Chapter 4

Kate: “Romeo, can you find William and Lilly for me, please?”

Romeo: “Sure, Aunt Kate.”

Aunty Kate sent me to look for her own kids in this enormous house. William’s

room is next to the guest room that Dillan went into a few minutes ago - see,

William is napping too. I don’t understand what I am supposed to be doing here.

Now where is Lilly’s room? I stand and look around; I think it is this one…. the

door is pink, so duh! “Oh, hi!” I didn’t knock. s**t! What…. the…. Hell…. is

she wearing? I stand there with my mouth open.

Romeo: “Hmmm, I apologise, I should have knocked.”

Lilly: “Hi, it’s okay” …. s**t, where is my towel? We just stand there

looking at each other.”

Romeo: “Your mum is looking for you.”

Lilly: “Sure, I will be right there.”

Romeo: Stop staring and leave the room, I tell myself. I can’t peel my eyes

away from her.

Lilly: Wow, he’s really checking me out. I fiddle with my fingers. Why

am I so nervous?

Romeo: I clear my throat. “Before I go, can I just say something?”

Lilly: “Sure, what’s up?”

Romeo: “You should change, that bikini is way too revealing.” And with

that I close her bedroom door. Wow, she sure has changed, I

have never seen a body like that on a fourteen-year-old. That

can’t be the same snotnose kid? I shake my head and walk off,

I need to get my s**t together, she’s a kid. This is going to be a

long day.

Lilly’s POV

My gosh, who the hell does he think he is? Did he really just ask me to change? I turn

around and look at myself in the mirror. I am perfect, what’s his problem? I shake

my head and I can’t wait for Tessa and Lee, my best friends, to get here. I roll my

eyes and think about the fun we are about to have. I only invited my two best

friends, Tessa and Lee. They are the only two friends I want here.

My brother always had a crush on Lee; he tries not to show it and I think she has a crush on

him too. So maybe Dillan, William and Romeo will join us. I idly wonder what

Romeo’s problem is but decide not to give him another thought. We will have a

fun time. My friends have arrived. Let’s get this party started. Yah!!

“Hi Ladies, get changed into your bathing suits and let’s head to the pool. I want

you to meet some friends of mine.” Tessa, always the slow one, takes almost an

hour just to get changed into a bathing suit, while Lee and I sit and wait for her

and giggle about our swimsuits. When Tessa is done, we head downstairs, and I

Romeo’s POV

I can’t take my eyes off Lilly; she is in the pool with her friends. Why hasn’t she

changed that damn swimsuit? I need to keep my cool. I’m acting like a horny

teenager, and I consider myself a man now. I have just turned eighteen, so I am

grown. “Great view, isn’t it, Son?” I hear my dad’s voice, and s**t - I have just been

caught staring at and eyeballing Lilly. “Hi Dad, I was just watching the water,” I

try to lie but he raises an eyebrow at me, and I know he doesn’t believe me.

I overhear my mum telling Aunt Kate about Amy and I almost ask who Amy is

and then remember that she is my girlfriend, who I have been dating for almost

two years. I am completely in a daze when Dillan throws a football at me, and

it knocks my drink over. I look at him and he’s laughing so hard, he’s actually

coughing, William is laughing too, and I just smile and now I have to take my

shirt off. I catch Lilly and her friends looking at me and giggling and this makes me blush. s**t, what Is happening to me? I have to pull it together, so I continue

to help my dad with the barbeque and try to act normal.

It’s almost 10:00pm and we are all huddled around the fire. Our parents are

inside in the main house and we are just relaxing and talking outside in the pool

house. Lilly is really funny, and she and Dillan are good friends. They make silly

jokes, and they have a good understanding. Lee, Lilly’s friend, asked William to

take her home, so it’s just the four of us. We decided to make a hubbly, and we

are smoking and hiding from our parents, they hate the hubbly. Suddenly we

hear the sirens… “Is that the police?” Lilly looks at me and we both start heading

inside while the sirens are actually getting louder. As we approach the front gate,

the police are surrounding the property and they are looking for my dad. That’s

weird, how did they know we were here and what do they want from him?

Lilly’s dad comes out and tells the officer in charge that my dad is his guest and

asks them what this is about; the officer then says something no one expected.

“Mr Kale is under arrest for the murder of Jessica Smith.”

Wait, isn’t that the lady who died in the car crash five years ago?
