What happens at the club...

You could feel the thumping of the music from outside where we were standing in line. We were only in line for about 20 minutes before they let us in which wasn’t too bad. Veronica was still glaring at Jesse which made me roll my eyes. “Be nice,” I whispered to her as she grabbed my wrist tugging on it so I would pay attention to the annoyed look on her face.  When we got inside all you could hear was the thumping of the music and feel it in your whole body. It was electric. Ezra brushed up against me to move passed and grabbed my hand pulling me with him to dance. The strobe lights danced across his face and I noticed how handsome he actually was for the first time. There was nothing really extraordinary about him other than his brilliantly green eyes. At that moment I felt captivated by him. Seconds later Jesse pulled him towards her and started dancing on him, I was pulled out of the trance. Thank God… now is not the time for me to be falling for anyone especially not my roommate. I fall too quickly. I need to slow down. It's only been two months and I need to work on myself.  I walked over to the bar and grabbed two shots, one for me and another one… for me. I felt the alcohol slide down my throat burning the whole way. A few more shots later I was dancing again but with a group of strangers dressed like vampires. A few more shots I could barely see my surroundings. I looked over and saw Will and Veronica in what seemed like a tense argument. Saw that one coming… They left shortly after I couldn’t find Jesse or Ezra so I went back to the bar and grabbed a few more shots. I wandered back to the dance floor and was sucked into a memory.  I spun into Adrians arm while we were at The Castle on our 2nd date. We were dancing like no one was watching. He called me about 3 hours after our first date because he ‘wasn’t ready for our conversation to end’. We talked until we passed out. The next day he called me back and asked if I'd go to this nightclub his friend had told him about. He had said he wasn’t a big partier but he wanted to go somewhere new and he wanted to take me dancing. I agreed even though I wasn’t much of a dancer myself.  So there we were doing shots and dancing; It was electric. He was electric. We were. That's when I saw my friend Miranda. She was one of my friends I did drugs with on a regular basis. I hadn’t talked to her since a week before when I went on my first date with Adrian. “Hey Kali where have you been? Benny’s been asking about you! Oh I see,” she said looking at Adrian,” that’s where you’ve been,’she laughed. “I’ve just been busy don’t worry! I’ll see you soon.” She walked away after saying a quick goodbye. I felt like I could breathe again after she left. He looked at me wondering why I was so nervous about running into that girl. I wanted to tell him everything…  We stayed dancing for another hour or so, till we were too tired to continue. As we walked outside the air was cool compared to inside the club where hundreds of bodies were moving rhythmically in close proximity. There was a slight breeze; it didn’t feel like a summer night in Florida. We were holding hands strolling leisurely back to the car gazing up at the sky. “Who was that girl?”  “She’s someone I usually see everyday,” I responded vaguely,” but I’ve been avoiding her.” He gave me a curious look, I didn’t want to tell him everything yet but I knew I couldn’t keep--- I was knocked to the ground by some random dancer. They helped me up and apologized profusely. Before I could tell what was happening Ezra had rushed to my side from across the club he could tell I was incoherently drunk.   “Time to get you home,” Ezra said as he grabbed my arm trying to support me and walk at the same time. “I’m okay,” I slurred.  “No you’re not let's go,” He chuckled,” I already ordered an uber.” Jesse was ready to pass out so she called for an uber as well. She of course made sure Ezra was going to make sure I got home safe. Will and Veronica had gone to her house a couple hours before everyone else left. Who didn’t see that one coming.  Once we got back to our building Ezra picked me up like a baby, carried me to the elevator, into the loft and onto my bed. He laid me down, took my shoes off and pulled the covers over me. He lingered next to me for a moment admiring how calm I was sleeping. He turned to walk away and I grabbed his hand.  “Can you st-- stay for a minute? Just ti--ill I fall asleep,” I hiccuped drunkenly. He nodded softly, keeping a light grip on my hand. We had only known each other for a month but after tonight we clearly saw there was a connection although we both knew it was too soon. I was too early in my journey of self discovery and he wasn’t the commitment type yet  even after just getting out of a 2 year relationship (he’d get there eventually). He sat down at the edge of my bed not really sure what to do next. I pulled his hand and brought him down onto the bed to spoon me. I knew I shouldn’t have but I was so drunk and tired I just wanted to feel close to someone… anyone…  He must have fallen asleep sometime shortly after I did because he was there holding me when I woke up. God I’m so hungover what the hell. How much did I drink last night? What did I do? Why is he spooning me?!?!? Aaah calm down it’s fine. I slid out from under his arm quietly and went into my bathroom. Looking in my mirror I couldn’t help but wonder why I kept making these choices. Drinking too much and letting strange people into my bed was my go to move before I met Austin and while I was with Adrian. Which is a big reason why we broke up. I quietly closed the door to my bathroom and slid into the shower washing away the sweat and booze of the night before. When I was done in the shower I slipped on my fuzzy pink robe and walked into my bedroom again forgetting Ezra was in my bed.  “Good morning sunshine,” he purred from my bed. “Excuse me what are you still doing here??? You’re awake you can go!” “Yeah but where’s the fun in that,” Ezra laughed as I glared daggers in his direction. Will heard all the commotion and knocked on my door before walking in. “You know generally when people knock they wait for an answer before just walking in! What if I was indecent?,” I glared at him.  “Well if he’s in here there’s nothing indecent going on,” he looked pointedly at Ezra as if referring to a conversation I hadn’t been a part of. Reluctantly Ezra rolled out of my bed and sauntered out the door behind will. I guess I had been holding my breath while the guys were in my room because I let out a huge sigh and started breathing normally again. I quickly rushed over to the door and locked it so no one could just walk in at their convenience.
