Caelum POV: January 26, 1353
Red flames lit the dungeon from one the small window in the cell. It is damp and cold, but the heat from the outside permeates through the walls.
"Time Wizard, the kingdom needs your help, please. Think of your sister.." Sister? The same sister he humiliated and killed for his mistress? This man was insane if he thought for one second I would help him.
"Your majesty!" I interrupt, "My sister is dead, along with my whole family, by your hand, I might add." He winced at my reminder of his past transgressions.
If I could have saved my family, I wouldn't be in this position. The only reason I was spared was because I was the country's only time wizard and the master of the wizard tower. Even with all this power, I could do nothing but watch as my family was stripped of their title and put to death. And now this man wants me to fix his mistakes.
"How was I supposed to know she was innocent!" he argued. "She definitely didn't make it easy to prove her innocence. If she had just behaved in a way befitting of a queen, none of this would have happened!" Of course, he put all the blame on my sister instead of realizing that his actions are what led to the Otelia Kingdom's doom.
"My sister shouldn't have to prove her innocence, she was your queen and you chose to believe some woman you brought in from the outside" I could feel rage taking over as my whole body tensed. If I wasn't chained up, I would have already dealt with this arrogant bastard.
Anger contorted his face before he retorted.
"I ORDER YOU WIZARD. REVERSE THE TIME AND GIVE THIS KINGDOM A FIGHTING CHANCE!" The king wasn't even trying to guilt me into helping him anymore. He calmed down as he tried to reason with me.
"Now isn't the time to be stuck in the past, Caelum. If you give me this chance, I will give your sister the treatment she desires." His desperation was apparent, and I was going to take full advantage of it.
"Your majesty, as you know, as the Time Wizard, I am only able to revert time with the royal sacred relic, Gothia's tear, and nobody has seen it in 200 years. If I could turn back time, I would've two years ago when you murdered my family." I sneer.
I will not let him forget that it was him who betrayed me first.
"I have found it." he replies, almost solemn. "I am ready to accept any stipulations you may have. Just give me a second chance to prevent this disaster," he pleads. At least, he is able to think of his country in its final moments. Had he not been so captivated by an innocent looking face and got his head out of his ass, this could have been prevented. But he chose to screw my family over, and I will not give him the chance to make ammends!
A giant smile creeps across my face as I realize what this means. I can revert time, but a second chance he will not get. I will not give him another chance to hurt my sister, my family.
"Well, that changes everything, Your Majesty." I tease. "Of course I should help you. However, I've been imprisoned for some time, and most of my magic has been depleted. I could turn back time, but whether you remember this deal or not depends on your luck."
Of course, my family will not forget the injustice they had been served. We will remember everything.
"I am willing to take the chance," his majesty says confidently. He still thinks he is the main character in this life, and I can't wait till his world comes shattering down. "Guards, unchain him," he orders.
I am released from my shackles and feel my magic surge back into my body. Perfect. It is just enough to do what I must.
He hands me a sack, and I can feel something begin to vibrate inside. I reach inside and pull out a necklace with a single gem on it. My fingertips tingle with incredible magic. Gothia's tear is just as beautiful as the rumors.
"Because of the nature of this spell, I will need to draw out the magic circle," I say, as the king hands me my magic quill. It had been ages since I had seen it. My father had gifted it to me after my 8th birthday, after my magic first surged. I was the youngest wizard to emerge ever. After my tenth birthday, I no longer needed to draw out magic circles, and so I kept my quill in a chest in my room. It irked me to think the king had been through my things, rummaging through whatever he pleased. My family's treasure, probably sitting in the royal treasury. I tried not to let my anger show, but he picked up on it.
"I couldn't just let everything go to waste," he says nonchalantly. Whatever, I think. I just need to get through this, and I will get my revenge against this insufferable man.
I take my time drawing out the circle, not wanting any mistakes to be made. I ensure that there are two clauses in my spell. One, that all that share my blood shall remember this timeline from the moment they wake up and two, his majesty shall remember only after my sister is officially divorced from him. That should be enough to exact our revenge.
"I only have enough magic to take us back five years," I say as I complete the circle.
"That's perfect," he replies. "That is where it all went wrong."
To me, it was all wrong from the start. It was wrong when he treated my sister like some parasite like he understood nothing. She went through hellish training to be the queen only to be treated like an outsider by her own peers.
Everything this man says to me does nothing but drive my anger further. I think of the perfect way to vent my frustration.
"Your majesty, there is one more thing I need to activate this magic," I say as he gives me an inquiring look.
"Royal blood."
I sent a wave of magic that slices his neck before any of the guards have time to react. He falls to the floor, spurting out curse at me, I'm sure. One guard rushed to his side while another charged at me.
At that moment, I used the rest of my magic to activate the magic circle.
A bright light engulfs us until all there is is a white nothingness.
I gasp awake and look at the calendar. January 26, 1348.
