What have I done wrong I did not force my father to give me his property he did it on his wish my God will judge you all, Amaka said as she c4ied and whaled but her stepmom and daughter mocked and laughed at her Amaka then stood up and started washing clothes. Many weeks later they were eating when they heard the town crier saying "The Prince is coming back and he needs a wife so any maiden who is interested in marrying the Prince should come "immediately Amaka's step mom heard it she told her daughter to go and get ready for the competition Amaka said she also wanted to go but they laughed at her and told her the Prince won't even look a glance at her and told her to go and fetch water instead, while she was going an idea struck her mind so she decided to drop the keg and go to the igwe's palace for the competition. Amaka! She was late, as usual. The competition had already started. She rushed in, her eyes darting around the room. Her stepsister, Ada, was already on stage, her face a mask of practiced calm. But Amaka saw the envy flash in her eyes when the judges didn't pick her. Amaka's heart leaped with joy. Now it was her turn. As she took the stage, she couldn't help but think of her mother. She would tell her everything. Later that evening, chinelo went home and told her mother everything. Her mother listened patiently and promised to deal with the situation when Amaka returned. Not long after Amaka came back her stepmother asked her why she did not go to the stream and since Amaka could not explain she beat her up and warned her never to go close to the place because she wants her daughter to win in the next competition . That night they managed to feed Amaka because one of the village elders came and so as to impress him they gave Amaka food . When the elder had left they told Amaka to thanks her God because she would have died of hunger if not for the elder Amaka was sobbing that night because of the way her stepmothertreated her but soon she stoped crying and started praying. The next day when Amaka was done with all her house chores and sure her stepmom and daughter is still sleeping she sneaked out to see her friend praise ,praise advice to her was to endure and keep on praying and God will do something good for her . Amaka was very grateful to praise and tells her good bye because she had to take her leave before her stepmotherand the daughter wakes up, okay my friend beg going so they will not beat you like always . When Amaka got home she was shocked to see the gate openedshe knew that th at means that her stepmother was awake she was trembling until she heated a jubilation she went inside and was surprised to see her father's best friend he then broke the news the Prince is back they were so happy and jubilating the elder then he took le ave and then Amaka 's stepmother told her not to be happy because she is not going to the palace Amaka was very sad and disappointed on the day of the big celebration of the return of the Prince all the villagers were there even Amaka cam e after her stepmother told her not too she ate 🍔and drank🍷🍾enough she even packed plenty home and locked it in her room because she knew that after going to the palace her stepmom was definitely not going to give her When she got home her stepmother beat her for going to the palace. On afor day the town crier came to inform all the villagers that the competition for the Prince heart will soon begin. Everyone in the village all wanted to go and of course Amaka and her stepsister wanted to go too . But the rules of the igwe was that he chose the seven girls who came to the other competition that day which was Becky,Linda,Precious,Esther,peace,beauty,Amaka. Those were the seven girls who won the competition the other day. When it was time for them to get ready to go to the palace ,chinelo wanted to go by all means to the extent she spend much money in braiding her hair . But unlucky for her she did not get into the place and though she and her mom took over Amaka's money for that period of time she was not still accepted. This chinelo very mad and upset to the extent her mom stoped Amaka from going to the palace. But luckily for Amaka her uncle came just right in time and helped her to run away,unlickily for Amaka she got to the palace late but luckily for her a good body guard helped her on she promised herself that even if she did not marry the Prince she will enjoy life in the palace. The palace was very big and everyone got thier separate room although it was togethers in one room.
