Chapter 3 - Recovering

1139 Words
Sheila’s POV. “This can happen more often considering the traumatic experience she has had that led to her memory loss. It varies with patients, some take longer to recover their memories, some, a shorter time, and others never get back their memories. So it's a good thing she's begging to remember things very fast All she needs now is more love, care, and understanding and soon she'll be fully recovered.” I heard the doctor telling my Dad in a low tone and it gave me some sense of relief. “But how is it that seeing the Alphas who had come to visit her, triggered a memory?” My Dad asked. I understood my Dad's confusion, I wondered the same thing. How could a total stranger trigger a memory from my past? “Isn't the Alpha your friend?” The doctor asked. “He is.” My Dad gave a quick response. It was the Alpha in the middle. My Dad called him Alpha Tyler. What bothers me the most is that the memory doesn't in any way match all I have been told so far about myself. I got lost in my thoughts for a moment and didn't hear the rest of Dad's conversation with the Doctor. I only saw the doctor shake hands with my Dad and leave. That was when I noticed Leo who had been sitting by my side holding my hands. “Sheila, are you okay?” He asked, looking straight into my eyes. I saw how worried he was about my well-being and I knew he needed assurance that I was fine or at least I would be. “I'm fine Leo” I replied smiling at him. “I'll leave you be,” Dad said. “Take care of Sheila,” he added, looking at Leo. “I will Alpha Donald, you can trust she is in good hands, you have nothing to worry about”. Dad left, but not before giving me a kiss and one last look. “So,” Leo said, looking at me. “What did you remember? Tell me all about it.” “Ehm the one in the middle, I mean the Alpha in the middle, there is something about him, he looked familiar in some way. I just don't know how he connects with what I remembered. And what I remembered didn't seem like a memory. It was more like a vision, I just couldn't place it.” I replied. “Why do you say that? What did you see?” He asked. “You said I was involved in a car crash right?” I asked. “Yes,” Leo quickly retorted. “Okay but rather than a memory from the car crash or something, I saw someone push me off a rooftop. I didn't see the person's face but it felt very real, like a memory of something that had happened to me.” I said, not sure what to make of it. “It's nothing to worry about, the doctor said it's a gradual process. So we don't have to rush anything okay? You'll be fine.” Leo assured me and kissed me on my forehead. I spent the whole day with Leo, the day after it, and the day after it, listening to him tell me different stories of experiences we've had together in the past. And I could tell we were good together. Though I couldn't remember any of it, listening to him warmed my heart. We sure had a thing together. I feel much better now. And I was happy to leave the room for the first time since I got back. I will be going with Leo to the field for training. His Dad helps in training young warriors in our pack and Leo being his son, usually helps him out as second in command to his father since he'll soon be taking over the beta position from him. By the time I was done dressing up, Leo was already waiting for me downstairs. It was a big day for me and he was ready to stand by me every step of the way. “You look… ravishingly beautiful as always,” he said with a smile that made me blush. “Thank you. But, do you think I'm ready for this?” I said, doubting myself. “Of course you are. You are one of the best warriors we have around here and everyone knows that. I am sure with a little training, it will all come back to you. You have always been a natural” He replied so assuringly. And I just smiled back. Once we got to the training ground, the training was already on with Beta Luke Brandon supervising the young warriors while the seemingly old warriors trained by themselves. At the sight of me and Leo, everyone stopped what they were doing and Beta Luke Brandon gave me a rather warm welcome. Some of the warriors were screaming excitedly, some were whistling while others were clapping. They entertained me with a choreographed fight between two members of the pack. And some even brought me gifts. It warmed my heart to know that I was loved by so many and I could tell that they weren't faking it. I had the time of my life. And I couldn't wait to start training properly. Leo promised to help me out with my training personally. After a while, I felt a bit exhausted so Leo took me home. “Oh, you are back. How did it go?” My Dad asked. “It went very well, Dad. I had the time of my life, Leo made sure of that.” I replied to him. “That’s good. I got an invite from Alpha Tyler Brooks for his birthday dinner just this afternoon and I would like you to come with me,” Dad said looking at me expectantly. “You don't have to come if you don't yet feel up to it…” He added. “Alpha Tyler? Yes, I'll come along” I replied with a quick smile. Alpha Tyler was the one who triggered my first memory and that memory has continued to play in my head since then. Funny enough I haven't had any more memories since then. ‘There’s something about that Alpha and I have to find out. This is an opportunity, I have to attend the dinner’ I thought to myself, perhaps seeing him again will help me get back more of my memories. “Perfect,” Dad said, feeling satisfied that I'd be coming along with him. As this will be my first official functio n since the accident, I could tell that Dad was really happy to see me getting back on my feet.
