Chapter 3
Alpha Zhorex scoffed. "You can't do anything to me."
Then he left me. I fell on my knees and screamed in pain. I was shaking with rage. My wolf was silent. Obviously, Kira is mourning. The rejection ripped my heart to shreds. I was forced into s*****y and rejected by my mate. Which I couldn't bear.
I got up and, in a rage, I flung the tray, and it crashed on the wall, shattering into pieces. Then I stomped out of the kitchen. I met Dixcy on the way.
"Nella," she called over the loud music playing. I dragged her away from the hall. And took her outside. "I found my mate."
"Wow, I am so happy for you," she squealed, but stopped when she saw tears in my eyes. "Are you alright?"
"He rejected me. There is nothing left for me here. I lost my mother, forced into s*****y and rejected by my mate," I whimpered. "I need to leave this place. Are you coming with me?"
"Yes. Anything, I am ready to leave this life of servitude behind," Dixcy responded.
"Good. Let's leave now."
I looked around. There was no guard at the post, so we quickly slipped away and ran. The night provided us with a disguise. We ran for several minutes when, suddenly, we heard the sound of the bell. Used to alert guards about a slave that has escaped.
We were deep in the woods when I stopped running with Dixcy. I was breathing fast. "I think they are after us. I need to turn," I said.
Dixcy's eyes widened in shock. "Turn? B But you're an omega."
I sighed deeply. " That's what everyone thinks. Can you keep my secret safe?"
She nodded her head eagerly. "Yes."
Then I began to shift. My bones snapped and limbs twisted. My body began to take the shape of a wolf. My fingers shot out long claws and my fur was black. I saw the fear in Dixcy's eyes as she drew back.
I mind-link with her. "You can trust me. Now hop on my back and hold me tight. I can smell them."
She came close, and I crouched down, she got on my back. Swiftly like the wind. I raced through the woods. As far as possible. I have covered enough ground. Leaving the Moonshadow Pack and my past behind.
We climbed a tree and settled on a thick branch to be safe and pass the night.
It was dawn, the first light of the day broke out. And the sun gradually took its place in the sky.
We got down and Dixcy hopped on my back. And we continued.I stopped in my tracks when I saw a woman surrounded by rogue wolves.
"Please, don't harm me," the woman pleaded.
The wolves growled at her as she continued to plead. She was outnumbered and had no means of escaping.
Dicxy got down and hid behind a tree. Stealthy,I moved towards them and howled. A powerful wind blew, and the rogues bowed to me before running away in different directions.
The woman had fallen to the ground from the impact of the wind, and stood up. Her heart heaved as she breathed fast. She gazed at my huge wolf figure and said, "Thank you for saving me. I am Luna Adelia from Crescent Park."
I mind -link with her. "I am Nella. My friend is here with me." Dixcy came out from her hiding and stood close to me.
"Good morning. I am Dixcy," she said.
"Nice to meet you two," Luna Adelia said excitedly. Where are you both going?"
"We have nowhere to go. We left our pack for a better life," I responded in a mind link.
"Really, you can stay in my pack. Please, don't turn down my offer."
I hesitated but Dixcy nudged me and I accepted. "Thanks. We will accept your offer."
"Very well then. My pack is just a few hours away. Let's be on our way," she said.
We followed her through the forest. She led us and we got her pack. And the people welcomed us. They were amazed by my huge wolf figure and black fur, which was a rare quality.
Behind the packhouse, I changed back and Dixcy gave me a gown to put on. It was from Luna Adelia.
"Luna Adelia is waiting," she smiled at me.
That evening, a banquet was held in our honour. Prominent members of the pack were invited. I felt at ease. Luna Adelia stood up. "Today marks a glorious day. We have an important person in our midst. Nella saved me from being attacked by rogues today. Let us make a toast," she addressed us. "I officially welcome you both to Crescent Park."
Wine glasses clicked and dinner was served. "Thank you luna Adelia."
She had sat down. "I should be the one thanking you." A young man approached us. I couldn't get my eyes off him. He was handsome, he effortlessly drew attention to himself. The other women in the room eyed him like candy.
"Mother," he said.
"Nella, meet my son Derrick." Luna Adelia gestured towards me. And he flashed a bright smile at me. "Derrick, meet Nella and Dixcy. They saved me."
Without taking his eyes off me, he said, "That was nice. Thank you for your help. If you need anything, don't hesitate to tell me."
The banquet was a great feast and I enjoyed every bit of it. The maids led us to our rooms. My head touching the pillow, I drifted off to sleep.
It's been weeks since my escape from the Moonshadow Pack, I have come to blend with the people in Crescent Park. I was loved and cared for by Luna Adelia.
One morning while walking around the packhouse, I stopped to watch Derrick training with some men. His abs looked solid, and his muscles were hard as a rock.
He stopped when he saw. Damn, he caught me staring at him. I quickly averted my gaze.
"Hi, Nella. How have you been?," he asked. Standing close to me. I felt his breath washing over my face.
"I am f…."
Before I could complete my words, Derrick kissed me."
