Chapter 13-2

1948 Words

*** Phoebe struggled to release herself from her bonds but could not. The camera obscura was chained to the back of the cart, and she sat next to it unable to free her hands. The soldier who had captured her had used leather rope to tie her up. She had tried to escape for the last hour but could not. And with her hands tied, she couldn’t call forth a spell. She didn’t know how to call her magic when bound. Two men manned the front of the cart, and the third man, a soldier who had not given her his name, rode on horseback, leading them onward on the path. By mid-day, she had rested as best she could, surprised to see they had arrived at a city. The soldier who had captured her slowed down and matched his horse to the cart’s speed. “We’re here.” Phoebe kept quiet and did not say a word.
