Chapter 10: Winchester Wannabe's
[ Trinity ]
Thoughts plagued Trinity's mind as she tried piecing together every lie she was ever told. "Dad's just out hunting with his mates, don't worry." Her mum would say as she brushed blonde strands of hair off her cheeks.
For years she thought hunting to him meant deer and rabbits, but now that she think about it, he never brought the animal hides home. "Busy?" Lydia drops her books on the table, her lunch beside it as she welcomes herself to the seat beside me.
Scrambling to move stray papers out of her way, she blushed slightly. "No, sorry."
"You don't have to leave," The strawberry-blonde protests, forcing her back into the seat. "I actually have a favor to ask."
"Please don't say you want that bestiary. I've already told your friends that I can't get that for them."
Lydia pursed her excessively glossed lips. "No need. I already have it, I just need you to help me translate about two thousand pages of Archaic Latin. I've got ahold of your transcripts and noticed that at your old school you were in Latin 6."
"How are you sure I don't just know regular Latin and not Archaic?"
Lydia smiled slyly. "Because I also researched what the curricular was at your previous school. I know that you speak Archaic Latin."
Giving in, Trinity took the tablet from her. "I've been reading Latin since I was a little kid. All of this kind of comes naturally."
"That's kind of perfect."
"When did you need it by?"
"By the end of the week."
"You're kidding right? That's —" Upon seeing green eyes boring into her very soul, Trinity's protests died. "—perfect. I'll have for you then."
Lydia smiled as if she knew the transaction would work from the moment she walked in. The strawberry blonde took a single bite of her chicken salad before getting up to throw it away. "Thanks Trin."
When she was out of sight Trinity sighed loudly, laying her head down on the table. The entire lunch period, she read the language that she was taught since she could speak, translating it with the tablet Lydia gave her. Chapters were being decoded and with each word Trinity did the work as if it wasn't a chore. She was learning about things she hadn't read about in the bestiary at her house.
Werewolf- A Lycan with the ability to change its form, usually on full moons but can change at will with the correct training. Comes in three forms, each equally as dangerous. Alpha, the leader of the pack. He/she gives the order and is the strongest out of the pack, usually the hardest to take down. Beta, werewolves who have an alpha and a pack. They're strong, not as strong as their leader but they also do damage if they're young or untrained. Omega, the lowest rank in the werewolf community. These wolves tend to stray away from a pack, they're by themselves and are unpredictable. They're very dangerous because they don't have any guidance.
Banshee- The wailing woman is a death omen, when they unleash their powerful screams they can predict deaths caused by the supernatural.
Hunter- A group of people that hunt and kill the supernatural. Very dangerous to any supernatural creature.
Kanima- A weapon of Vengeance. Bit by an alpha, a kanima is formed to reflect a persons unfinished business. Usually driven by emotional hatred, a kanima seeks a master to control his biding which is usually killing of the masters choice. The kanima was once used by a South African priest to rid his village of all people the priest deemed unworthy. A kanima begins as a beta, staying the average size of a human and covered in dark green scales, is equipped with a tail and claws that injects a paralytic toxin that renders the body useless to anyone who touches it. Through time, the kanima will inject the venom into its human self and begin the start of the second stage. In this stage, he will grow wings, increase in body size, gain a spiked club to the bottom of his tail and will be at its strongest. The kanima doesn't know who it is because it's controlled by someone, so when it's back in its human form, said human doesn't know that he is the kanima.
Darach- Darach is Gaelic for "Dark Oak" and denotes a perversion of the Druid "Wise Oak" beliefs. In order for the Darach to continue with its magical teachings, it must preform a ritual sacrifice of human bodies called the five fold knot. In this sacrifice, three of each of the following are needed to be killed with a garrote. Virgins, Philosophers, Guardians, Healers, and Warriors.
Oni- Demon warriors that come out only to protect those of which exposed to a dark kitsune. Oni are neither good or evil, they're simply given a task and they pursuit such tasks and kills anyone who opposes them. One are made of a black smoke or shadow and takes a human shape. An Oni's golden eyes, similar to afirefly are the only thing seen on their shadow faces that are protected by a silvermask. Oni are skilled in martial arts combat and fight with ninjato swords. Mountain ash can keep an oni out, but not for long. With enough pressure, they can break anything.
Kitsune- Coming in multiple different forms, a kitsune can control the element that they're born into, such as thunder, celestial, void, ocean, and wild.
Trinity rested her fingers for a quick moment, skimming over the words that she didn't care much about. Deciding that they wouldn't miss the legend of the kitsunes she skipped pages, stopping at one that caught her eye. A woman in all white clothing, brilliant wings spanning out behind her.
Angels- A messenger of God. Rare species that are unbelievably beautiful, with an aura that almost glows.
Trinity turned the page expecting more, only to find a ripped page. "No. No, no, no."
A shadow towered over her much smaller frame. "Something wrong?"
