dragons, if that’s what they really are,” I say. I start grinning and so does he. We share a look that says this is going to be great. Dylan has also been approached by the council to take a chosen Luna, and just like me, has told them to shove it. The council is going to be furious. It will be great.

As we continue walking, I hear my father coming up behind us. “Hello boys, anything new going on?” He asks. Without thinking it tell him, “not really other than Gem found her mate and is in the back getting to know him.” As soon as I said that I realized what I did. My dad got a look on his face and took off towards the back exit. I tried to stop him but it was no use. I warned Gem via link. I told Dylan to keep looking and I would find him after this ordeal. I followed dad into the back yard and listened to what was being said. I was impressed with how MJ carried himself and how he responded to my father. You could tell that he was going to be in charge and that he had the dominance to do it. I was still a little shocked when he confirmed that he was indeed a dragon. My dad seemed to be satisfied for the moment and went back inside.

I introduced myself to him and asked about the others he was with. I didn’t understand why he started laughing after telling him what my hopeful mate smelt like. He stopped and then told me that that scent belonged to a woman named Mina. ‘Mina. I love her name.’ my wolf purrs out. ‘Really, purring. You are not a cat.’ I tell him. Xavier only growls at me but does not respond. I can see that MJ is linking someone, I assume Mina. He then tells me that she is in the library on the second floor with two other women. I take off like a shot, back to the mansion. I barrel through the door and link Devon where I am headed. I run past Dylan on my way to the stairs. I hear him right behind me. “What are you doing?” He yells to me. “The girls we are looking for are in the library,” I say without stopping. We both come to a stop at the library door and almost run into Devon. We all look at each other and head into the library.

Once we are in, I am hit with the intoxicating scent of lilac and mint again, only stronger. I follow it to a seating area that has three women talking. They all stop talking and their heads snap towards us. They all get up and stare wide eyed at us. My eyes zero in on the most beautiful women I have ever seen. She has long brown hair and sapphire blue eyes, tanned skin and a toned body. She was about 5’8”. She was just perfect. I walked closer to her as she walked closer to me. I was reaching out to her when all of a sudden, my trance was broken by the most annoying voice.

Anna calls out to me, “Oh Jace, I have been looking everywhere for you.” She wraps her arms around one of mine. I look at her like I am going to throw her out the window, ‘that doesn’t sound like a bad idea,’ Xavier comments. I hear a loud, deathly growl. I look up to see my beautiful mate with her teeth bared and canines elongated. It was such a turn on. “Get your slutty hands off of my mate,” she says, as she advances on Anna. Anna’s eyes widen for a moment before she responds, “as if he is your mate. I am his chosen mate.” Mina looks at me with hurt in her eyes. Damnit! I rip my arm out of Anna’s grip, turn to her. I grab her hard on both shoulders and look her straight in the eye so she knows I am talking to her and in a deep growl of mine and Xavier’s voices say, “I told you to never touch you again, that you were out of your mind and that hell would freeze over before I made you my mate. Now get out of here before I throw you out of the window, or, I might just let my mate take care of you. She looks like she wants to kill you. Being thrown out the window may be a mercy compared to what she might do.” Anna’s eyes widen, but she listens and runs out of the library crying.

I turn to Mina, “I am so sorry. What she said is not true. The council has been on me to…” I am cut off with her covering my mouth. I feel sparks where she is touching me. “It’s OK. You don’t have to apologize or try to get me to believe you. If she was telling the truth you would not have treated her like that. And you are right. Throwing her out the window would have been a mercy, although not a bad idea,” she tells me with a smile. Xavier purrs in my head again, ‘mate it feisty. I like that. She will be a great Luna and wonderful mother.’ I close the link with him and smile down at my mate. I wrap her in my arms and pull her close so I can take in her scent. I nuzzle into her neck as she does the same. We stay like that for I don’t know how long. I hear a throat being cleared behind me. I look up and turn around and there is a man that I do not know standing there with a smirk on his face. “I see you three have found your mates,” he says. I look around and sure enough, Devon is holding onto the blonde with green eyes, and Dylan is holding the redhead, green eyed girl.

“Hi Blade, what’s up,” I hear Mina ask. “I was coming to get you to tell you that MJ found his mate, but it looks like you found yours. Why do you all get a mate while me and Steele are still looking for ours?” He feigns hurt. Mina sighs and says, “I’m sure you will find her soon.” “I will leave you be, but the meeting for leaders is starting soon. I am assuming that you two need to be there,” he says pointing to Dylan and me. We nod to him. He then looks Devon straight in the eye, if you hurt my sister, I will slow roast you. With that he leaves. Devon is slightly pale but recovers quickly, “As if I would even dream of hurting my love,” he scoffs.

I look down at Mina, “I must confess that MJ told me you were here, he is mated to my sister,” I tell her. She and the other girls start to laugh. I just look at Devon and Dylan and then ask, “OK, MJ laughed when I told him your scent and asked where you were. Why is everyone laughing at this?” She says, “MJ is my brother, we are siblings mated to siblings. It’s a little funny.” I laugh at that. It is funny. “It makes sense to me, as my family is among the strongest werewolves in history and your family is dragon royalty so it makes sense that the Moon Goddess would put our families together since she is combining wolves and dragons.” I state. She nods her head and says, “my name is Mina, this is Cara and Ember,” she points to the blonde and redhead in order. I look at clock and sigh, “We need to go. The meeting is about to start. Mina, I would like you to come with me. The council has been trying to force me to take a chosen mate and they need to know that I have found you.” Devon and Dylan say the same to Cara and Ember and I just smile thinking how pissed the council is going to be. This is going to be an interesting meeting. “Oh, I did not introduce myself. I am Jace Black, alpha of the Black Diamond pack.” I say as we head out of the library to the meeting hall.

Mina POV

Cara, Ember, and I left my father and brother to talk with the other, I assume, leaders once we got into the mansion. Blade and Steele, got distracted by the snack table, shocker there, those two are like bottomless pits. MJ is not much better, he would probably be with them if he didn’t have to be with my father right now. Those three have always been close friends, just like Cara, Ember and I. We make our way through the mansion and head up a set of elaborate, vintage looking stairs. We see a pair of double doors and go through them. It is a library. We walk through the library and hear a few girls talking. We round the corner and see three girls talking by a window. We catch the last bit of their conversation about how they can’t wait to go home with the men they are being mated to. Whomever these girls are, they do not sound like people that we would get along with. They were talking about feeling sorry for whoever their true mates were because they would reject them since they know they are going to be getting high titles. I clear my throat to let them know that they were not alone anymore. They look over to us with looks of disgust. “What is your problem,” one girl with bleach blonde hair and too much make up asks. “Nothing, you just seemed to be having a conversation and I was just informing you that there were now other people here in case you wanted to keep it private,” I shrug. “But since you asked, why would you willingly reject your mates for chosen mates?” I ask. They scoff at me, “we were promised men that are alphas and betas. The highest ranks wolves have,” one says in a very annoying, high pitched voice. “Yeah, we are going to be Luna’s and a beta female, we will have servants waiting on us and will not have to worry about anything,” another pipes in. What is with all of the makeup, do wolves really like that, I think to myself. With that they all flip their hair over their shoulders and “strut” out. Cara, Ember, and I look at each other and laugh. We find a sitting area that has some comfy looking plush chairs next to a roaring fireplace. We each take a seat and talk about what just happened. “I don’t think I like those girls; we will need to keep an eye on them if they end up mated to anyone that Prince MJ and King Maximus want to be allied with,” Ember states first. I nod in agreement.

We cease talking about them because frankly, we don’t care about them or their pettiness. I hear my brother come through our link asking where I am. I tell him the library with the girls. He says he found his mate and that he will introduce us later. “MJ just linked me saying he found his mate, lucky jerk,” I tell them. “Yeah,” both Cara and Ember respond. We are all 20 and have been looking for our mates. The dream that I had last night comes to mind. I decide that I am going to tell them about my dream. “So, I had a weird dream last night about a black wolf,” I say. They both look at me with wide eyes. “I did too, only my wolf was dark brown,” Cara exclaims. I look over to Ember and she sighs and says, “I also had a dream about a wolf, mine was black with white paws.” “I wonder what this all means? I mean, why did all of us have dreams about wolves, I felt so drawn to this wolf. I was about to touch it when my alarm went off,” I say exasperated.

I hear people enter the library so we lower our voices to continue talking. Suddenly I am hit with scent that is amazing, fresh rain and mint, it must be my mate. By the looks on the other girls’ faces, they are sensing something as well. We all look over and there are three men standing and staring at us. It wasn’t in a creepy way. They looked as if they had just found a treasure. The one in the middle with short black hair and the most amazing blue eyes is staring at me as if he is about to scoop me up and run away. ‘I would be OK with that. He is very handsome. I can’t wait to get my talons on him,’ Sapphire chimes in. I mentally roll my eyes at her. Horny dragon. ‘And you aren’t, tell me you don’t want to jump him right now,’ she snorts. ‘OK, I concede, he is hot and I believe our mate,’ I say to her. ‘Well duh, that amazing smell his coming from him. Touch him, if we feel sparks then he is our mate and I can’t wait to mark him.’ she says giddily.

I am walking towards him. I look up into his eyes, he is tall he has to be around MJ’s height of 6’5”. I feel the pull to him, it’s almost as if I am in a trance, nothing else exists. We are within reach and he is reaching for me, when the annoying voice of the bleach blonde tramp breaks our trance and wraps her arms around his outstretched arm. I see red. Sapphire lets out a deathly growl, ‘I will rip her hair out as I pull her to the window, fly up as high as I can and drop her.’ I stare daggers at her. “Get your slutty hands off of my mate,” I growl out to her. She looks at me and her eyes widen for a moment but goes back to a fake smile and tries to says, “as if he is your mate. I am his chosen mate.” My eyes snap to his blue eyes looking for confirmation. I feel pain in my heart. He is one of the men she and her friends were talking about. He looks at me with a scared expression and then rips his arm from her and grabs her shoulders and in a deep growl says, “I told you to never touch you again, that you were out of your mind and that hell would freeze over before I made you my mate. Now get out of here before I throw you out of the window, or, I might just let my mate take care of you. She looks like she wants to kill you. Why am I slightly turned on by that? I reply. ‘He’s our mate, he protected us and showed that slutty b**ch that he belongs to us, not her, and he included us when telling her to back the f**k off. It was hot’ she explains.

He turns to me and quickly starts to say, “I am so sorry. What she said is not true. The council has been on me to…” I cut him off by covering his mouth with my hand and sparks ignite where our skin touches. “It’s OK. You don’t have to apologize or try to get me to believe you. He smiles and pulls me into his arms. He bends down and I feel him nuzzle into my neck, and I do the same.

Blade comes in and interrupts us. I look around and notice that Cara and Ember are in the arms of the other two men. I will have to find out who is who later. Blade leaves and I look up to my mate and he is looking at me and says that MJ told him where we were and that he is mated to his sister. I couldn’t help but laugh. Cara and Ember were laughing to. He looked so confused. I explain to him that MJ is my brother and that I thought it was a little funny that we were mated and his sister and my brother were mated. He laughed as well and said that he didn’t find it strange since we were both strong families and that the Moon Goddess was putting us together to combine the wolves and dragons. ‘Mate is smart and thinks quickly. He didn’t even bat an eye before coming up with answer after being clearly confused as to why we were laughing,’ Sapphire states. I agree with her.

The guys ask us to come with them to the meeting as they have all been approached by the council to take chosen mates because they had yet to find their mates. Like hell will this council force my mate to choose another. I will burn them all to a crisp before that happens. I think to myself. I glance over at Cara and Ember and can tell they are thinking the same thing. We start to leave when my mate introduces himself to me as Jace Black, alpha of the Black Diamond pack. I look up to him and smile. He smiles back at me and my heart skips a beat.
