Love & Agony

This was it, She turned Eighteen tomorrow. She got to meet her wolf and had a chance at getting to know who her mate was. Forest stood there, looking in the mirror at her long jet black hair falling slightly into her piercing ice blue gaze. "You can do this.." she spoke softly to herself. Tomorrow was a huge day. She had to get some sleep. Without another thought of it all, Forest turned and walked out of her bathroom that was connected to her bedroom. Crawling into bed, Forest had no luck sleeping. Only tossing and turning the remainder of the night out of anticipation for the next day.. As the sun peaked over the trees outside her large window, Forest heard a gentle knock on her door. Sighing softly and sitting up, Forest told whoever it was to come in. As she stood and stretched, her parents poked their heads in. "Good morning, sweetheart," Her mother spoke as she pushed the door open the rest of the way. "Happy birthday." Her father chimed in with a smile. Forest just smiled at them both, "Thanks, guys. Now, if you don't mind.. I need to get dressed." she spoke politely and soft to them, waiting until they stepped from the room to start looking for more suitable clothing for her big day. Her parents always celebrated her birthday with her. It's what she appreciated most about them. After finding what she wanted to wear, Forest went to grab a quick shower. The steaming water rushing against her skin made her emotions calm a bit. After her shower, she got out,blow drying her hair and patting her skin dry before stepping her way into a pair of blue jeans and slipping a grey sweatshirt over her head. It wasn't long before Forest made her way downstairs. Her parents had already started making breakfast. The smell of pancakes , butter, and syrup filling her nose. "Mmmm, Smells amazing mum." she mentioned toward her as Forest walked into the kitchen. The whole pack lived within this small area of the woodland area. The Alphas house being the biggest.. obviously. It wasn't long after the three sat down to eat when Forest heard someone speak to her as they were all eating. She looked up from her plate and at her parents. Their mouths were full of food. How could they have said anything? 'Hello..' The voice sounded again. Forest quickly looked around, only to hear her parents chuckle. "I can see your wolf is already playing tricks on you already." Her father chuckled. "What do you mean?" Forest asked, clearing her throat and acting as if nothing was happening. "Honey, your wolf can talk to you." Her mother spoke. Forest looked over at her mother and just nodded. "Oh.." 'Damn, they caught me. Mom and Dad seem to be really on top of things.' The wolf spoke. 'Heh.. Yeah, why didn't you just tell me who you were?' Forest asked the wolf. 'And ruin the fun? I think not!' Forests wolf joked 'Okay.. Well, what's your name then?' The young woman asked. 'Akira,' She answered. 'It's nice to finally meet you, Forest.' 'You too' After breakfast, Forest didn't hear much from her wolf until it was time for her first shift. It was tradition for the entire pack to be there for it. But.. she had to be completely naked. Forest didn't mind much, but she was still pretty worried about it. After they headed toward the center of their territory, her father gently put his hand on her shoulder to get her attention. "I just.. want you to know that I am proud of you.." He stated with a smile. "Thanks, dad.." she stated, hugging him afterward before they continued to walk toward the center of the territory. After they got there, Forest stepped up onto the platform in the center of the territory as the rest of the pack walked up. Everyone but her was now in her wolf form. She looked around and slowly stripped. Forest noticed everyone was being respectful and only concentrating on her face. Which, she felt at ease about. After she set her clothing aside, Forest heard her wolves voice in her head. 'You ready?' 'Yeah.. how exactly does this work?' 'Let go.. Let me take over.' 'Ok' Forest focused on letting go. She closed her eyes and loosened her muscles up. It wasn't long before it felt as if her bones were breaking. Letting out a shrill scream as she dropped to her knees, Forest tensed back up before really focusing on letting go. Eventually, she was on all fours, and she felt all eyes on her. Soon, she heard murmurs. 'Whats going on?' Forest asked Akira. 'We're pure white.. Look around You, do you see any other pure white wolves?' 'No..' 'There's your answer.' Forest soon heard her father's voice in he lr head. 'You're beautiful.. Just like your mother.' Forest turned to her father, giving a wolfy smile as her tail swayed behind her. Eventually, her parents walked forward and nudged heads with her before they all commenced in a howl. Afterward, the pack cleared out, and that left the Alpha, Luna, and heir in the middle. The three were still in their wolf form, laying in the middle of the platform. This was also a tradition, letting the parent wolves get to know their child. But, it was silent. After the family was done, Forest sensed something. Her parents had fallen asleep, and she felt the urge to go for a run. With that, she followed that urge. Forest ran and ran hard. She felt as if she needed to do this. But, soon enough, she realized that she wasn't on her territory. Her ears flattened to her head once more as she spun in a circle. Forest wasn't sure where she was, but, she felt and attraction to her. 'Our mates nearby..' Akira told her. 'What do you mean?' Forest asked. Eventually, her blue gaze met a dark green one. A shadow type figure hovered above her. His scent making her mind whirl. She felt attracted to this male, a lot more than she should be. Forest took a few steps back . Who was this guy? 'You know exactly who I am..'The male growled inside of her head. 'No.. I don't.' Forest growled back, standing up for herself. It was then the scent became familiar to her. But, the male quickly disappeared as she heard her parents' voice in the distance. 'No! Whyd you let him just run off?' Akira asked. 'He's part of the Doubos pack..' Forest told her. Forest soon ran towards her parents' voices, noticing them looking around frantically for her. She barked once at them before taking off towards home, hoping they'd get the gist that they'd talk there. After they all got home and dressed, they all met up in the living room. Forest refused eye contact with her parents as she tried to figure out how to tell them who her mate was.. She paced for a few moments before looking up at them as they talked. "Are you ready to tell us why you ran off?" Her father grumbled, his arms folded across his chest. "My mate.. is part of the doubos pack.." She spoke, looking down at the ground. She could feel her father's rage building as she looked at her mother. The worried expression on her face said it all. "Goddamnit.." Her father mumbled. "Of course, it had to be my daughter!" He looked up, flailing his arms up and then down harshly against his side once l, as if silently cursing the moon goddess before he turned back toward Forest. "We will settle this tomorrow, we will go to them, and you will reject whoever he is!" He yelled, forests mother trying to stop him, but he just told her to sit down and shut up. Forests brows furrowed as her wolf growled. "Shouldn't that be my decision!" She yelled back. "Not when he's park of that treacherous pack!" He yelled and stormed from the room. Forest didn't know how to feel.. She didn't even know her mates name, and she's already being told to reject him.. all because he was a doubos? She looked to her mother, who looked defeated. "You're just going to let him do that?" She asked. Her mother frowned, sitting forward on the couch she was slouched onto, "Honey.. you have to understand -" Forest cut her off, "Understand what? That I can't love because my mate is part of one of the worst packs out there?! I don't even know his name, let alone what he's like!" She cried before shaking her head. "Im gonna go to bed.. Got a 'big day' tomorrow.." she sniffled as she walked away, not letting her mother get another word in before she disappeared up the stairs. Forest got into pajamas and crawled into bed, getting barely any sleep that night. What a way to end a birthday.. The next morning, Forest was awaken to her father shaking her. "Let's go," he spoke abruptly. Forest grumbled, looking groggily at her father as he turned and walked out of the room. She soon sat up and got ready for the day. 'Don't do it!' Akira growled out. 'I don't have a choice..' Forest sighed. 'Yes, you do! Go find him! The urge is there!' 'We'll know him when we see him..' Forest told her, then shoved her to the back of her head for now. As she got downstairs, Forest froze as her eyes met his. Her gaze then transferred to her father, who was now face to face with her mates father. Both Lunas trying to keep them back from one another. It was.. silent. Which was odd for how much they supposedly hated one another. Akira flipped about inside her head, growling and scratching to get forward. She kept fighting her back as she stepped toward her father and the Alpha of the duobos pack. "Dad, please don't do this.." she spoke, feeling the intensity of her mates gaze grow with every step she took toward the two. "Do not take another step." Her father growled. "What are you gonna do?" She asked, blinking a few times as she stepped between the two, feeling both her mates and his fathers gaze on him now. Her father glared at her as his growls grew larger. "You wanted this, remember?" She asked, glaring back at him. "Wanted what? For you to be betrothed to Him?!" He yelled, pointing over at Forests mate. "That's the last thing I wanted.." Forest just rolled her eyes, "Why? What makes them so terrible?" "You haven't told her?" The other Alpha spoke in a chuckle, "We used to be Allies, until your father took what was most valuable to me.. My first luna." he growled. Forest took a few steps back from her father before looking over at her mates father. "What do you mean?" She asked, watching as her mate quickly made his way over. Her father growled, "Don't you touch her!" He snapped. Forest ignored her father she eyedthe Doubos Alpha, "Your luna?" she asked. "Your mother was supposed to be mine.. But she didn't want me.." He growled aloud. "Your father took him from me.. I knew it was only a matter of time before my son and you were betrothed once you were born.." He chuckled. Forest soon looked over at her parents, "Why didn't you tell me the truth?" She asked them. Forest's mother frowned and shook her head, "No.." "And you want me to reject my mate all because you guys did what you did?" She asked. Forests mate growled, "You told her to do what?!" He snarled, stepping toward Forest. The young woman looked over at her mate before his father grabbed him, "Not now Luke! Let this play out.." "I will not reject my mate.. And there is nothing either of you can do about it.." Forest stated.
