Rachel and Josh visited Dirk once his surgery was done and he’d started rehabilitation.
“Me, me,” Josh said as he pushed the lift button.
Did Josh get out and about? She’d have to invite him to visit Gran and Esther. They’d love him.
“You go in first.”
Josh tiptoed into the room and peeked around the curtain. “Surprise, Mr Dirk. Surprise.”
“Josh, you are a surprise. The best kind,” Dirk said. “You didn’t come on your own, did you?”
“Miss Rachel brought me.” Josh beckoned to her.
They weren’t the only guests. Mrs Klopper was there, and a man about Rachel’s age or a little younger. He got up out of his seat immediately and offered it to her. Josh held the heavy fruit basket towards Dirk.
