Chapter 32Annika
“What’s going on? What happened? Leo?” Spotty had stopped when the horses in front of Annika stopped. They were blocking her view, but clearly Leo was injured somehow. She heard Steph yelling at someone over Leo’s moans of pain.
The riders in front of her were dismounting and Annika struggled to do the same. But she didn’t dare let go of the horse and she couldn’t fit between the other horses and riders while holding onto Spotty’s reins. Where was Jesse?
“One of the horses fell…”
“It’s Leo. He must’ve come off.”
“Gittie never should have let…”
Damn it! How did Annika end up in the very back anyway? The bits of conversation she was able to overhear were not reassuring. Poor Leo! She’d heard him moaning, so he was alive, thank God, but how badly hurt was he?
