Chapter Eleven
Stacey had papers strewn out in front of her. She was looking them over. William had given them to her a few days ago to review. It was a business plan of sorts. This was her third time going over them. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust William. It was mostly that he hadn’t done a fantastic job with the restaurant. She wanted to make sure everything was in place. Perhaps this is where William’s talents really were, instead of the restaurant business.
A knock on her door snapped her out of focus. She wondered who it could be. Allison wasn’t due back from her honeymoon for another week. Stacey opened the door.
Charlie stood in front of her. He had a suitcase by his feet as if he had just arrived from the airport. He smiled at her.
“Hey,” was all he said but it was enough.
