Chapter 2:

1074 Words
The walk to school sure is boring. It still hasn't changed. Malcum thinks to himself as he is walking on the pavement leading down the road to school. The road is empty and there are some birds in the trees lining the road. The houses all look normal in their painted brick walls and tiled roofs. A cyclist passes him, heading in the opposite direction. A large bang suddenly goes off and smoke starts filling the air down the street around a corner. And karma's a bit... He starts jogging towards where the sound came from. His red jacket and black pants prevented him from running. He reaches the corner and sees the cause of the explosion. Oh, another bully. Two men and one woman around their thirties, wearing black leathery jeans and blue denim jackets over white tank tops with blue sneakers. They are in the process of kicking a girl around her teens on the ground. She is covered in scratches and bruises. Her long, blue hair covering her face and her navy-blue shirt and pants covering her body up until her shoulders and knees. Her feet only have light green socks on. There is a crater behind her, large enough to fit a tennis ball in, in a wooden fence that is smoking like an uncleansed grill. Well... I'll help, I guess? His hand brightens as pulses of streaking red light starts to run along the veins, now visible in his hands. They curl and twist and at the tips of his fingers, gather and form as extensions of his fingers. His legs suddenly filled with electricity and energy move at unimaginable speeds as he is propelled towards the three bullies. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth and fear for fear... ------------------------------------------------------------------------- From the fat bully's point of view: "Come on, get up and fight!" The long lean bastard yelled. "Yeah, ya little worm. Ge' up!" The hag slurred; she should limit her alcohol on Sundays. The girl who provoked us is lying on the ground being kicked as the other two are yelling at her. She probably didn't think about what she was saying when she talked back, she needs to learn from her mistakes. Maybe this would teach her a thing or two. Man, I never thought she would be a conductor type powerholder. She fricking took my fireball in mid-air and redirected it into the wall. She didn't expect it to explode though and that was her fatal mistake. "Yer should've run when yer could!" I mimic the hag's voice and accent. She shot me a look, but soon ignored it. A sudden whirring sound made me look and my eyes widened at the sight of a boy, clearly a lightning or energy powerholder, was dashing at us at unimaginable speeds. Sh... The impact on my chest was the first thing I felt before being airborne. The five bolts of energy caused spasms in my chest, one dangerously close to the heart and then the hand hit me. This coupled with the boy's momentum, easily knocked me ten feet away. I landed with a thud, head spinning, and eyes closed. When my eyes opened, I saw the bastard and hag unconscious, curled up on the ground and the boy, now towering over them. He didn't look like a boy, more like a monster. "You are no man, you dem..." I said as I lost consciousness and slowly faded into a deep sleep. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maybe I overdid it. I get too worked up in these situations. The fat one has landed about five feet away. The other two were lying unconscious at his feet. The girl who was now unconscious also lied at his feet. Guess I should take her to a hospital. He picks her up and cradles her even though she is only about fifteen centimetres shorter than him. He starts walking down the street. I'll be late for class at this rate, a short teleport won't hurt anyone. He swings his head around, his eyes darting in all directions. Clear. A small chanting starts, and a portal formed in front of him. He walks through, the world flashing by in an instant. As he exists onto a part of the road next to the hospital he looks around once more before dismissing his portal. He walks into the hospital. The nurse at the desk looks up, her short brown hair almost covering her eyes. "And how can I help you today, Mr Malcum?" I visit way too often, don't I? "I only wanted to bring her, she was getting beat up and I stepped in, but I don't know the full extent of the damage. So, I need you to check her and heal her please." "Sure, but this is not charity we do, so I'll take it off of your credits." "Uh... fine." I was planning to cash it in one day, dang it. I hope you thank me sometime miss! He gives her an agitated look before turning to leave. The nurse was about to speak again before: "Oh, and yes, you may tell her that it was me who helped, but don't disclose more than my name and location please." He gives her a sharp look. She nods and he walks out the door. The nurse starts to check on her before her eyes suddenly open and she jumps out of the bed and takes a defensive stance. "Who are you? Where am I?" "Calm down miss, you were badly injured and now I'm checking to see if you are really ok." The nurse gives her a smile. She lowers her stance and looks around. "How did I get here?" "A frequent customer of ours, Malcum brought you here, he also saved you." "Where did he go? I'll need to thank him for this." She looks at the nurse with a strange intent almost not seeming to believe that he could have saved her. "He's at the Cradle Gift School, but I wouldn't judge someone's power who saved you if I were you. It's rude you know." The nurse makes an angry face at her and places her hands upon her obese waist. "My apologies, they were 2 B-class fighters and a C-class pyromaniac. They should've been hard to beat for a normal highschooler." "Yes, yes enough of that let me heal you then you can go there." "Alright."
