An Alpha's Revenge

Chapter 3

Jake POV

  I was shocked to say the least when Anna called me and said that she had some exciting news, I could hear voices in the background but I thought she was watching TV or something.However I was fairly surprised when she said she had found surviving members of her pack, and that they would all be here in the morning for her birthday and the ball. When we hung up I went to seek out my father to let him know to no surprise I found him in his office.

  "Hey dad."

  "Hey son, what's going on?" He asked

   My father was the Alpha of the Blue River Pack. We were once the second strongest pack with Anna's being the first, but now that her pack had been destroyed we were now the strongest pack.

  "I uh wanted to talk to you about some stuff. I had invited Anna down here for her birthday and her first shift so that she wouldn't be alone on that day you know."

  "Right I remember you mentioning it. Is she still coming she is more than welcome to be here she is like a daughter to me?"

  "Yeah she is still coming, but there is something else dad."

  He stopped what he was doing and looked at me. "What is it?"

  "She went to her old pack and found some surviving members, She is going to bring them here with her. She doesn't want to leave them behind, they named her their Alpha and after her shift they are going to make it official."

  My dad looked shocked and in his eyes there was a flicker of emotion, but before I could figure out what it was, it disappeared just as it showed.

  "She is going to be an Alpha. Better yet she found members of her pack. Is she ready for that kind of responsibility?"

  "I don't know but she is happy that she found them. She is also set on trying to find the people who killed her family."

  "Oh really I wouldn't expect anything less, but how is she going to find the people who took her family from her."

 "I don't know dad but it's something that she is not going to give up easily on. They will be here at some point tomorrow I just wanted to give you a heads up dad."

 "Thanks son. I will make sure everything is ready for their arrival. It shoudl be an eventful couple of days if I do say so."

 When I left his office it didn't seem like he was expecting for her to come back with guests. Better yet being and Alpha. I mean no one would expect for her to find surviving members of a slaughtered pack , but the way my dad was acting was weird. Everything that was happening was weird. I don't know what's happening but I need to get to the bottom of it.

Unknown POV

 "To what do I owe this pleasure Alpha."

  The voice began to speak on the other end. They are being irate and irrational.

 "You need to calm down Alpha. I do see that we have ran into some unexpected problems but it will all be taken care of soon and we won't have to worry about it anymore."

  The voice spoke again much calmer than they were earlier.

 "One more thing Alpha, if you call me and speak to me in such a manner again I will kill you."

Well it seems as though someone has been busy and things are starting to unravel. If I do not get a handle on this soon everything I had planned will be for naught. I can not let this happen. If it is the last thing I do Crescent Moon will be no more.

Anna POV

  It has been such a whirlwind since finding these members of my pack. I could barely sleep I had so many thoughts running through my head. Tomorrow is my birthday and we are making the trip to Blue River today. I am about to become Alpha to my pack and I couldn't be more excited about the journey and learning and growing with the people who care about me.  As we start the journey to Blue River I couldn't help but imagine everything that they went through when I wasn't here to help them.

 "Hey Annaliese!" Orlando called out stopping my thoughts.

  "Yeah what's up?"

 "Do you think that whoever did this would be at Blue River this weekend?"

  "I am hoping so. If they left me alive they had to have done so for a reason right? If they know I am alive I would think that they would be watching me, which I didn't mention earlier because of everything that we all have been through, but on my way back to the old house I could sense someone around, but I couldn't find them or catch their scent. I don't know how they masked it but someone has been following me."

  "That makes me a little apprehensive about going to Blue River, but I know you made a promise so we will keep a look out especially if it is you that they want."

 "Thanks Orlando."

  We reached Blue River later that evening and was met by Jake, his dad Alpha Thorne, and his mom Luna Rose.

  "Thank you for allowing us to be here Alpha Thorne and Luna." everyone stated as they slightly bowed to them.

  "It is no problem at all. We are so happy that Annaliese was able to find you all still alive. The day told us about the tragedy we were completely devastated." Jake's mother stated.

  She was always so nice to me throughout the whole ordeal. I really considered her to be like my second mom. Jake's dad was kind to me as well but recently since everything happened it was like he walked on eggshells around me and I don't like it.

  "Please let me show you to your rooms!" Rose said excitedly, then turning her attention to me. "Anna I hope you don't mind, but I wanted to do a small get together with just the main members of our pack and your pack at midnight for your birthday. It's your first shift and I am sure you don't want to go through it alone."

  "Thank you Rose! I would love that."

   I watched as everyone was shown to their room and when I reached mine and breathed a sigh of relief to have finally stopped moving. I dropped on the bed and was just about asleep when there was pounding on my door. Not thinking straight I jumped of the bed thinking it was happening again. I rushed to the door and wrenched it open. I was met with a wide-eyed Jake.

   "Why the hell are you pounding on the door? You can't do that s**t I thought something was happening."

  "I am so sorry Anna, I really didn't take into consideration that doing that would freak you out."

  "Clearly! What do you want Jake? What is so important that you had to pound on the door?"

  "I wanted to talk to you. There is something going on."

   "That's very vague."

  "Let me finish. I was talking to my dad the night before you guys arrived and I told him that you had found some surviving members of your pack and his whole mood changed. He was shocked and tense and when I asked him if everything was alright he shrugged it off and couldn't get me out of his office fast enough."

  "What exactly are you trying to say to me right now and I were you I would make it crystal clear what you are trying to imply."

  "I am saying that my dad may know something about what happened to your pack. We just have to find the evidence or convince him to tell us what happened that day."

 "He may know something! That's not what that sounds like." I felt a fire growing inside of me and a tugging in the back of my mind growing ferociously. " f*****g hell you wanna know what that sounds like to me Jake! It sounds like your father had a hand in the decimation of my family and my pack!" I yelled.

  The tugging in my head grew worse and the fire in my belly burned brighter. I was hot and started to sweat, but it was soon gone and replaced by my spine snapping.

  "Holy s**t Anna you're shifting. We need to get you outside right now!"

 He reached for me but I didn't want him to touch me.

  "Don't you dare touch me!" I screamed out as all of my bones broke and elongated. I watched as my nails turn into claws.

  "If we do not get you outside you will shift right here in this room and tear apart the  house. You don;t want me to touch you but I am going to anyway. I am trying to help you!"

  Jake picked me up and carried me down the stairs outside. Apparently all of our yelling woke up the house because when I looked behind us Orlando, Leslie and everyone else along with his parents were right there behind us. The tugging in my mind became a devastating headache. I clutched my head and doubled over in pain.

  "Don't fight it Annaliese, it's your wolf trying to come forward to see and complete the shift. The more you fight it the more it will hurt. Just let it happen." Orlando shouted out.

  I closed my eyes and tried to relax as much as one can when their bones are breaking and putting themselves back together. However the minute I did relax I felt a coolness come over me and when I opened my eyes I was looking through the eyes of my wolf.

  "Hi Annaliese, that took a bit of a struggle but I am happy to finally meet you. I am Athena your wolf."

  "Oh my God, I am so happy to meet you to. I have been wanting to meet you so badly, but why did we shift now instead of after midnight on our birthday?"

   "What your friend Jake was telling me you made it possible for me to come earlier. I could feel you slipping into a rage and in order for us to get the information we need, I need you to remain calm. I needed you to shift so I could take control."

  "What do you look like?"

  "I look like the moon when it shines bright in the sky and the stars that fall to the Earth. We are destined for great things Anna."

  Before I could ask her anything else Jake's voice called out to me.

  "Anna your wolf she's bigger than any she wolf I have ever met and she is so beautiful."

  Athena turned towards Jake and everyone else. She looked at everyone in the group when her eyes locked on Alpha Thorne. When he stared back it was like he was in a trance he didn't blink or move but he looked tense like he didn't expect us to be this big.

   "What is his problem?" I asked Athena, "He has always been nice to me. Can he really be the cause of what happened to our pack."

  "I don't know but I do sense something about him that I do not like. Anna we must be very careful."

   "But why I don't get it what is so special that my parents and pack had to die but I lived."

  "There is something you don't know about us Anna and I want to tell you but everyone is starting to shift for this run and it is to much to get into with all of these people around."

  I focused on everyone around us and they had all shifted into their wolves. Alpha Thorne and Luna Rose howled towards the moon as did everyone else and took off into the forest. Athena not being one to be left behind I learned took off as well. She caught up and then pulled out in the front as she dodged branches and trees. Freshly fallen leaves crunched under our paws as we made our way through the forest. As I was beginning to relax I got a sens that something wasn't right and we were being followed by someone not in the group.

  "Athena!"

  "It's okay I got his scent it smells like mint and Earth and maple. He's around here somewhere I just have to find him."

  Athena veered off to the left of where everyone was going and raced faster through the woods trying to catch whoever this person was. She raced faster and faster through the forest I couldn't keep up with what was going on. I was beginning to panic because I was not sure if I wanted to face the person who killed my parents yet.

  "Athena where are we going?" I yelled out

 "Don't panic we are almost there. You can feel it the scent is getting stronger. It's just up ahead in this clearing."

  She stopped when she reached a small clearing with a waterfall. I was happy we stopped so we could catch our breath but was not happy with what we were faced with there.
