THE ALPHA

CHAPTER 6 So there I stood, hand in hand with Hreafn, nervous beyond belief. Will he have the answers I’m looking for? Will he allow me into his pack? … stay close to Hreafn… my mind raced. “Evaluna dear, it’s been so long since the last time I saw you,” he said sweetly before walking forward and embracing me in a tight hug. “The last time?” I asked, confused. “You wouldn’t remember you were only about a year old. Regardless, welcome home!” he answered with his hands on my shoulders. ‘Home. So this is where my mom was taking us.’ I thought full of sorrow. “Now I’m sure you have plenty of questions, but how about some food first” he suggested. “With all due respect, Alpha, I think I have waited long enough for the answers I’m looking for… I really don’t want to wait any longer.” I said sternly. “Fair enough. What is it you would like to know, my dear?” He replied “I guess the first thing I want to know is, why were people after me?” I asked He took a deep breath, and his face became serious before explaining. “Evaluna, you are a very rare breed of werewolf. You are what we call a silver fang. Now that your mother has left us, you are the last female in the whole northern hemisphere, maybe even the whole world. Many packs see you as the perfect prize for breeding, especially now that you are almost at the age of mating.” “Okay, but even though I may be a rare breed, what’s so special about silver wolves?” I asked, still confused “All silver fang wolves harbor special gifts, with pure bloods being exceptionally powerful,” he paused when a knock came from the door. “You may enter,” he said, Dax entered the room before he continued talking. “You are a pure blood, Evaluna. Your mother was a pure silver fang wolf, as is your father.” “My father… My mom said he died before i was born…" Are you telling me he is still alive!?” I asked in shock. He walked towards the messy desk and searched around for a minute before pulling out a small sapphire blue envelope. “Perhaps this will explain better than I can. Your mother said I was to only give this to you if she did not come back with you,” he said, handing me the letter. I ripped it open and found a hand-written letter dated June 7th, 2005, just over four months before I was born. It was my moms handwriting. To my dearest Evaluna, I could feel the water being to fill my eyes. It’s like I could hear her voice coming from the letter. Oh my little pup, I can’t imagine how scared and confused you must be feeling right now. If you are reading this letter, then it means my premanitions came true, and I am no longer with you. I’m so sorry, my love, that I couldn’t stay with you longer. Just know that everything me and your father did was to keep you safe. After you are born, I am taking you out of our pack lands and going on the run, never staying in one place for long. Your father can’t come with us. Though we are bonded forever, he is the Alpha of the Silver Moon pack, so he has a lot of other responsibilities he needs to tend to. There is a war between packs going on right now, and he needs to be here to lead his pack. Don’t be mad at him for not being there as you are growing up. It was my decision. The pack I have sent you to is my former adopted pack. They took me in when I had no place to go, so I trust they will take you in as well. I trust them with my most precious daughter. They will take very good care of you. Please forgive me for not being able to see you grow into the beautiful, strong women you will become. I will never leave you. I will always be there with every breeze of the wind and every phase of the moon. Please, my love, try to understand. I know you will be angry at the people who took me from you, but it is important for you to control your anger. The silver wolf can be both a blessing and a curse. If you can not control your anger, the animal will take over, and if you let it, you will lose your humanity. Your father still struggles with that. Even though you are still in my womb, I already know you will take after him more than you know. I hope that one day you will get to meet him. All my love, mom. The tears fell and soaked the page. “It’s all his fault… it’s his fault… he wasn’t there to protect us!” I said, feeling my blood get hot. “Evaluna… you need to stay calm” the Alpha said, trying to calm me. I didn’t listen though, I was beyond angry not only at my mom for lying to me about being a werewolf, my father and my whole upbringing, but more at my father for choosing his pack over his family. “If he was there, she could have survived,” my wolf growled. She was right. “IT’S HIS FAULT SHES DEAD!!!” I yelled before the whole room went red. ** Hreafns (POV) The room filled with a familiar heat. 'It's happening again she's shifting. ' Her arms grew longer as silver fur sprouted from her skin. Her fingernails turned black and sharpened as they began to grow and curl. Her legs stretched, giving her a few extra inches in height while displaying silver tufts pure metalic silk. Her human ears replaced with furry wolf ears, her large silver cloud tail fell to the floor as she stood there, eyes glowing purple, bearing her white long canines seething in anger. She shifted further than the last time but still not fully shifted. She was more wolf than humans at this point. My fathers voice echoed through the room, shaking the walls as he used his Alpha voice "SIT DOWN!!!" He commanded Within seconds myself and Dax fell to our knees, unable to break his command. I lifted my head, expecting to see Luna on her knees as well-only another alpha can disobey the Alphas voice - but to my utter amazement, she was still standing. My fathers chest extended, and his eyes narrowed. He was mad. no one had ever disobeyed him. "EVALUNA, I SAID SIT!" he bellowed. "NO!" She groweled while lunging at my father. He swerved narrowly, missing her claws as his did. Dax was the first to shift, displaying his mocha coloured fur and yellow eyes he was the biggest wolf besides father and myself. With her back to him, he leaped into the air with Luna in his sight. In a flash, she wipped her arm around and made contact with his ribs following a large crack as he was lifted into the air and flew across the room, hitting the wall. "EVALUNA, ENOUGH!" My dad yelled as loud as he could, sending temmors throughout the house. "I SAID NO!!!!!!!!" her voice echoed, I felt the tremors again, they where stronger this time, cracks formed in the floors, and the windows shattered, sending multicolored fragments scattering to the ground. I turned to my father, and my eyes widened as I saw him claws gripping the floor, bracing himself on his knees. "Hreafn, you need to find a way to calm her down. She can't let the wolf take over, or she will be lost forever!" My father mind linked me before fully shifting, displaying his large black wolf with bright orange eyes. She lunged at his full of fury. He jumped in the air and used his back paws, and pushed her to the floor. Within a blink of an eye, she was in the air claws swiping at him. He yelped. They made contact with his snout. "She's out of control," my wolf said "Hreafn we have to deal with this together, I won't hurt her, but you have to shift...NOW! He continued. The blood in my veins warmed as my wolf leaped through as our bodies and souls became one. Luna and my father were still fighting as Dax woke up and joined the fight. The fact that she was easily holding her own against a beta and an alpha without being fully shifted was insane. "So that's the power of a silver fang," I mumbled. My father and Dax were on opposite sides of her closing in. My father leaped forward fist, pinning her to the ground with his teeth imbedded into her arm that was protecting her face. She growled before using her legs to throw him into the air over her and slamming his body into Dax. They both fell to the glass covered floor, as she got to her feet and took a deep breath, opened her mouth, and howled. The air ripped with an incredible force, and we all went flying backward. The walls cracked as books fell from the shelves, and papers flew throughout the room. "If you have a plan, nows probably the time to use it," I told my wolf as the waves of air continued to ripple through the house. We stepped forward towards her. Each step felt like fighting against hurricane winds. Each step, my wolf and I got closer, and the air got stronger and hotter. slicing my wolfs body as the gusting wind tornadoed around us. Until we were right behind her. I let my wolf take control as he pushed her hand gently with his snout. She wipped around and clawed his nose. we winced as she pushed us to the ground, pinning us on our back. "HREAFN!!!!" My father yelled through mind link as he got to his paws trying to run towards us. "NO! ... WE GOT THIS!" I yelled back "B-BUT?" " TRUST US.... PLEASE" My father lowered his head, complying to my command. She was on top of her claws digging into our skin, her face staring down - I thought I would have seen anger - when I looked at her, all I saw was immense sorrow. My wolf whimpered quietly, which caused her to relax slightly. He glowing eyes darkened into that deep violet color before tears fell from her eyes and wet the tip of our bloody snout. My wolf took his tongue and gently licked her cheek. Her claws retracted, and her body became smaller as well as lighter while she shifted back into her human form. She lifted herself off and sat in front of us, eyes closed tears falling to the ground. Her arms extended up before wrapping them around and pulling our head towards hers. With our foreheads touching and her hands scratching behind our fluffy ears, she whispered "I'm.... I'm sorry. " Before her arms fell to the side and her body dropped to the floor in exhaustion. we all shifted back into our human forms when Dax said "Holy s**t .....that ... that was something" "That was the power of a silver fang," my father stated, "and she wasn't even fully shifted," he continued. "How the hell was she able to resist the power of the Alpha command?" Dax asked. "There is a lot you both need to know. Dax, take her to the spare bedroom to rest and meet us in the lounge," he said while looking at her sleeping face. Dax shot me a quick look before walking closer to her. I stood in his way and gave him a warning stare before turning to my father "he will do no such thing! only I am to touch her, " I commanded. my fathers eyes narrowed with anger at my boldness to defy his wishes. before nodding. I lifted her small body with such ease, still shocked that someone who looked so delicate could harbour such power, before leaving the drawing room to take her to the guest bedroom at the otherside of the house.
