Chapter Ten Seasons were non-existent on Tony’s island. It was in a permanent state of constant summer. When Stacey stepped out of the cab to look at her apartment complex for the first time in three months, she was startled to see that it was well into autumn in the city. The leaves were changing color. One of the trees nearby was already bare. There were no summer storms on the horizon. There was a hint of chill to the wind, as if winter was quietly promising to arrive. The cab drive home had shown her a lot of construction. Charlie’s company was remodeling and rebuilding a lot of the buildings that had fallen into disrepair. The public library was covered in construction signs. There was a park being built where there had once been a junk yard. It was exciting to see positive changes
