EYES STILL CLOSED, I stretched. My ankle felt stiff but the throbbing from the day before had reduced to a dull ache. A lazy smile spread across my face. I hadn’t had dreams like that in ages. An icy breeze from the air-conditioner caressed my skin. I hadn’t slept naked in ages, either. I tugged the cotton sheet back up and rolled over, sprawling on my stomach in the middle of my queen-sized bed. My leg pressed against something warm. I peeled one eyelid open then squeezed it tightly shut. Bloody hell. It wasn’t a dream. It would be okay. Nobody would find out. And it wouldn’t happen again.
