I, Samantha Hubbard, am getting married to the man of my dreams today! When he first sent me the direct message on my social media it was like fate. In the past I would have never believed in a romance like Thomas and I have. We have been messaging and talking for 5 months. Once we got engaged last month, I started selling off my house stuff readying my move.
Growing up in foster care makes you feel like you have seen more of the world than the other kids in school but this is really my first flight. At 21 I am fresh out of college. I am normally a loner but Thomas just seemed to get me. Thomas was in foster care like me except he knew his parents until he was 12.
"Gate 3 now boarding" says the speakers overhead. This seems like a much smaller airport than Indianapolis International. Bonus of smaller is Panama City Beach, Florida does have a really short wait to get your baggage. Im to the pick up area in less than 10 minutes total.
Thomas told me to take a rideshare to public access 31. Or was it 13? Maybe I'll tell the driver 31 and walk towards 13. Once I see him I know it will be magic. I want to run to him on the beach and be swept up in his arms just like he described. We have everything planned out.
I paid for my plane ticket since he was paying for the rings and ceremony. Until he mentioned it, I never realized you pay the person marrying you. I guess in my mind all weddings are in a church or at the courthouse so the officiant was built in. My plane ticket was almost the cost of what I sold my used furniture for back home with about $125 left over.
Since I just graduated college from IUPUI with a Computer Graphics degree I don't have much in extra funds. The only nice part of foster care was the amount of funds that I was given to help my college expenses. It was always a struggle to have a job and keep up my studies so I ended up finishing strong with no job the last term. Thomas says I won't need much funds since he can get me a nice job once we are married.
The pleasant guy drops me off at Access 31, wishing me luck as I close the rideshares door. First thing I notice is the air here is so nice. Inhaling deeply this is me walking towards my forever.
