Destiny Awakens

Travis POV Chad and I reach the forest edge where we shift back into our human forms, quickly dressing in our black slacks and equally black button downs. Ensuring we are hidden from view, but able to see the cottage and ceremonial grounds, we wait with bated breath. I watch as tracker Terrence and his mate ascend to the top of the hill, with a younger female behind them. Tracker Terrence lights the torches before joining the Alphas and Lunas in the observation area a safe distance from the site. The elder woman lights two smudging sticks before she and the younger female begin a ritual cleansing of the area. Suddenly the winds shift and blow down towards where we are standing, Chad suddenly tenses and makes a move forwarded as though he’s in a trance. I quickly step in front of him, placing my arm against his chest when I see his light green eyes turn dark. The deep voice of Thunder growls lowly “Mate.” I place both hands on Chad’s shoulders shaking him before I use my Alpha tone to reign him back in. “Chad I need you to get a grip right now before you blow this whole thing.” Chad’s eyes turn back to their normal green, before he sucks in a hard breath. “Tig, that’s my mate.” He gestures to the young female. Oh this night just keeps getting better and better. “Chad, look at me. I understand how hard it is to keep yourself in check, but I promise you we will soon get to claim our mates. Now keep it together for a little while longer.” I glare him down. Chad nods and braces himself against a tree as we continue watching. I smell her before I see her, the fragrance of honeysuckle wraps around me, as I watch her clinging to the arm of an elder male human, whom I presume is the father to my mate. He gently leads her up the hill, and once they reach the top he kisses her hand then steps back between the elder and younger women. My mate appears to center herself before she walks onto the ritual grounds, stepping into the stone basin then turning to face the crowd. My breath catches in my chest as I gaze upon her figure in an all-too revealing gown, my eyes traveling up to the most serene face turning up to stare at the sky. Chad POV Thunder is whimpering in my head, prancing back in forth with glee from finding our mate, and agony from being kept at a distance. While we could never disobey a command from our Alpha, I couldn’t help but resent him from preventing me access to the intoxicating odor of lavender which is sweeping across the plains and enveloping my senses. I lean against a tree to keep my legs from crumbling underneath me, as the scent of my mate is damn near bringing me to my knees. My eyes are glued to this petite native beauty of tanned skin, long wavy chocolate brown locks of hair, and deep green dress clinging to her curves. Moon Goddess help me, I need all the strength I can get to not ruin this moment for my alpha. Once my future Luna enters center stage, all thoughts are lost on me as she captivates her entire audience. Sarah POV I feel the winds pick up as the clouds move away from the moon, allowing the lunar beams to light up the scene. The water in the basin shimmers in the glow of the moon, and as midnight strikes a surge of energy engulfs me. Raising my arms out to my sides, palms upward, the water from the basin rises up into the air, circling overhead as the wind whirls around me. The torches brighten as their fire grows up towards the heavens and I feel the earth begins to tremble. Circling my arms high over my head, the fire, wind, and water begin to dance. The clouds clear away completely and with one final thrust of my hands towards the heavens the flames blow out, the water disperses into the sky, the winds suddenly halt, and the earth ceases its movement. I slowly lower my arms, breathing out slowly, then raise my arms out to my sides, palms to the sky, as the torches erupt into flames once again. With a final look up to the heavens, thanking the Mother Spirit, I then look to the crowd, gazing upon the faces staring back at me in amazement. Travis POV Watching my mate wield the elements of wind, fire, water and earth is the most spiritual and spectacular vision I’ve ever witnessed. I can feel Chad next to me, just as transfixed on the scene we are witnessing. When the final surge of energy flows through the region, my heart feels as though it stops completely, beating again once the torches spring back to life. The crowd before my mate stands awestruck before they break out in applause and cheers for my mate and my heart swells with pride. As my mate steps towards her family to embrace them, I see Terrence nod in my direction, signaling that my time has come. I glance over to Chad who grins at me, then gestures in an “after you” sort of manner. Chad and I slowly make our way out of the tree line, drawing me nearer to the honeysuckle sweetness that is my mate.
