I could feel something warm on my chest. I heard beeping from a machine next to me and the faint sound of someone whispering in my ear as they ran their fingers through my hair. I opened my eyes and saw Claire wrapped in a pink blanket, sleeping on my chest.
“Mason,” I tried to sit up without waking Claire.
“Crystal,” he wrapped his arms around my shoulder pulling my head to his chest.
“Gemma!” I shouted as I wrapped my arms around Claire like she was going to disappear.
“She’s gone love, she’s gone,” he slid his arms around my waist.
“How did she get in here?”
“The police are trying to figure that out now. They think she had help from one of the staff members here”
“I want to go home”
“I know, but you lost a lot of blood. They want to keep you overnight for monitoring. W
