Chapter 1: Rebirth
ate at night, in a hospital in the capital city.
Su Ning opened her eyes to the cold glow of medical equipment. She blinked. Wasn’t she already dead?
Before she could make sense of it all, a sharp, angry voice snapped at her:
"Su Ning! You witch! Why aren’t you dead yet?!"
That voice. That hatred. It yanked her back to reality.
She looked around in disbelief. The IV drip. The smell. The pain. This... this was three years ago.
The exact moment she’d tried to run from Mo Jinghuai—and failed.
She had died. But somehow, she came back.
Three years ago, she tried to escape Mo Jinghuai’s grasp during one of his overseas business trips. It was her 99th attempt.
She thought she had finally succeeded—until he appeared out of nowhere. She panicked. Ran. A car sped toward her. At the last second, he leaped forward and shielded her with his body.
She lived. He didn’t.
At twenty-eight, she had been used as a pawn by her stepsister and Song Luyan—the man she once adored. They manipulated her into stealing business secrets from Mo Jinghuai, promising her freedom.
She believed them. Helped them. Destroyed Mo Corporation overnight.
And when she thought she was finally free, they tried to kill her. Again, Mo Jinghuai saved her. Again, he took the hit.
As he lay in her arms, blood everywhere, he gently reached out to touch her face—but stopped, knowing she hated him.
His voice was barely a whisper:
"Ning... you’re free now."
"Take care of yourself... while I’m gone."
"I’ll always... love you..."
And then he died.
She had lost everything. And only then did she realize what he meant to her.
"What’s it like," her stepsister sneered, "to have the man who loved you die for you?"
Then Song Luyan—her supposed “true love”—laughed beside her.
"You never knew, did you? I killed your mother too. She threw herself in front of my car. Hilarious, right?"
It was them. All of it.
The fall of Mo Corporation. Her mother’s death. Her own torment. All planned by those two devils.
She had blamed the wrong man. She pushed away the only person who ever loved her. And when he died, her whole world collapsed.
She tried to end it all.
But they didn’t let her.
Dragged to an abandoned basement, tortured for ten days—needles, drugs, pain—until she bit her own tongue and ended it herself.
Her final thought:" If there’s a next life, I will love you with everything I have, Mo Jinghuai".
And now—here she was. Reborn. Back at 25. Before everything.
This time, she wouldn’t make the same mistakes.
This time, she’d make those traitors suffer. And she’d love Mo Jinghuai as he deserved.
Gu Qinyan’s shrieking snapped her out of her thoughts.
"Why are you still alive?! If anything happens to Jinghuai, I’ll never forgive you!"
She stormed off.
Su Ning took a deep breath. Mo Jinghuai… was he still in surgery?
Her body moved before her brain could stop her. She ripped out the IV and ran.
“Madam! You must rest!” cried Xiao Nan, her maid.
“I’m fine. Where is he?”
“In the ICU. He’s in critical condition,” Xiao Nan said, stunned by her sudden concern.
Her heart dropped. No. Not again.
Tears blurred her vision as she rushed to him.
“I want to be there when he wakes,” she whispered, refusing to leave his side.
Eventually, she passed out from exhaustion.
When she woke up, it was afternoon. She sat up immediately.
“Where is he?”
“He’s stable,” Xiao Nan said. “But still unconscious.”
“I want to see him.”
The staff were shocked. This woman, who once hated him, now refused to leave his side.
In his room, Su Ning held his hand tightly.
“Hubby, please wake up. This time, I’ll listen to everything you say. I’ll never hurt you again. I’ll love you like you loved me.”
Tears streamed down her cheeks. She fell asleep, holding his arm.
...
The next morning, Mo Jinghuai slowly opened his eyes.
The first thing he saw was her—disheveled, tear-streaked, clinging to him like he was her lifeline.
He thought he was dreaming.
She’d never looked at him like that before.
He lifted a hand, gently brushing her hair away.
She stirred. Eyes fluttered open.
“You’re awake!” she gasped, voice trembling with joy.
He froze. She was... smiling at him?
His fingers curled slightly.
Was this... real?
Was she really back?
Su Ning’s eyes fluttered open, landing on Mo Jinghuai’s impassive face. Her heart tightened.
“Hubby, how are you feeling? Does anything still hurt?” she asked anxiously, fumbling to check him over.
Mo Jinghuai’s gaze was cold and unreadable. His voice, low and mocking: “Is this your new escape plan?”
Su Ning froze.
New plan?
Then it hit her—three years ago, she’d been obsessed with escaping him. And every time she had a new plan, she suddenly became overly concerned, unusually sweet. At first, he thought she was finally softening toward him.
But every ounce of warmth had just been bait for her next great escape.
He had loved her with everything, and still, she had run.
Su Ning’s chest ached. Everyone feared Mo Jinghuai—CEO of Mohs Group, ruthless and untouchable. Yet, he had loved her. Only her.
