Amber “Skylar, are you ready to go?” I ask my mate. He is sitting with our surprise fourth pup in his arms. “Almost,” He responds. The other three pups are in their carriers, ready to go home. It has been over a month since their birth, and they are just now being released from the hospital. It was touch and go for all of them for a week or so, especially for little Rey. He only got off the ventilator last week but is doing well despite being the smallest. Skylar has become quite protective of Rey. He doesn’t like anyone else besides him holding the pup, not even me. My brother-in-law Gabriel referred to Rey as the runt of the litter, and Skylar nearly killed him.
