Chapter 10
Phoebe fell out of the dreamline, stumbled, and caught herself on the side of a building. Disoriented for a moment, she clung to the wall in front of her and caught her breath. Night had fallen and the cold crept in on her, numbing her hands after a few seconds.
“Charley?” She whispered to try to stay as inconspicuous as possible.
From behind her, she heard a rush of wind and turned around. Charley stumbled out of the dreamline next to her and knocked his head against the wall behind them. He groaned and rubbed his head. “Ouch.”
“Are you okay?” Phoebe looked up at him.
He rubbed his forehead and said, “Just bumped my head. I’m okay. Those last few steps were a bit steeper than I had expected.”
