Chapter 1: The Rejection
Andalia's Pov My supposed eighteenth birthday that should have ended with me being in the arms of my Alpha instead ended with a drastic rejection. I watched him move around with his bedmate, Nana, at the start of his Inauguration Ceremony. I had planned to tell him we were mates, but I hesitated, staying in places he could recognize me. My mother had gone to the dinner to grab something to eat, leaving me alone to handle myself and I had not told her about the Alpha being my mate, she would flip and possibly die if she found out, especially with the class differences. I walked around the mansion, wearing a simple black dinner dress that hugged my curves perfectly. To be honest, I loved the dress, and everyone seemed to compliment me about it. My only friend, a cousin, was with her friends talking about college stuff, something I would not want to get involved in, so I moved away from them. I found my way to the dance floor, going to grab a drink when I bumped into a solid hard chest that almost made me lose my balance. I moved a step from whomever it was, expecting an apology, but he only scoffed with a smirk on his face. “What's wrong?" I questioned, seeing no meaning to his expression, but I could only admit that he was the bee's knees. Dark hair that fell on his shoulders, with forest green eyes so lush I could start a farm with. “Nothing dear, I'm just admiring the beauty before me. Say you would not mind me taking you home, right?” He offered, his voice sounding like a deep melody in my ears, Unfortunately I had to turn him down because I would be showing myself to my mate soon and who knows what would happen if I decided to let myself fall so helplessly for the dashing man before me. I smiled politely and gently shook my head, “Does it have to do with your mate?" He asked, reading my mind instantly, and I had no choice but to nod. He chuckled and took my hands in his, raising it up to his lips. “Then a drink on the roof if you don't mind, I would love to sit and chat with you." “Why? You should hang out with your friends, not me," I replied, earning a little frown from him. “I do not have friends but servants. You are lonely and decided to stay with you till your mate returns. That would not be a problem, right?” He asked, and I reluctantly nodded. Without warning me, he dragged me to the stairs that led to the open roof above, where we sat facing the dance floor. I could see my mate going around, ensuring everything was okay, that's was how perfect he was, a clean freak and perfectionist. "So what's your name?” He asked as he sipped his wine, his eyes not leaving mine, and I felt really intimidated, but also excited because someone actually wanted to talk to me. I dropped my glass beside me and placed them on my thighs, “Andalia Finsely," I replied, feeling embarrassment wash over me like a bucket of water since I was not used to telling anyone my name or even my surname, because it sounded weird. "Finsely,” He repeated, and I turned to him, "Sounds very familiar, but anyways, do you have plans for tomorrow?” He asked again, but this time, I shook my head, earning a smile for him. "Great, then you should come to the border separating your pack and the Illumina’s.” “I don't think they would want an enemy walking on their grounds, I would not want to be put in dungeons," I laughed nervously, failing to see the sinister gleam in his eyes “You have nothing to worry about," he trailed off, his eyes on what looked like a carriage approaching the mansion, then he suddenly sprang up. “Apologies Andalia, I have to attend to something urgently, I hope to see you tomorrow," He bowed shortly and left, taking another route downstairs. I heaved a sigh and got up as well, leaping off the roof and at a corner where no one would notice. Unfortunately, my mate, the alpha, saw me and froze. I also froze, suddenly paralyzed as our eyes met. I could feel his heart beating rapidly in rhythm with mine, his eyes had that affectionate gleam in them, but then they suddenly went dark. He frowned deeply, his eyes scanning my body from head to toe like I was some kind of trash can. I felt really insulted with his scrutinizing gaze, but I wanted to believe he was just shocked. “Who are you?" I heard him ask, taking a step closer to me, I opened my mouth to talk, but he beat me to it, saying something I would have never expected from him. “It doesn't matter anyway, Your name must be as irrelevant as you." I felt my heart clench at those words. It would have been better if he would just walk off, but he decided to face me. I was not ready for that. I glanced behind him and noticed he was beginning to call attention. “I am sorry," I uttered, at the verge of shedding tears because I didn't believe he would be this hostile to me. Was it how I dressed? How did I look or what I did? I couldn't possibly be. He barely even paid attention to me since I arrived. He grabbed my arm and roughly pulled me to the centre of the dance floor, pushing me so hard that I missed a step and fell on the floor. “Good day everyone, I apologize for the pause in the celebration but I would like to make something clear to you all," He started, his voice as loud as a microphone and I could even feel my wolf, Luna writhing in pain like she already knew what was coming. “This girl over here, unfortunately, turns out to be my mate," the crowd gasped loudly, followed by murmurs that died down when he raised his hands. I dropped my head shamefully, hating that I even had to meet him in public. ‘He was going to embarrass me in front of everyone and then expect me to live with him,’ I thought, clenching my fists as tears poured out of my eyes “But I will not risk my reputation and dignity for a trashy looking thing like her. Therefore, today, I reject you filthy things, and I do not want to see your face in my pack again unless you want to be thrown into the Dungeons.” ____ “I can still hear those words Luna, the memories that still are not clear, I can't even remember his face or remember where exactly it happened,” I laughed as I wiped away the single tear on my cheek. Three years of travelling from, in mother's words, the man who made me who I am today, well I would be getting answers for that soon. I was diagnosed with amnesia and ADHD after an accident that almost cost me my life. I lost a few of my memories and even the ones I managed to remember. They were barely vivid, and I could not make out what they were about. However, this one particular memory, the rejection that started all this, if I would turn back the hands of time, I would have not even made an attempt to meet my so-called mate. The handsome stranger from that night wanted me, but I was too hung up on a stupid myth. Yes, I know the moon goddess exists, but as for knowing your soul mate through a mate bond, I would call it absolute nonsense. I wouldn't even dare feel such again. Even if I did, I would kill the feelings till my heart would be as solid as a rock. Suddenly my phone rang loudly, pulling me out of my mind and conversing with my reflection in the mirror, I washed my face and hurried to my hotel room where I was supposed to be spending the night till mother returns. When I picked up the phone, I saw her name displayed boldly on the screen, causing me to worry because she shouldn't be calling by this time, but sleeping. I swiped the green icon up and raised the phone to my ear, “Hello?" “Andalia dear, pack up and meet me at the border, I found an apartment!" She squealed loudly, and I groaned face palming as usual because we would have to move into another apartment, “For the third time this month.” ‘No, this is the fourth time this month,’ “Oh my gosh!"
