CHAPTER XVII: HIM

When she’s about to splash water on her assailant to divert his attention as well as alert Ling Hua, she felt warm lips touch the back of her ear and a husky voice filtered through those lips.

“I wouldn’t do that if you want this selection to proceed as usual ”

Bei Wei can hear the promise in his voice and unwillingly, her face turned red at the remark.

“So this is how you spend your nights? breaking through young ladies who are peacefully taking their baths. You sure have a hobby of doing that Crown Prince”

A chuckle escaped the crown prince’s lips and the vibrations tickled Bei Wei’s ears.

At the sound, Ling Hua’s voice inquired for her young miss.

“Is something the matter Bei Wei?”

The crown prince stared at her daring her to do something. A smirk plastered on his face.

Bei Wei met his gaze straight on and made her irritation clear.

However, if she calls for Ling Hua the other servants will follow and the sight of the Crown Prince inside her bathing area will cause an uproar which she wishes to  avoid. It will mean she will have to be taken in as the crown prince’s woman as this incident will surely tarnish her reputation. And that is the last thing she would want to happen.

“Why is it that the moment I crossed paths with this man, everything has been in total chaos” Bei Wei sighed to herself

“Bei Wei?” Ling Hua asked again.

When she did  not answer, a hand reached for the curtain to set it aside. But before it could even move an inch , the hand halted at Be Wei’s response.

“Im Fine Ling Hua, I need some privacy please guard outside together with the other servants” Not breaking eye contact with the smirking man before her Bei Wei set her most loyal servant outside.

Without questioning, Ling Hua followed the request and went to guard outside. Hearing the chamber doors slide close, Bei Wei sighed in relief.

“This is the third time you sighed in my presence, do I make you uncomfortable my lady?”the prince inquired innocently

“I didn’t know you care for what my thoughts are , your majesty” tilting her head to the side, Bei Wei returned the innocent look.

“What has brought you here? Do you not know it is rude to interrupt a lady during her bath?” Shifting her face to her usual stoic expression she stared at the prince.

“This is not the first time either” she supplied , seeing that the prince before her does not have the plans to answer but just stare at her.

After a moment , the prince who was standing in front of her moved slowly like he got  all the time in the world.

“You are right, this is not the first time,  and I assure you not the last.” The prince replied with the same expression.

“I suggest you get out your majesty, it would be detrimental for both of us if you we are caught” Bei Wei calmly said but the slight blush on her face betrayed her calm expression.

“I made it sound like we are lovers secretly meeting in the middle of the night”

The smirk on the prince’s face made her blush even more.

Steeling her nerves , she finally mentioned the  elephant in the room.

“What is it that you want to discuss with me your majesty that you have to sneak in at this hour?”

The prince’s smirk fell and a serious atmosphere replaced his once playful one.
