Chapter 4
I was stunned when Derrick kissed me. He smiled at me. "Why did you do that?," I asked lightly.
"You'll find out soon. By 8 P. M today, I would like to hang out with you, please, don't say no."
Derrick seemed to me like a nice person. Although I still felt hurt by Alpha Zhorex rejection. I wouldn't want to go through that part again. Something fluttered in my heart. Looking at Derrick, I decided to give it a try. "Fine. I will see you then."
"Derrick, there you are."
I turned to see a very beautiful young lady staring at us. She walked over to Derrick, ignoring me. She held his arms, smiling at him.
"Tatiana. Is there a problem?," Derrick asked. Clearly irritated by how she stood close to him.
She batted her eyelids at him, then flipped her hair." I am inviting you to my place for a party tonight."
Derrick removed her hand from his arms. "Thanks for the invite, but I have some important things to attend to." Then he pecked my cheek before leaving.
Tatiana was disgruntled by the open humiliation. She stomped her feet in anger. She turned to me and scowled. "Derrick is mine. I'll suggest you leave him, or you'll regret the very day you stepped into this pack," she threatened.
I wasn't moved by her threat. "And if I don't?"
"Then be prepared for what is about to come. I am the daughter of a Beta. From the finest bloodline. You are just a stranger. Do not get in my way," she sneered and brushed me by the shoulder as she left.
That night, someone knocked on my door. I quickly opened the door, it was Derrick smiling at me. "Nella, you look good."
Luna Adelia has been a nice host, providing me and Dixcy with everything to make us comfortable. I was dressed in a beautiful blue gown. " Thanks. You look good too."
He was wearing a gray t-shirt and black pants. He tucked a tendril behind my ear. His eyes shone brightly. "Thanks. Are you ready?"
"Yes. Where are we going?"
"You'll find out soon enough." I quickly closed the door and held my hands as we left.
We walked for a while, then we got to a clearing. It was the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. He had everything ready. We sat on the rug. The candles were lit, giving it a good ambiance.
"This is beautiful," I said.
He chuckled. "I know you'd love it." He poured wine and handed a glass to me. I took a sip, enjoying the taste.
He sipped from his glass and kept it down. "Nella, I like you a great deal."
"I like you too", I found myself saying.
We chatted for a while. I was lost in his eyes. The way he looked at me made my heart flutter.
He took his lips on mine and soon, we found ourselves basking in each other's warmth. Our bodies were entwined and we became one.
It was blissful as we laid in each other's arms, staring at the starry sky.
It was almost the break of dawn when we woke up and dressed quickly before leaving for the packhouse.
When we got into the packhouse, he bade me farewell and I slipped into my room. When I turned, I froze in shock.
"Where have you been?," Dixcy asked as she was standing as she stared at me.
"You startled me?" I was surprised to find her in my room. "I went out," I replied.
"With Derrick? I saw you leaving the packhouse last night too."
I was hesitant. Not knowing how to tell her. "Look, I know I should have told you before leaving."
"It's fine. So are you guys dating?," she asked, her eyes beaming with interest.
I sat on the bed and sighed. "Not really. He likes me."
"Just be careful. Luna Adelia was looking for you. And I told her that I haven't seen you all day. I'd suggest you go see her. I need to head back to my room."
I became worried. "Did she say why?"
"No. Well, I am so happy for you," Dixcy hugged me before leaving.
I took a quick shower, dressed and went out to see the Luna Adelia. I was anxious to know why she wanted to see me.
When I got there, I heard voices, but I could not make out what they were saying. I knocked on the door.
"Come in," she said.
I got in and saw Derrick standing before her. He had an angry look on his face. I could feel the tension in the room.
"You sent for me, Luna Adelaia."
The smiling face of Luna was replaced with a scowl. Her eyes were cold as she stared at me. Which made my heart beat fast.
"I was reliably informed that you left the packhouse with Derrick last night. Am I correct?"
It was supposed to be just between Derrick and me. How did she find out?
" Yes," I stuttered.
"I see," she said coldly. Then her eyes narrowed as she looked at my neck.
She got up quickly and drew closer to me. "The necklace you have on looks familiar. I can't place it. But I have seen it somewhere before."
"It's a gift," I lied.
"That's not why I called you. Derrick is my son, and he will be the next Alpha of this pack."
I nodded in confusion. I did not know what she was driving at. "I am aware of that, Luna Adelia."
"And as his mother, I know what's best for him. As the incoming Alpha, he will need a Luna by his side to rule this pack. He needs someone strong, a woman who will complement his bloodline. Do you understand me?"
Luna Adelia has still not said why she sent for me and this made me anxious. "I understand Luna."
"That makes it easy then. I do not want you for my son!"
