Chapter 1
"I hope you understand what you have to do next." I nod. "Great." Mr. Damien smiles. Rising up from the chair, he said, "You will receive your first half of the payment in the evening and my secretary will text you about his whereabouts. I am counting on you." With that, he left. I am lost in my thoughts, when Amy, my secretary, places a file in front of me. "Drake Anderson's file." I nodded and took the file from the table. I am going through the files when something catches my eye. "Went for psychiatric consultation. Does Mr. Damien knows about it?" "I don't think so," Amy replies. She stops whatever she was doing on her computer and comes up to me. "Look at this." She places a picture in front of me. The picture is of a man wearing an over-sized black hoodie and his face is totally hidden by a mask and sunglasses entering a hospital. "What's with this all incognito look? Is he trying to hide something?" "Maybe he wants to hide the fact that he is having psychological problems." Amy makes an assumption but it doesn't patch up with the other information. A casanova at his best. Doesn't care about others around him. Then why would he suddenly want to hide his mental health? Could it be... "Did he get someone pregnant?" I quickly rummaged through his file to see if there was any pregnancy, case or not, but to my dismay there wasn't. "Why are you ignoring the fact he can have psychological problems? Huh?" Amy gets furious. "It is clearly stated that he is seeing a psychiatrist but you still choose to ignore it. Why?" She demands an answer, but to be honest, I don't have any. I am ignoring a fact just based on my instincts. Even though I wasn't like this before, I always used to fact check everything before speaking, but with time I changed. "Do you want to check?" My sudden offer caught her off guard. It's been long since I have stopped fact checking. So, it took her some time to really. "Do you really want to check for yourself?" She asks, being a bit cautious. "Yes." I nod. "But we don't know about his whereabouts." I smile and check the time on my phone. "Don't worry. Mr. Anderson's secretary will send me his location in an hour. Get ready, we will leave in an hour." Just as I was told, Mr. Anderson's secretary sent me Drake's location in an hour, but I am literary pissed right now. "Five different locations! Now, how am I supposed to know where he is?" "Are they playing with us?" Amy looks at the GPS for the tenth time and curses under her breath. "I have been driving for an hour and still there's no trace of the said club. Does that club even exist?" "I hope so." I sigh. I should have been able to sense the red flag when they said that I had to find him. "Gosh, why did I even take this case?" I cried out in frustration. "Stop crying. That's the club." "Where?" I jumped up in excitement. "Their." Amy pointed at a retro-style, old-fashioned club at a distance. "Are you sure this is the club?" For some reason the club didn't seem convincing to me. Why would a spoilt rich brat come to such a run-down club in the suburbs, leaving all the clubs full of glitz and glamour in the city? I am sure there's more than meets the eye. "Lets go inside." Amy led the way while I just nodded and followed her from behind. "Wow! it's more than what I expected." Even though it doesn't look appealing from outside, the club is classier than I thought. "I am not seeing Drake Anderson here." Amy says, scanning the whole club. "What if there's a V.I.P arena?" I tried to find something that I could call a V.I.P arena but there isn't anything like that in our range. "Let me ask the bartender." Amy approaches the bartender. "Do you have any V.I.P arena or something like that?" "No, we don't have any V.I.P arena?" The bartender replies. We both came out of the club totally disappointed. "Now what?" Amy asks. I pulled out my phone from my purse and checked the five locations that Mr. Anderson's secretary texted. "One down, four more to go." "What?" Amy quickly snatched the phone from me and started checking the location on Google maps. After checking all the locations, she immediately blasts off. "Is this some kind of joke? Are we even getting paid enough for this?" "Why? What happened?" "All these clubs are at different ends of the city. If this club is here, then our next destination is at the opposite end of the city." She says, pointing in the opposite direction. "More than two hours' drive from here." "Wow." I scoff. "Oh! gosh what are we supposed to do now?" Amy asks. I just shrugged my shoulders in reply. I am completely clueless. I can't even tell where he is right now. What if he comes here after we leave? "Should we just give up?" I asked. "What? Why?" Amy asks in confusion. "I..." "Please don't give up." A voice says from behind. We turned around and found Mr. Anderson's secretary and another man were standing behind us. "You? What are you doing here?" I asked. He lets out a sigh and replies. "I knew that you would want to give up. So, I came prepared." He pauses and points at the man standing beside him. "He will be on standby over here while you check the other clubs. If young master comes here he will inform you and, if you don't find young master at your next location, then just call me. I will send another guard over there. But please don't give up. Our company is in a state of emergency right now. If young master doesn't take over the company, we will all end up on the road." "But..." I wanted to back away but something in me made me stop. What if they actually need him? "Okay." I agreed. "I will find him." I thought I was doing some favour to them but standing here in front of this club, I realised I made the biggest mistake of my life. This is the club on our list. I had already left Amy at the previous club as I didn't want to torment Mr. Secretary again because I am pretty sure that we are not going to find him today. I was planning my next move when I received a call from Amy. "Did you find him?" I asked, without bothering about the initial credentials. She lets out a frustrated sigh and replies, "No." "Okay, then let's visit him." "What?" Amy was confused. "What do you mean by 'visit him'? Do you even know where he is?" "No, I don't." I replied."But it's time for him to return home." I said, looking at my watch. "Let's go or else we will be late for our appointment." "But..." Amy was about to say something but I ended the call. We don't have time to contemplate. We have to act fast or else we will lose our chance.
