Chapter 14

Luca's POV I turned and looked at her to find her looking right back at me and the way she looked at me with those seductive eyes made me want her even more. "Man stop staring at her like you want to eat her" Blade, my wolf, spoke in my mind. I noticed she had on fresh clean clothes wearing jean shorts and a blue shirt, and her hair was washed and dried, making her scent even more stronger. I knew I had to start talking before my mind wandered any further and before Blade started talking again, so I did. "So I know we kinda already let people know when I was holding your hand at breakfast and let you take the Luna seat, but I wanted to officially introduce you as my mate tonight at dinner since it is only one in the afternoon, I figured we could decide together what we would say?" "Oh... Well, I don't think it matters what we say but how we say it. As long as they know that they are respected as a pack and they know what to expect when we mate, then I think it would be fine." "Thats true. Okay, then that settles it. Now that, that is done, what do you have planned for the day?" "Well, I was planning to bake some cookies and brownies for the orphanage here. I wanted to visit the kids and spend some time with them." "You bake?" I asked and she nodded her head. " She is perfect" "Of course she is Blade, she's our mate". I told him while turning my attention back to her. "Would you mind if I helped you? I go to the orphanage all the time." "Yeah, I don't mind. But you have to help me bake some cookies and brownies for the kids." "Okay, but I must warn you I am not the best baker." "Thats fine because I am, so you can just help with some of the other stuff." "Like what?" I asked, flirting with her and leaning towards her just a little bit. "Well, like getting all the ingredients. I have no clue where everything is." "Hahaha I can definitely do that." We both got up from our chairs and I held the door open for her and we walked down to the kitchen together just making small talk. She asked about my siblings and I told her that they were visiting my aunt but they were coming home today so she would get a chance to meet them all. I did warn her about my brother, who liked to play pranks all the time, and my sister, who is outgoing and can make friends anywhere, and my other sister, who is the youngest and the most protected by all of us siblings. They all knew I had met my mate since my mom had told them on a video chat and that I was also getting married, which was another reason why they were coming home so they could all attend the wedding. We walked into the kitchen and, I looked at the clock on the wall showing it was one thirty, I walked over to the double-door walk in pantry with Drea following behind me and asking me to grab anything that was too high for her to reach, like the chocolate chips and stuff while she grabbed some flour and sugar from the bottomer shelf. Holding all the ingredients in our arms, I grabbed the sugar and flour from her while she had some other small ingredients in a few large mixing bowls and mixing spoons. "Hey Talia, can I get that butter I put out in the morning?" She asked our cook. I guess she must have done that before we went out to training in the morning. Talia came over with at least eight blocks of butter. I knew I looked shocked so I quickly changed my expression. We must be making a ton of cookies and brownies. I know the kids at the orphanage are going to love it. I watched as she got to work on first making the brownie batter and I helped by measuring out the ingredients and greasing the pan's while she poured the batter into the first two pans that had chocolate chips. In the last two pans she poured were just regular brownie batter. Once the brownies were in the oven, we continued to work side by side and started on the chocolate chip cookies. She showed me how to drop the cookies on the sheet pan and how far apart they needed to be. Her cookies looked the same size before going in the oven as mine did. We even made peanut butter cookies. While everything was in the oven, we started to clean up and I wanted to know more about her. "So Drea, tell me more about yourself." I asked her. "Well, I moved around a lot and I've been to a lot of different schools, got bullied a lot, trained every day for many years. Over the years I've learned to be a princess, perfected my skills in cooking, baking, writing, fighting, negotiating, torturing, and other things." At the mention of being bullied, me and Blade got angry and a growl escaped, and I let my aura slip, although it didn't seem to bother her in the slightest. "So torture, huh? I mean I've heard stories, but I didn't think a princess would.. or is supposed to..." I let my sentence trail off, not knowing what else to say. "Damn she IS perfect. I love that she can handle herself." "That is true Blade, I must admit that even as a princess she isnt what I thought she would be." "That is because you judged her before knowing her." " Yes, Blade I know, clearly I was wrong. I see that now." I replied back to him wanting this conversation to be over so I could enjoy spending time with Drea. "Yeah... I had a lot of anger after I was rejected and all the years of bullying, so I really threw myself into my training. I was the top warrior in my kingdom next to my dad, the top tracker aside from my uncle, I manage just about all the finances in the kingdom, I trade stocks, and I have my own clothing line. Nothing I did was ever enough to stop the anger in me. I couldn't just be physically exhausted, I had to be mentally exhausted as well. That is why I do all the things I do, it keeps me busy. There are some other things but that's for another time to talk about." "so.. Are you still angry?" I couldn't help but ask. It makes sense that she is as good as they say she is if she's had all that anger built up in her over the years and had no way to express it. "Yes and no. I had to learn over the years to deal with it. Being back home and having more resources helped a lot, but it didn't get rid of it all." Ding The oven timer went off and, one at a time, we took out the brownies to let them cool off. A few minutes later, another timer went off to take out the cookies. "Do you have cooling racks?" She asked me, so I pulled out a few cooling racks, and I placed them on the counter. Letting the cookies cool on the pan's before taking them off to cool completely on the rack. "Do you have any containers to put milk in? I wanted to bring some milk for the kids as well." "Here you go", I reached up, pulling a pitcher out from the top cupboard above her head. This made me move closer to her and I could feel her breath on my chest as I grabbed the pitcher, stepping back, handing it to her. Looking at her, she quickly turned away, moving to the fridge, but before she could, I had seen the blush that was clearly on her face, and she looked so adorable trying to hide it from me. I watched her silently pouring milk into the pitcher and throwing away the empty carton. I moved into the pantry, grabbing a few containers to put everything in and lining them with parchment paper. We finished in silence and had everything ready to go to the orphanage. "I can put this all in my car if there is anything else you want to grab before we go?" "I just need to grab my bag and I'll be ready." "Okay, just meet me out front and I'll bring the car out." I walked out of the kitchen into the living room and out the front door to the garage attached to the packhouse and placed everything on the floor in the back seat of my car. I held the the pitcher of milk on my lap so it wouldn't fall over and pulled out of the parking garage and to the front of the pack house, and there she was waiting for me. I leaned over the passenger seat and opened the door for her to get in. Once she was in and had her seat belt on, she took the pitcher of milk from me so I didn't have to worry about it and drive at the same time. I kept stealing glances at her and she pretended that she wasn't doing the same thing, but I could see the way she would blush every time I caught her looking at me. The drive to the orphanage was only a few minutes from the packhouse, and the packhouse had mostly teenagers, warriors, and anyone who wanted to stay in the pack house. We soon pulled up outside the orphanage and I got out first, walking around the front of the car and opening her door for her. Closing her door, I opened the back door and grabbed all the containers while closing the door. I reached for her hand, carrying the containers in my other while leading her to the front door. It was three in the afternoon, so you could hear the kids playing outside in the back laughing and having fun. That sound always makes me happy when I come to visit them. Drea's POV Luca helped me with baking for the orphanage. All the while Ava was going on and on in my head about him and wanting to meet his wolf. I told her we would meet him soon before we mated and got married, to calm her down. I ran up to my room to grab my bag. I rushed down the stairs, skipping every other step. I was nervous and excited about being in the car with him, even if it was just for a short time. This was also a chance for me to see how he is with kids as well. I know he is a pretty ruthless alpha, but from what I have seen, he is also a fair and kind alpha. Although no one outside the pack thinks so. The stories people tell about him are a bit crazy, none of which I have yet to see. If I ever get to see it. But then again, I am not perfect either. He already knows how I torture people... Well, he has heard about it at least, which is enough to make anyone run away from me. Most people usually do. Before I knew it, we were parking in front of the orphanage. "Duh, we are powerful and people always want us for our power. They either love us, hate us, or want to be us. It sucks, but that comes with being powerful." "Yeah thanks Ava, that's very encouraging, and not a lot of pressure." "Sorry Drea, I didn't mean to put more pressure on you, I just think we need to be prepared. You heard what the moon goddess said." "Yes, I heard her, and we will be prepared in time. For now, let's just enjoy the little ones." With that, Ava became silent as we walked through the front door of the orphanage. I could hear the kids out back playing with their laughter filling the air. We walked to the kitchen to find one of the cooks preparing dinner for the kids, so I decided to help out. They were making lasagna so I helped prep the meat and sauce while Luca was out back playing with the kids. Once I was done helping prep the kids' dinner, I went out the back through the kitchen door to see him playing soccer with the little kids. He was huge compared to them, running around while the little kids kept trying to tackle his legs. They looked so cute while I leaned on the door frame. I couldn't help but think of our future and the kids we'll have. Seeing him like this, I know he'll make a good father one day. "Princess, princess come play with us" The kids were yelling and running to me. Once they reached me, they all started to tug on my hand, pulling me toward the area they were all playing in. I followed them but I immediately noticed a little girl sitting at the side with a little boy next to her and we both stared at each other for a brief moment. For some reason, I wanted to sit next to them and get to know these two little kids. I'm not sure why, but I did. I decided to play with the kids and made a mental note to spend a little one on one time with the two kids. Me and Luca spent an hour playing with the kids, and I couldn't get that little girl and boy out of my mind sitting together. Truth be told, the little girl reminded me of myself. If it weren't for my cousins, I wouldn't have any friends. Not that I do, but the friends we did have were their friends, not mine. I spent most of my time alone outside of what I usually do. Walking over, I sat next to the little girl. "Hi, what's your name? My name is Andrea" I said, looking at the little girl who looked up at me with a small smile on her face. "My... My name is Emma Princess" "Oh no, please call me Drea. And what is your name sweetie?" I said to the little boy next to her. "His name is Levi princ.. uhhh Drea" "How old are you and your brother Emma?" "I am ten princ... Drea and my brother is five. I am the oldest and he is the youngest here. " Ten... she was ten. Most of the kids here were eight or around eight. And her brother was five. Completely shocked, all I could do was nod my head. After a while, I said "How would you both like to come home with me?" shocked completly written on their faces "Yes we would. But no one has wanted us before." "Don't worry about that, I'll take care of it, wait right here for me. I'll be right back, okay." "Luca, may I please speak with you?" I walked over to the side where we could have a private conversation. "Look, I know that we are mates and that the decision that I am about to make affects you as well. However I cannot..." "I understand" " I'm sorry?" I looked at him confused. He doesn't even know what I wanted to ask him. "You want to take the two kids that you were talking to, and I'm okay with that. I wanted to take them too, but I didn't have time with everything else I had going on." So he did know what I had wanted to do. Not just that, but he wanted the same thing as I did. I couldnt hide the shock on my face. "Yes I do... Wait you are...? Your okay with me adopting them?" I said while nodding my head in the direction of the two kids. "Yes Drea I am. Whatever makes you happy makes me happy. I know those kids, they are good kids, their parents died protecting this pack. I've been trying to find them a good home. The only reason I didn't take them is because I didn't think I could have handled that with being alpha. I didn't think that I would have had the time to give them the love that they needed." "So he does want pups" my wolf purs in the back of my mind. I just rolled my eyes at her even though I noted the shine in his eyes at mentioning kids. "Thank you Luca." I said while throwing my arms around his neck and hugging him. I let go and quickly walked away, happy knowing that my decision was one he was more than okay with. "There will be times where you both wont agree on things you know?" "Yes, Ava, I know, and we will find ways to compromise when the time comes, for now I'll take what I can get." I replied back to her I walked back into the house and I gotta say it was pretty big, which made me happy for a second. I found the same person who I helped with dinner still in the kitchen. " I'm sorry but who can I see about the kids' history before coming here and the adoption process." She looked kind of shocked but still responded. "Oh.. umm that would be me. I can show you any of the kids' history and show you how the process works as well." "Absolutely, I'd love to see it please." We walked out of the kitchen and down the hall past the living room and into an office once seated Mrs. Hall showed me the process of adoption first, which was pretty standard, and I was glad that they even do home checks for up to a year once a kid is adopted. "May I please see the files on Heather and Sammy" "Yes princess" She pulled out two files and I had spent the next ten minutes going over their files and how they got here. Pretty much their parents died in a rogue attack and have been left orphaned for almost a year now. The kids have been here for almost a year now. A f*****g year. f**k. "Mrs. Hall please start the adoption process for me please. And I'd like a rush on it. I would like to take Heather and Samm home today" Shock crossed her face and she only nodded and got the paper work out for me. Once the papers were signed and I had thanked Mrs Hall, I walked out of the office to where both of the kids were still sitting. "Hey kids, let's go and pack your things. You guys are coming home with me." The look of pure joy on their faces as I told them they were coming with me made me so happy. Knowing that they were going to have a home, Sammy ran into the house, not being able to contain his excitement, while me and Heather followed behind him. I left Luca still playing outside with the kids. We were probably here for a couple of hours now and it looked like the sun was going to set in an hour, so that meant that I had some time to make the kids some food when we got back to the pack house.
