Mate

George’s POV

Turning 23, and being an alpha without a mate, is a very difficult situation. Your pack expects more from you and finding Luna for them is the most significant matter. With our mates besides us, it makes us only stronger and even more powerful. But I couldn’t find her till now. We are a strong pack and being associated with Royal Luna pack made us even more invincible. I was very proud to be the alpha of Royal Blue Swan Lake pack. Almost more than three-fourths of the pack members were warriors. But, of late, every now and then, one of them would pop the question of me finding a Luna. I was going nuts myself. My wolf was rather becoming wild.

I was already in my own, personal turmoil, when the rogue attacks started. Slowly, one by one, packs were being attacked. It was only a matter of time, that they would reach us. I wanted to know what was happening and why it was happening. few survivors of the attacks, from various packs, came to us for asylum and we gladly took them as part of our pack. Then, I learnt from one of them, that a rogue king, Marcus Dante, was looking for a certain she-wolf and he wanted only her as his chosen mate. But why these attacks all of a sudden? I got no answers. But what I got to know instead stunned me. All of them, the survivors said that before the attacks, they could not smell any rogues at all. They believed it to be a work of witch.

It alarmed me. My pack’s safety could be in jeopardy, if I didn’t start training my warriors and further actions. I wanted to consult the high alpha Henry in this matter. I was in my office, doing the most worst job ever, the paper work. Ugh. I hate doing these things. But it is inevitable.

I heard a knock on my door, reviving me from my thoughts.

“Come in,” I said.

“You look like s**t and could use some shaving of the beard and a hot shower,” my best friend and my Beta Jacob said as soon as he came in.

“Like I don’t know anything about it” I grunted.

“what’s wrong?”

“Well, I’m concerned about these rogue attacks. After hearing the red moon pack survivors’ thoughts about a witch’s hand behind all these attacks, I am now even more worried. ”

“George, you need to rest. If only you had Luna by your side,” I immediately cut him off with an angry growl.

“Don’t even talk about it. Do you think, I don’t want to meet my mate or I don’t want her in the first place? You know well Jacob, I have searched for her in all the packs surrounding us.”

“George..”

“No, don’t you dare George.. me, Jacob. I hate discussing it right now.” I used my alpha tone to stop him from further discussing the issue.

“Yes, Alpha”, he submitted.

“Jacob, I would like to have an audience with high alpha Henry. Can you arrange it?” I asked.

“very well, give me a moment. I’ll call his beta Cole right away.”

He went out for few minutes and came back.

“Alpha Henry, along with his beta and his assistant are on some business trip. They will be back tomorrow and we can go see him in the noon.” He said.

“Very well, we leave tomorrow then, now you can go”. I dismissed him with that.

Looking out of my window, from my office in the second floor of my pack house, I could see the castle in distance, high up on the cliffs. The forest enclosing our two packs was huge and the surroundings were so beautiful, that the human government has actually named the forest as Nature Reserve something, and it was prohibited for humans to enter the forest after some extent.

In fact, it was alpha Henry’s doing. He had some of his pack members working in the government, and along with his contacts in high offices, alpha Henry made it possible for us to live in peace, in this side of the forest.

At the sight of the castle, Alex, my wolf spoke. “interesting.”

“what’s interesting?”

“I can feel something but I don’t know what it is. Tomorrow’s meeting will be interesting.”

What the hell does he mean by that. Not finding his mate for long time, has already taken a toll on him. He has definitely gone nuts. His sudden outbursts, feeling nonchalant at other times, has everyone on edge these days. It’s only Jacob, who’s able to stand up to me. Even sometimes, he cannot stand it. I don’t know how many times my furniture has been replaced. Or how many times, I had my pack doctor to look at the wounds inflicted by me on few warriors, while training. My mind was reeling and I sighed, and went back to work. I had to finish this paperwork, before I went to see alpha Henry.
