The sole sound in the courtroom was the gavel strike down of the judge. Though the sound sealed Jonathan Blackwell's destiny, Adrian would never forget the words he spoke as he was being transported.
Jonathan twisted his head, and his cynical smile cut across the air like a knife. "You never escape the Blackwell legacy."
Adrian closed his fists at his sides. Even under chains, Jonathan managed to poison his psyche.
