Chapter 17

A lady was crouching beside his Star and it seemed she had her hand around her neck.
“How dare you!” Fear gripped him as she flung the woman away with so much force that she fell.
“Get the hell away from her” He bellowed.
Likely the lady landed on her backside and thankfully her ample bums cushioned the fall.
She was however not deterred from her mission. She understood his emotions and for some reason felt sorry for him.
“Please Sir, do not touch or move her. I am a doctor, let me have a look at her”.
It took Kay some time to register what the lady was saying. He was staring at her with blank expression trying to make sense of the situation.
Slowly he stood up and extended his hand to assist the lady up.
She quickly rushed over and resumed what she was busy with before she was rudely yanked and thrown across the room.
She started shouting commands to everyone in the restroom.
“We have a pulse. I want everyone out please, she needs some space and air”
“Security! No one should be allowed in except the paramedics.”
“You Sir, come here and help me put pressure on the wound.”
Kay jumped to the order like he was a Military Private obeying a command from his superior.
He squatted beside the Doctor as he waited for further instructions. He was fumbling, his hands shaking. The wound on her forehead was bleeding profusely.
She had to guide his hands gently and put her hands on top of his to guide him to the amount of pressure needed to stop the bleeding.
After ensuring that he was capable she fumbled in her bag and took out her mobile phone to call an ambulance.
She could not figure out the extent of the injury but one thing for sure she had a concussion as a result of a direct blow to her head.
Luckily she was standing next to her when she fell unconscious and collapsed. She hit her head on the washing basin as she was crumbling down to the floor.
Her worries were the severity of the concussion, if only she was conscious, it would have helped to diagnose the extent of her injuries.
The wound on her scalp was lacerated and she was pretty sure she would need few stitches. Although head injuries were known to bleed a lot she could not take chances.
She was grateful that the hotel owners were visionary in having medical services in the hotel. Being the doctor in the same establishment, she was afraid her clinic would not be able to handle the case in event immediate surgery was needed.
Her clinic dealt with not so much complicated cases from the hotel guests and staff. If the case seemed complicated, they would usually refer them to the private hospital where there was a ward specifically for the hotel patients.
In the particular case, there were tests needed to verify if there was a skull fracture, internal bleeding or other serious damage to the brain. That meant subjecting her to the CT scan as well as the MRI.
After the phone call, she was satisfied that her team would be on its way to assist and the ambulance parked outside.
Within minutes, the paramedics rushed in and she stepped aside for them.
“She will be fine Sir. Allow them to tend to her. What is important for now is to stop the bleeding and clean the wound.”
He could not move away from her. He had to be there with her, to see that they were doing their best for her.
Her body was not moving. When they lifted her limp body onto the gurney Kay could not contain himself.
Never in his life had he experienced what was happening to him. His chest felt heavy, constricted, he could not breath. His heart felt like it was being ripped right out of his chest.
“What happened to you my lovely Star?” Her hand was clasped in his large one.
Although she could not hear him nor respond to him, that did not discourage him from voicing out his promise to her.
“I am here babe and will not be leaving your side until you open those gorgeous eyes”.
He was muttering hysterically. His face was panic stricken.
“We are taking her to the hospital” one of the health professionals said as they wheeled her out to the waiting ambulance.
A handful of onlookers were outside waiting with abated breaths.
The Counselor had earlier on ended the evening and that meant cutting short the music and ushering everyone outside. He knew that would have been Kay’s wish upon hearing the incident in the bathroom.
He had rushed to be at his side but unfortunately no one was allowed in by the time the paramedics arrived. He had to wait outside like everyone else.
Kay was oblivious of everyone’s presence even the Counselor who had scurried over to him as soon as they emerged from the restrooms with paramedics to give him support.
The whole time Gee was watching. Disbelief had paralyzed him into a daze. How did things get out of hand and turn out the way they did.
What was meant to be a little persuasion to discourage a relationship turned to be his friend’s worst nightmare.
Never in years had he seen Kay in the state he was in at that moment. It was not in his nature to show raw feeling the way he was doing.
“What did those good for nothing women do?” he grimaced at the realization that they had only one job to do and they could not even do a simple task of slandering Kay’s name.
Things had spiraled out of control. All of a sudden he was worried. Knowing Kay the way he did, he was pretty sure that his friend was not going to eat, sleep or rest until he got to the bottom of the incident.
Once he did, things were going to turn nasty. Someone’s blood was going to spill. He shuddered at the thought of it.
At that point in time, Gee knew that he had messed…
