Chapter 23 I double checked the flight details on the arrivals and departures screen. Plenty of time. Taking a deep breath, I slowed my stride. I passed through security without a hitch then made my way to the gate and took a seat at the end of the row. A few other people sat scattered around the waiting area, small suitcases and other hand luggage placed on vacant seats like barriers between them. I had no luggage, not even a handbag. I placed my phone and a small round Bluetooth speaker on my lap then patted the pocket of my new favourite dress to confirm my car keys were still there. I’d bought the pink and green gingham shirt dress a couple of weeks ago. The vintage dresses I’d tried on in Darwin felt a bit ‘too much’ for me so I took my search online. This dress was perfect.
