Hi dad It's been eight years since you left us. And I just turned 13 last week. All the past birthdays made me realize that you weren't really coming back. I stopped looking at the door, waiting for you to come bustling in. Last week my heart didn't even pound whenever a knock came from the door. A part of me was grateful that you didn't show up last week too. Because if you did, I wouldn't know what to say to you. Even after saying so much to you in the letters, I would never know what to say face to face. There are many things, but I know my lips would be sealed.
