Chapter 7 - The Promise

He pushed the curtains aside, pondering the situation. Palazzo Muti was an imposing, old building dominating a large square in the heart of Rome. From one of its windows, Cardinal Gregorio Estenzi had the whole crowded space under his keen eyes. The Palazzo had been his family legacy for generations and his main residence for several years. From the third floor window, he could see part of the alley, also crowded and reverberating with the people steps over the stone pavement and, looking up the huge St. Peter's Dome.
