Midnight Calling

Third Person POV      Sandra Owens tossed and turned in the bed. Night after night dreams muddled with past and future events. Heart racing, sweat pouring off her forehead; she startled awake for the third time that week.      Ughhhh, why can’t I sleep peacefully?! Sandra grumbled into the pillow.      Thump.      She turned her head to the side as she felt something jump onto the bed. “Oh, hey there Loki boy, did you miss me?” She asked of her not so graceful cat Loki. Mrreeoww.       Not that an actual answer was expected of course. He was a sweet natured cat for what it’s worth- a bit pudgy and in desperate need of exercise but cute nonetheless. Loki was not a young cat by any means- at almost six years he was getting up there in years. But he kept Sandra company to full the loneliness that crept inside.       He reminded her of those grey and white Siamese cats you see on television ads. A good companion but not one that could help with this problem.       Finally deciding that sleep would elude her once again, Sandra rolled from the bed. Grabbing the nearest item in the closet- a black pantsuit and heels, Sandra was almost ready. A quick brush of her shoulder length hair and she was prepared to face the world.       Time to start the day.      First, coffee was a MUST.
