Chapter 25: The day to decide

He must have felt me watching because he woke up and smiled at me creepily checking him out while he slept.
I blushed hard and hid my face in his chest, making him laugh. He picked my hand up and kissed the back of it. “You can check me out anytime, babe, no need to be embarrassed.”
Embarrassing myself further, I found myself asking, “can I touch your body with your top off?”
When I dared to look up at him, he had one eyebrow raised with a smirk on his face. “I did say it’s all yours, didn’t I.” He pulled his top off for me and I did what I’d been dying to do to all the brothers and their godlike muscular bodies.
First, I just stared at his body like an i.diot, I couldn’t help it, if I thought he looked good in a shirt, he looked even better out of it.
I finally ran my hands over that perfect, lightly tanned muscular body. His sweatpants were low enough down on his hips that I could see the Adonis belt he had going on. I ran my hands all over his six-pack and the sound of him softly moaning gave me the courage to lean in and kiss those abs. I kissed his sides, his stomach, his chest, and moved up to kiss over the scar that showed he’d been marked by me.
“Mm, you keep doing that, I might just throw you down on my bed and have my way with you.”
Grinning, I sat up and stopped kissing him.
“You’re such a tease,” he groaned.
“And you seem in a much happier mood than when Jax brought me in here.”
“Hm, being pleasured and played with by your mate will do that to a guy.”
We were in the middle of kissing when Jax opened the door and walked in.
Fenris broke the kiss and growled, “you best start knocking that door Jax I swear.”
Jax ignored what he said and asked, “you two been f.ucking?”
“No,” Fenris replied.
“Well I just caught you in bed kissing, so you’ve been doing something.”
“Why do you care?”
“Because she’s not just your mate, Fenris.”
“You know I accepted her as my mate.” Fenris stood up, but Jax didn’t back down.
“I know I can f.ucking smell her all over you.”
Looking at me, he asked, “did you lose your virginity to him?”
I shook my head no and Fenris said, “if you want her Jax, go and perform the mate bond with her, then you can kiss and touch her all you like as well.”
“f***k you!” Jax snarled and stormed out the room.
“Jax seems in a really bad mood today,” I said quietly.
“Maybe you should go see why, he’s more likely to talk to you, though just now I’m sure was more to do with jealousy over you.”
“Jax, jealous?” I laughed.
“I’m serious, Jax can get really jealous sometimes. I think it’s more the thought of me having you all to myself that’s irritating him.”
“Why? He doesn’t even want me.”
“He might.”
“No, he seems pretty against the whole being tied down thing.”
“That doesn’t mean the bond between you two isn’t affecting him, he will still be feeling things towards you.”
We had two days left until Romeo would want an answer from us all about if we would accept or reject one another.
I got up to leave and looked back at him. “I hate you acting all cold around me in front of everyone else.”
He got up and wrapped his arms around my waist. “It won’t be forever, I promise.”
He kissed my forehead and I said, “for such a grumpy and unaffectionate wolf, you sure do kiss and cuddle a lot.”
He snorted a laugh at that and replied, “no one would believe you if you told them.”
“Not even your many…lovers?” I teased.
He smiled. “No they wouldn’t, we never cuddled and rarely kissed, it was mostly about s**x and foreplay.”
“So just me then?” I grinned.
“Just you,” he murmured and kissed my cheek.
I didn’t see much of anyone until the special day, not even Jax, and I wondered if he was purposely avoiding me. I’d tried to talk to him like Fenris said, but he’d been in one of his scary moods and told me to leave him alone, so wisely I did.
Fenris didn’t need to join us when we were called to the alpha’s room because he’d already accepted me.
I ended up sitting between both Jax and Romulus. Romeo wasted no time with small talk and right out asked us all, “have you decided?”
I thought Romulus would be the meanest and hurt me the most, but it was Jax who without any emotion said, “I don’t accept her as my mate.”
“So you’ve chosen to reject her?”
Jax nodded.
Romeo looked disappointed, I knew it was more for business and not because he actually cared about me or my feelings. “Ok son, just remember you can still change your mind.”
“I won’t,” Jax replied, and without another word he walked out.
“Give him time, he might change his mind later,” Romeo said to me.
My heart hurt so much, my wolf wanted her mate.
Romulus looked uncomfortable, and I couldn’t bear to look at his beautiful face while he rejected me too. “I don’t want to accept her as my mate, but I’m not ready to outright reject her either.”
“Romulus, I told you to make a decision.”
“I need a bit more time than two weeks to make such a big decision.”
Romeo sighed and said, “fine, for now, I’ll take it as you’ve chosen to reject her too.”
Romulus looked at my face and said, “why are you so upset? You’ve got Fenris, you hardly need more than one mate.”
I nodded, “I know, it’s stupid,” I sobbed and started crying so much I had to run from the room.
I felt so humiliated and unwanted, as a wolf I felt the full effects of being rejected by her mates and I didn’t even want to know how much worse it would feel when they actually rejected me properly, Fenris had mentioned you reject one another the same way you accepted one another.
I was crying into my pillow when my bedroom door opened. I couldn’t even move to see who it was.
I could tell by their scent it was Romulus, he lay down behind me and gently wrapped his arm around my waist. Never did I think Romulus would spoon me.
“I’m sorry, that was mean,” he whispered into my hair.
“You’re right, though, what a disgusting person I am to want more than one man. It’s wrong.”
He forced me onto my back to look at him. “It’s not wrong, if the moon goddess says you have three true mates, there’s nothing wrong with that, and you’re entitled to your feelings Rose. It really wasn’t fair what I said, and I know I haven’t been the nicest to you, but I don’t want you suffering through the pain rejection causes, no one deserves that. I’m not outright rejecting you, I just need more time.”
“It’s ok, you don’t have to worry about me, don’t feel bad about your feelings either, you can’t force yourself to want someone that you don’t. Let’s face it, you’ve hated me since day one,” I laughed a little at that.
He smiled and replied, “you haven’t exactly liked me either.”
“Because you were mean.”
“I know, I’m sorry.” My hair was wet from tears and was matted to my face. Romulus gently stroked my hair from my face and kissed my nose. “You are cute,” he smiled.
“Pretty sure you said I was ugly and fat.”
“I’m such a d.ick, you really shouldn’t listen to anything I say.”
“You are right though, I’ve not taken good care of myself.”
“Rose, stop it, don’t talk like that about yourself, forget what I said, I was just being shallow and cruel.”
“It’s true though.”
“There’s more to a person than just how they look, personality really does help, Jax isn’t wrong in his way of thinking when it comes to people he finds attractive. I go for looks he goes for personality. I’ve learnt since you’ve been here that personality really can be quite attractive.”
“Only since me?”
“You’re my true mate, it’s forced me to think about things more deeply, and I feel our mate bond too. I’ve not really been interested in settling down with anyone seriously, so I didn’t care much about them personality wise.”
“Sheesh, are all you brothers afraid of commitment?”
Laughing, he answered, “maybe we are.”
My tears had stopped by now, and he asked, “will you be alright?”
I nodded, and he got up, when he reached the door, he said, “don’t suffer alone, you can come to me if you want, or find comfort in Fenris, but don’t sit in your pain alone.”
He closed the door and I sat there stunned at the kindness he had just shown me.
I was starting to think with these three brothers I was going to experience a lot of being surprised, shocked or stunned.
