Betrayed

Chapter 5 It was like I was slammed in the gut. I was not expecting this from her. "Mother. I love Nella! You can't do this to us?," Derrick objected. His tone was laced with anger. "Enough! You cannot be with her. I forbid it!" Tears streamed down my face and Derrick stood, fuming with anger. "Mother, Nella is the one I want to be with." Luna Adelia looked at me. "Nella you're welcome to stay in this pack, but Derrick cannot be with you. He has someone else, right Derrick?" Air rushed out of my lungs. My knees became weak. "Derrick, is it the truth?" He looked away in remorse." Yes, but I can explain," he protested. I couldn't bear it anymore. I turned and left the room. I felt used by him, which made me cry hard. After the incident, I avoided Derrick. For my own good, I decided not to have anything to do with him anymore. It has been a month since I left the Moonshadow pack. My stay in Crescent Park gave me the opportunity to have a decent life. That morning, I was bored, so I went in search of Dixcy. After knocking on her door, I went in. Dixcy's eyes twinkled when she saw me. "Nella, so good to see you." I sat down on her bed with her. "Yea. It's been a while." I saw shopping bags on her bed. Which made me curious. "You went shopping?" She laughed lightly and responded, "Luna Adelia gave me money for shopping. Isn't she the kindest person ever?" I blinked in surprise. Luna Adelia rarely gives us money. She prefers buying the items we need. Why will Luna Adelia give Dixcy money? It was strange. She noticed that I wasn't saying anything. And her smile faded. "Nella, you look worried. Are you angry that she gave you nothing?" I spun my head to look at her. "How did you know that Luna Adelia gave me nothing?" "The look on your face. Come Nella, it's nothing. Aren't you happy for me?" I forced a smile. I wasn't jealous that Luna Adelia chose to give Dixcy money. It was odd. I could tell that something was not right. But I pushed the thought away. "I am happy for you. Show me what you bought." Dixcy smiled again, and she took the bags and started bringing out all that she had bought. Designer gowns, shoes and expensive jewelry. "This must have cost a fortune," I said. "Yes." She said as she gave me a gown. "I'd like you to have this." It was a beautiful gown with a slit by the side. "Thanks." After spending some time with her, I got up to leave when I felt dizzy. It made me fall on bed. "Nella, are you alright?," her voice was laced with concern. I sat up, rubbing my temples. I felt tired . I managed to get up. "I am fine. I need to leave now." "Are you sure? You look pale. You should take care of yourself," she said. "I will. I will see you some other time," then I walked to the door and pushed it open. And left. I was headed to my room, when I heard voices coming from the room. I walked close to the room and pressed my ear against the door. "I have told you, Tatiana. I do not love you," it was Derrick's voice. "We are betrothed, Derrick. You can't leave me for Nella!" My heartbeat accelerated as I listened to their conversation. "Listen. My mind is made up, I will take Nella as my mate. I love her!" I gasped. Derrick was not lying when he said he loves me. I had judged him wrongly without listening to him. "Leave Tatiana. I do not want you here." Hurriedly, I left for my room. Not wanting them to see me. In my room my thoughts were about what Derrick said. I love him too. But Luna Adelia is not in support. I did not know when I drifted off to sleep. The next day, I woke up feeling a wave of nausea. I sprang up from my bed and ran to my bathroom and started throwing up. My head was spinning as I rinsed my mouth. I looked at my reflection in the mirror. Not pleased with what I saw. I took a quick shower and decided to stop by the Pack hospital to see the doctor. When I got to the hospital, the doctor suggested I run a few tests to know what was wrong. A few hours later the doctor came in. Her lips curved into a charming smile as she sat down. And I waited anxiously for her. " congratulations Nella. You're expecting a baby." I blinked repeatedly. My jaw dropped open. "I don't understand." Maybe she didn't hear the doctor correctly. "Yes, Nella. You're a few weeks gone. You're pregnant. Congratulations," she replied, still smiling at me. She handed the test result to me and I opened it. So I am expecting a baby. The doctor continued. "You and the baby are in perfect condition. You just need to rest and don't engage in any strenuous activity." Tears slipped down my face. The doctor gazed at me with concern creased on her face. "Is there a problem?" "I am fine." I smiled at her and quickly wiped my tears away. It felt surreal. Now I have a baby growing in me. "Thank you doctor," I said. Then I left. This news is too good to keep it to myself. I need to inform Derrick about this. I was convinced that he would be happy. He will be a father soon. I got to the packhouse. Feeling excited, but somehow I was worried about what Luna Adelia would say. This evening, I will have to inform Derrick about it. That moment, I wished Sara was with me. I remembered her words that night. That the necklace with me has answers to my identity. As I was about to open my door, I felt a sharp blow on my head. Which made me slump down and I blacked out.
