Chapter 2

Anna POV            I tried, I really tired, I knew he was following me the second I left the house. He just couldn't keep his nose out of my business. I waited to see if his conscience would take over and he would turn around and go back but he never did. The more he kept following me the more pissed off I got until I had finally reached my boiling point. I took the opportunity when he got distracted to jump into the tress and jump until I was right over him. When he stopped to look for me I dropped down and pinned him to the ground glaring at him.   "I told you not to follow me. What the hell do you think you are doing?" I growled.   "I'm sorry Anna, I just wanted to make sure you were safe, I know you are going back to your old pack house. I can tell just from the trail you are walking. Nothing good is going to come from this except more hurt, why are you doing this to yourself?"    "You don't know what I am going through or what I am doing to myself!" I yelled. "go home Jake it's not a statement or a request. Go home and do not come back, you want o be my friend then listen to what I am saying."    I leaned closer to his face "Do not follow me anymore. I do not want your help not with this. If I want your help I will let you know but as of right now what I want is for you to go home and leave me alone. I will go to your stupid dance and spend my birthday at Blue River but you will leave this place. NOW!"   I got off of him and he struggled to his feet. He looked at me like he wanted to say something but he didn't. He turned and walked away, I know I hurt his feelings with what I said but I wanted to do this alone and he just did not understand. I started on my way again but turned around after a minute because it felt like there was someone watching me.   "Jake if that is you there will be no pinning to the ground I am going to kick your ass. This is not a joke to me!" I yelled out but I didn't get an answer.      I really wasn't joking this time but I also felt uneasy like maybe it really wasn't him and someone else. I turned back towards my destination and walked faster hoping to get away from whoever was lurking in the shadows.   Unknown POV   She was beautiful, the way her red hair burned in the sunlight and her eyes shined green. Her curves are out of this world, I can't wait to meet her.    Mine my wolf ground out. In due time she will be ours, but for now we will wait and watch. She hasn't shifted yet so she does not know we are here but she senses something and I will not ruin the surprise with your impatience. My wolf growled low and retreated back to let me finish our recon. I watched as she stood with unease and turned and walked back towards Crescent Moon. How could someone who had been through so much want to go back to the cause of all the pain? Does she even know the whole story? Probably not but she will one day until then I just sit back and bide my time. Anna POV   It took me two hours to get here with all the distractions and I really can't even believe that I am back here. Jake's question still rings in my head about coming up here but I shake it off, this is something that I have to do. I walked up to the gate and climbed over it. When I jumped down and looked everything looked different. Building had been rebuilt and the place looked cleaned up.    "How could this be when everyone died. The destruction of this place, it's. it's not possible." I cried out.    I ran as fast as I could through the place. Not everything was fixed some places were still destroyed. I heard sounds in the back of what was the old pack house. As soon as I rounded the corner I was met with at least six giant wolves, all of them ranging in size and color. When they seen me they lowered their heads and bared their teeth at me beginning to growl, but then one wolf from the back came up to me. It looked at me, sniffed me and laid on the ground.   Before I could realize what was happening the wolf shifted into a male form. The male form lifted his head and I was met with familiar ocean blue eyes.    "Orlando!!" I yelled out and jumped into his arms, he grabbed me back and hugged me tighter than I have ever been hugged before.    "Annaliese! I can't believe it is you. We thought you had been taken or even worse we feared you dead along with you parents.   I winced at the mention of my parents but I know he didn't mean anything by it. I couldn't fault him for what he thought. As he put me down I saw that everyone else had shifted back to their human forms as well looking at me with tears in their eyes. All of them some I recognized and some I did not know that well were staring at me.  "I thought the whole pack was gone. I was so lost without everyone I thought no one would have survived that attack, I didn't even look to see if there were any survivors. I abandoned you guys I am so sorry. Can you guys ever forgive me?"  "Of course we do Annaliese. We honestly did not thi`nk that we were going to make it either it is a miracle we did. When we couldn't find you we thought the worse and didn't look for you. There was no scent of you or anything. I'm sorry we gave up without even trying."   Looking through the tears I realized that he was still naked after shifting.I blushed and cleared my throat and picked up a pair of shorts that I assumed were his and handed them to him. He was the son of my father's beta and although we were somewhat close we had never been around each other like this before.   "Do you guys remember anything from that day. I am sorry to ask but I want to avenge this pack and avenge my parents, I need to know everything that happened that day!"   "We can tell you what we remember if you tell us what happened to you these last few months."   "I will do my best as long as you will and then we will get revenge."   "Well we all best go in and have some food I think it is going to be a long night." one of the other wolves.   "It is good to have you back Alpha!" exclaimed Roman as we walked back towards the pack house.   I froze in my spot thinking he couldn't be talking to me. No there's no way I can't be alpha he must be talking to Orlando.   "He is talking to you Anna." Orlando smoothly said as he walked past me and saw the look on my face.   "How can I be Alpha, I haven't shifted yet?"   "Your birthday is in a couple days you will shift then, but that is not going to change anything. You were the alpha's only child so therefore until you marry you are our Alpha and we are more than happy to have you as our leader."   "I would be happy to lead you all. It means a lot to me. Thank you so much." I cried walking into the house Orlando POV   I couldn't be happier that we found her or should I say the she found us. I really thought that we were the only surviving members of the pack and that we would be considered rogues if we didn't find another pack to join. No one could replace her father and mother as my Alpha and Luna, but I am more than grateful to have her as my Alpha and that nothing deadly happened to her. The rest of the survivors and I entered the back house but Anna stopped short. She hasn't seen any of the revisions we have made since that day and I am sure being back here is quite a shock when the day she left it was a bloody m******e.  "I know this is a shock to you, but we tried our best to make it look different than what it was and how you last saw it." Armando spoke out. He was my best friend and I am happy that he made it out of that day to. It has been a struggle for all of us ever since.  "Thank you. It means a lot to me. I just want to know hat happened, how it happened, and why it happened."   "Well I guess we should get to it." I spoke, "that day was like any other day, I was patrolling the grounds like usual and nothing seemed out of place or like anything was wrong. I reached the southern gate and found a hole that shouldn't have been there. I called for backup while I tried to get the scent from whoever it was and see if that had entered our territory. Before I could finish getting the call out I was attacked from behind by a black wolf. He managed to throw me against the fence knocking it down and then against a tree knocking me out. I am sorry I couldn't have done more to protect this pack. I let everyone down."   "Nonsense, it is not your fault there should have been more patrols and not just you going along the fence line. Where was everyone else?" Anna said.    "I do not know about everyone else but I was walking out of the forest when I was surround by four different wolves." Leslie stated. She was one of the fiercest female wolves we had, but even I know she couldn't take on four wolves at a time.    "They tried to tear me apart," She continued " I managed to seriously injure a couple of them but the other two jumped on top of me. and got the best of me. I don't know how I survived but I am thankful that I did. I never would have wished to see the pack the way it was but I am still grateful to be alive."   Everyone's story was about the same they had all been ambushed by the wolves. None of which any of us recognized. We all turned to Anna so she could explain what happened to her that day. Anna POV    Hearing everyone's story made my stomach turn. This was the worst possible situation for us. How could one of the strongest packs alive be taken down by a handful of wolves. They had to have been planning this for years. All of their stories were more tragic than the other and I feel horrible that I was not there through any of it. They all stared at me waiting for me to share what happened to me.   "I am so sorry that I was not there to help you at all," I stated. "I am even more sorry that I wasn't here after to pick up the pieces. That day everything just seems like such a blur and I wish I could remember more but I will tell you everything I know and what I remember."   I took a deep breath before I began.   "So I remember being in my room, I was asleep but I was tossing and turning. I thought I was dreaming because I could hear screams and and commotion outside of the room, but I couldn't wake up. I was trying so hard but I couldn't pull myself out of where I was. It started to calm down and I could feel myself starting to wake up, when I did it was completely silent, I couldn't hear anyone. What's more is I did not smell anyone but I smelled blood and a lot of it."   Images of that day flashed in my mind as I kept recalling what happened that day. Tears started forming in my eyes and they tried to comfort me but I just shook my head, I didn't want it. It wasn't going to comfort me just make it worse.  "I walked out of my room and saw the hallway full of blood and bodies. I started to panic and raced to my parents room, but they weren't in there. I didn't know what was happening, but I made my way downstairs carefully avoiding all the wounded members, I reached the bottom step and I heard my mom begging him to stop. I peeked around the corner and a giant black wolf had my dad by the neck. His wolf had so many injuries i don't know how he had survived all of it. My mother started crying and pleading with him but the wolf he didn't care he snapped my dad's neck and tossed to him to the side. I was a coward I just hid behind a wall watching instead of helping my mom. I caused her death because I wasn't strong enough to help her. I didn't watch him with my mom but I heard it. She had stopped crying and spoke to the wolf."  I looked up at everyone surrounding me with tears in their eyes.   "She said you will never have her, she is not yours and never will be. She will find you and kill you no matter what you do. He threw her against the wall and snapped her neck just like my dads. I heard my mom take her last breath. I don't know what came over me but I was full of rage. I stepped around from behind the wall and stared at the wolf. It looked up and saw me standing there and growled at me. He started walking towards me like he was going to kill me but he didn't there was a loud howl that came from outside of the house and he took off running. I was in shock and angry I ran to my parents bodies and hugged them I didn't know what else to do. I don;t know how long I stayed there but when I got up it was like I was in a daze, I was covered in their blood and I just walked until I reached the house we had bought before we moved here. I ran into my best friend Jake and that is where I have been this whole time. You guys must think I am weak for leaving and not staying to help you all, I am so sorry it was like I was on autopilot and I just wanted to get away."    "I am so sorry that you had to go through and witness all of that. No one can fault you for leaving. We thought you were dead or had been kidnapped we couldn't find you anywhere. We didn't intend of giving up trying to find you we just had to heal first and that took months to do." Jeremiah stated.  "Anna is there anything you remember about that wolf that killed your parents. Did he have and scars or can you remember his scent. Anything that can help us track whoever did this down." Orlando asked.   " I don't know let me think. He had scars he specifically had a large one that went across his eye like he had been in a huge fight. He smelled like mint and earth, kind of like maple trees. That's all that I can remember."   "That should be of some use maybe we can track them down with what you know. You should get some rest. I understand if you don't want to go upstairs, but we fixed the rooms and everything or there are one of the houses out there that you can use."   "Thank you, I will. I will have to leave in the morning I promised Jake that I would come to Blue River for my birthday and first shift. They are also having their Blue River Ball. I do not want to leave you all here alone I know that you guys have managed well without me, but if you want me to be the Alpha you guys truly deserve I want you all to come with me."    "That sounds like a plan." they all agreed. "that wolf still knows you're alive if we all go together we can keep you safe."  "Great we will leave first thing in the morning."
